Most days she does not remember what day of the week it is or what time it is
But she always remembers how much I love her
Sometimes she calls me by the wrong name and can’t get her words right
But she always remembers to tell me how beautiful I look today
Most days she cannot form a full thought or complete a full action
But she always remembers she wants her tea with honey and lavender is her favorite scent
A lot of days she asks me the same question 17 times and gets the same answer each time
But she always remembers to tell me how much she loves me
You see Alzheimer’s is tricky and it toys with her head
But she always remains a beautiful soul with a heart full of gladness and an undying love for orchids

Whether a comma, or colon:
Punctuation slows my rolling
I need no period. When I end
no Capitalization when I begin
Rulelessly I flow my art
  Not a single!
Exclamation mark
Are you not the one
Who'll know?
Where a question mark
No longer goes

Warp the structure
Bend the lines
Put in repeat
Let emotion unwind
Make yourself
Your poetry's the best
Be your own ruler
Pass your own test

Take your own road
Where ever it leads
Lover or hater
It's all poetry!

Hay
No matter who you are
You have my deepest respect!

Vanity
All is vanity
The meanings of passion
The aesthetic expression
The lines we draw and stay within
Even love is beyond intent
Vanity transcends
Flowing from our pens
And so we breathe again

Sometimes I perch you
       on my shoulder.

I ask you to read
        my newest poem

look inside my soul
        and tell me

        everything

when I
forget to
remember
there was
good stuff
too, I

want to
forget to
remember
all the bad.

Start where you are. Hike your own journey, being careful
of rocks in the road. Use your inside voice. Remember
everyone has a story needing to be heard. Look for the tall
people in ALDI - they can reach the string cheese on the top shelf.
A repeated mistake is a decision. Every day, breathe outside air.
Read: street signs, back-of-the-box instructions, your housemates'
faces. If you can't be kind, be quiet.

Tonight I taste your cancer,
my memory of your agony so real
and tangible

that I try hard to get rid of it -
mints, toothpaste, mouthwash, soap.

Tonight I hear your cancer too -
the brutality of your words was the vehicle
that tried to burn our bridges.

If I could do just one thing tonight,
I would reach out and hold your freezing hand,
one more time.
Miss you, Mom

The greater the joy
The greater the pain

With knowing the sun
Will turn into rain

Doesn't help me to grieve
Doesn't help me at all

Watching her leave
And feeling the fall

So incredibly high
Now swimming in tears

I was touching the sky
With our love through the years

dried blood bonds your jeans
to your skin
bright red gashes
where scar tissue had been
ripping fabric away
for beads of blood to bloom
head in your hands
on the floor of your bathroom

the relapse into madness
knowing you're ******
from the first tally
stinging showers
and red bathwater
drowning yourself in
symptoms of your disorder
red becomes a drug
pain becomes a solace
stuck in a cycle
of destruction to calmness

Oh, sweet thing,
What's making you sad?
Flowers grow upside down
Inside your restless head
Their invisible thorns
Won't let you leave your bed
Oh, sweet thing,
Always feeling blue
Can't you see the only one
Who's driving you mad
Is you?
