anger.
meqan Jan 2019
anger tends to creep up silently,
much like a cat would to its prey.

anger dwells in the pit of your stomach,
slowly eating away all other emotions.

it steals your happiness, your pride,
your everything.

until you’re nothing more than
a ball of anger and sadness.

marijuana-induced silence.
meqan Jul 2019
it took a few moments,
but we eventually found it.
the most amazingly beautiful
place to rest our fragile bodies
and our unique minds.

we sat up for a few moments,
giggling at our high thoughts
and eating our sour gummy
worms. eventually, we just
stared into each other's eyes.

"let's lay down," they suggested.

a soft chuckle left my chapping
lips as we laid back onto the
scratchy and dry grass. putting
on a romantic playlist full of indie
rock, we stop speaking.

we attempted to look up at the sky,
but it seemed to get increasingly
blinding as each moment slipped by.
we closed our eyes, seeing an assortment
of bright yellows and oranges overhead.

our breathing synced, our minds became
one. somehow, despite neither of us uttering
even a single syllable. we were communicating.
bonding, even. for hours, we remained in this
comfortable marijuana-induced silence.
a friend and i remained in a park for hours with our eyes closed. doing nothing. we later found out that we were both hallucinating that entire time and i thought that was just hilarious.

fingers burn like fire.
the cold winter wind nips them;
burning and freezing.

apart.

skin on skin,
heart to heart.

i would rather die,
than be apart.

strings.
meqan Jan 2019
invisible strings;
tugging on my eyelashes,
slowly closing them.
i don’t want to fall asleep,
for i might never wake up.
when i was younger,
i feared sleeping because
i was constantly plagued
with nightmares.

ensorcelled.
meqan Jan 2019
the moon once ensorcelled me,
it left me quite confused.
for i could never understand,
how it quickly moved.

sitting in the backseat
of a moving car.
i would watch with curious eyes,
waiting for it to stay back far.

but that never happened,
and it always kept close.
the moon was my friend,
it was what i needed most.
don't know how i feel about this one, but it's okay.
this is probably just free verse,
but it might fit the criteria for a different style
of poetry.
