monet's passion written in
whispering tears.
the still lake smoulders
in ripples, all shadows and smoke.

a dragonfly presses the air
into whir, memories in my
pocket saddled to fire.

ii.

the air murmurs with death-shouts.

is this to sink, deep in a dungeon
of opulent blue

or to shimmer, iridescent
like a moon-lamp, empress
of ocean green and river blue
beyond the stilling light.

iii.

this is a bed of decadence
drowned moment of golden fire
in the sipped leaves that trumpet
to the clouds, that this is their day to
die.

iv.

water lily, white light of the pond
following the drowning dark,
flower of drifting quiet,
flower of dream.

root treading past
the stillness of dusk,
utter existence,
daughter of the moon,
daughter of the silence.

When there seems
no progressive road
the past
savage
cruel
light finds you
the way out
whispers
the door awaits

Come
drink tea with me
lets talk of halcyon days
watch burdens
fall with shame
refresh our jaded souls

I arrived in the autumn of your life
the bright young thing
the eternal optimist
the one who allowed naivety
to shine too far

Never acknowledging the lies
woven intricate tales
you spoon fed me
every one

I'm awake now
but poison
takes time to die

Every home
has a window
but walls
can hold so much

There are faces
never seen
voices unspoken

I see sky invade
shifting clouds to mirrors
sunbeams turn glass to jewels
homes are shining

But who sees through the gleam?
Who perceives beyond the wall?
Who knows the tales behind windows?
Written after a long illness, being aware of how the world was still moving outside my window when my life was feeling very still and weak, and no-one passing by knew what I was going through.  Made me wonder just how much suffering of all kinds goes on behind windows and closed doors - and no-one ever sees beyond the sunlight reflected in pretty windows.  There is so much we never see.

I know nothing of calm here
I worship entropy in the dark-
and everyone knows i'm full of it

full of missing you
and your bittersweet smile
and im so into it

full of bones aching and shaking during the night and
intensely adoring you
so intense that
my hands shake whenever i try to hole someone else
with fear of loving another

even the skies know it
they pour and pour
but nothing, nothing at all
beats the feeling of missing you and adoring you both so fiercely
so saturated with our rainstorms
tenderness
that i wonder how we haven't drowned out yet

I guess thats what missing you felt like-
a storm that could hold it all

Let it be forgotten, as a flower is forgotten,
Forgotten as a fire that once was singing gold,
Let it be forgotten for ever and ever,
Time is a kind friend, he will make us old.

If anyone asks, say it was forgotten
Long and long ago,
As a flower, as a fire, as a hushed footfall
In a long forgotten snow.
