Sally's Seashells
RyMo Mar 2018
What if Sally never sold the seashells?
What if she simply strolled the seashore without wanting any more?
With nothing to do but to love and adore?
Because she knew well that deep down in her core,
She had more in this present moment than ever before.
So instead of setting up shop and selling some shells,
She took a moment to stop and started smelling the smells.
Sally smelt the breeze both wispy and sweet,
And she felt the ocean kissing her feet.
And in that present moment she understood the truth,
That wealth was not acquired behind some seashell booth,
But rather it was in the sea and in the shells themselves,
And never could it be found on some capitalistic shelves,
Sally smiled because she knew so much more than before,
She smiled because she knew the tide would bring more shells ashore.
*inspired by the low tide in Puerta Penasco, Mexico in October 2017*

Waiting to Go Nowhere
RyMo Mar 2018
Waiting to go nowhere, standing by the door,
Thoughts are swirling all around the ceiling to the floor,
People stare with eyes that judge, but they do not know,
The darkness and the light each which grow in me slow,
Yes together but apart it’s sometimes hard to tell,
One day whispers softly yet another it might yell,
A child screams, it stirs me up,
I want to scream right back “shut up!”
Like magma rising from the deep,
Fast at first but then it creeps,
The lava burning the present that be,
The fire blinding my eyes to see,
Although I can sense it it’s harder to stop,
The bubble gets bigger and weakens to pop,
Then I’m left standing there cold and alone,
Wanting nothing more but to fold and go home,
The fire it transforms to ice in my chest,
Smoldering visions of me at my best,
Shedding a tear for the darkness within,
Quieting back down just to rise again,
The breath takes back over, leading the way,
Presence in consciousness now here to stay,
Yet nothing is permanent, the good and the bad,
Fleeting like every emotion we’ve had,
Here in the moment but then gone the next,
Leaving my soul feeling perplexed,
Wondering how but not asking why,
Choosing to crawl when I could just fly,
The light brings wings but the darkness adds weight,
Trying to escape my preconceived fate,
Feeling too tired to chew and then swallow,
Feeling the hole in my soul grow hollow,
Sometimes a vacuum is how it appears,
Filled with the worst of the worst of my fears,
Darker than skies on nights of new moons,
Like a storm out on the horizon looms,
Lightning and thunder and buckets of rain,
The sky opens up and cries out my pain,
No one to hear and no one to see,
My soul screams out just wanting to flee,
Thoughts still swirling from ceiling to floor,
Waiting to go nowhere, standing by the door…

Lessons From the Sun
RyMo Mar 2018
The meaning of life weighs down on me,
Present moment - still - just be,
Sunshine kisses on my cheek,
Travelled miles just to peak,
One glance at me,
Just quick to see,
And then you fade away,
Like all else here to stay,
But in a moment disappears,
Then in the next it reappears,
Meaning blending all as one,
Gleaning knowledge from the sun,
Teachings there if just to reach,
Reaching for the just to teach,
Rays of light sparkle meaning,
But further - deeper - always fiending,
More and more of this and that and those,
Wondering of whom the path has chose,
Wandering through the forest of smoke,
To climb the tree of knowledge and oak,
Meaning is what the tree conceives,
How roots feed trunks feed branches feed leaves,
Energetic forces of the stuff between,
The grey area of all that’s left unseen,
Fading into the atmosphere,
Fate coming ever near,
Joining as one like smoke in air,
Feeling the truth of the moment fair,
Hearing the tunes of the moment sung,
Climbing the closest ladder rung,
Finding meaning in the riffs,
Of ever present moment gifts…

Imagine your life as your dreams come true,
Then let it go and watch it come back to you,
We don’t have to know the how’s or the when’s,
Just hold the “what” in your mind’s eye within,
Steadfast and true we must be to ourselves,
So in the right direction we focus our delves,
Don’t think too hard lest you depart from the flow,
Feelings are stronger for truth they do show,
Born to create as our natural way,
Our dreams are alive and here to stay.
