A Mess of Words
The highway din is much the same
At 3am as it is at ten
Here I am in an oversized bed
Probably subconsciously
Praying for an early dawn
A day ago I was
On the other side of this odd world
In a place where dreamers
Could fall in love every day
Now hastened back to this dreary place
Too readily reminded of this
Weight of loneliness
not a poem really, just current thoughts/reflection

A leaf it wanders slowly down,
A creek while turning red to brown.
Forgetting all that came before,
Decaying more and more and more.

Once vibrant green and full of life,
This fragile leaf is now in strife.
For soon the creek it will become,
A faster flowing river run.

An older leaf it always knows,
How water in the river flows.
It’s fast and fierce and never kind,
It leaves the older leaves behind.

To watch the river flowing past,
To see it all go by so fast.
To sit and watch, and want but lack,
To slowly turn from brown to black.

The Awkward Bard
A secret buried
Blooms lies, and in time, they turn
Themselves, to secrets.

There is peace to find
In this world so wide.
Where is it, you ask?
Intimacy with the Creator.

Only amber could capture
the abandoned embers
on which we’ve exhausted every breath.
Cooled into insignificant ash
we’ve swept them under the rug.
Unbeknownst to the watchful eye
they lie perpetually dormant.
An existence forgotten,
a potential made obsolete.

if there is only 18 months left of green
i want to make sure it’s not bittersweet
hold your hand in the shade of the apple tree
and remember what it’s like to
fall in love

I like to believe, we meet people for a reason,
Wether God sent me to change your life,
Or God sent you to change mine.

The four walls that surround me
Once freeing now trap me
Nowhere to go
Nothing to do
In this jail that I outgrew

Im banging on the walls
Smashing chairs and dreams
Tearing them at the seams
Trying to see a crack of light
Behind the walls
In this jail that I outgrew

Alas I give in
No matter what I cannot win
My knuckles are bloodied
My chest heaving
I've given it all I've got
And I'm trapped again
In this jail that I outgrew
