I fell in love with the mornings
and waking up to breakfasts in bed
drinking coffee only you would know how to make

I fell in love with noon
and the lunches we had together
talking about the latest news over takeout

I fell in love with the afternoons
and the times we spent reading on the couch
eating every word interrupted by coffee stains

I fell in love with the nights
and our stupid little adventures
driving aimlessly and getting lost on the highway

I fell in love with the midnights
and talking to you about anything and everything
watching you stare at my mouth listening to every word

I fell in love with the moments
and everything in between the beginning and the end
wishing I could still spend them with you

I fell in love with the sound of your voice
and the feel of your existence
but I am not in love with you.

Moments in life that jab hearts
And make you forget all the bad parts
Short, but potent enough to leave a permanent stain on your memory
Unsexual Intimacy
That tickles both spirits
Forever wishing you could relive it
Your simple presence
The memory and feelings are the only remnants
Inexplicable intenseness
Takes you back to those intense moments in life
POEM 68*

The curtain dances the breeze
through the window
chasing the sun slowly
across the wall
until it highlights your face.
You begin to stir,
one eye opens
as your hand
reaches over to
where my heart is racing
toward good bumps.
You move closer,
place your head on my shoulder
and return to sleep,
as a dream’s smile
covers your lips.
~~~
I have always loved
watching you sleep;
your breast rising,
falling
to the song
only you sing.
~~~
This song,
the one that wakes me
to the morning sun,
that carries me through the day,
is also the song
that now eludes me,
shatters my hopefulness
and carves shadows
all through my heart.
~~~
Every morning,
as the curtain dances
the Autumn breeze
and the sun climbs my wall,
I wonder,
why have you gone?
Will I ever hear from you again?
*Aztec Warrior 10.7.15
I carried love like loose change
tucked in the backs of my pocket,
clattering like cheerful tambourines,
evident with every
exuberant swing of my hip
and ready to be given
in the right amounts
with no expectation of anything
extra in return
We must not forget
to acknowledge the stillness
that lives around us.
I hear them all,
I hear them say:
This Love you feel,
Is not meant to stay.
This love is so strange
It'll drive you mad
Smiling through tears
At the thought of what you had.
I hear them whisper, "we are nothing but blind"
Their voices get tangled in my mind.
They question me
And never let me see
When will they just let this love be?
I hope* you read this letter
every word between the lines
I hope you read the frustration
with what I could not confide
I hope you read the anger
that's left me such a mess
I hope you read the million questions
rattling my little head
I hope you read these swollen eyes
when they were still yours to see
I hope you read these supple lips
when with yours, would still agree
I hope you read these warm fingers
when yours were still willing to hold
I hope you read the little lies
that left your promises bold
I hope you read the love
inevitably bled
I hope you read the hope
amid all the things unsaid
I hope you read the resentment
of letting go so soon
I hope you read these lines
the last ones I write for you
My love for you is a different kind,
less explosive and hardened;
no longer plagued by ecstasy.
No romance, roses, or advances.
My love for you is a different kind,
not light-hearted, friendly, or smooth,
lacking tact, natural, or loose.
Not friendship, laughter, and chances.
My love for you is a different kind,
ostracized in form, yet firm, careful,
restless, persistant, and withdrawn.
Not lost, forgotten, or resentful.
My love for you is a different kind,
now,
and I don't know what to do.
Tired. So very very tired. I am not sure what I feel for him anymore, but it is tearing me apart.
