Caveat Emptor
with burnish of false veneer
he spouted words
to thine ear
as an unknowing
dill one listened
one had succumbed
to the warbler's charming
sound
that time honored adage
doth hold so true
be of guarded view
whence a dodgy line
is sold unto you
ne'er settle for a spurious
claim of love
the warbler
unto your heart
states his undying devotion
yet there is no substance
to his currency's
valuation
polls indicate she'll incur a considerable loss
her government is so policy bereft
her tenure in office has had little or no gloss

we seek an alternative not of the left
the national economy sorely needs rescue
her government is so policy bereft

our nation would like a mob with a clue
we've suffered three years of her administration
the national economy sorely needs rescue

voters shall ensure her government has a vacation
a new Prime Minister leading us into the light
we've suffered three years of her administration

we'll rid the parliament of her blight
in September ballot boxes shall do the talking
a new Prime Minister leading us into the light

at the last election she promised she'd do the walking
in September ballot boxes shall do the talking
polls indicate she'll incur a considerable loss
her tenure in office has had little or no gloss
her mental faculties
once sharp as a tack
had suffered
a most insidious attack

bit by bit
as the months went by
those many recollections
in her brain did die

her husband watched
her slowly deteriorate
at the end she couldn't even
open the front gate

she was losing
her mental capabilities
her yesterdays eaten away
by time's unkind insensitivities

those many brain cells
ceasing to function well
her mind became
a most depleted shell

not a thing could be retained
or kept for an hour
her mind was ebbing
and failing in power

Bailed (Italian Sonnet)
He languished in a dark prison cell
Justice had not been correctly served
The years he'd spent in jail undeserved
His freedom taken for a lengthy spell
The evidence found him to be guilty
Which ensured he'd be locked away
His mistake being in the area on that day
Witness statements caught the wrong identity
The appeals to higher courts moved slow
His lawyer fought for his client to be freed
But the justice system kept him jailed
A man who'd seen the offense made a show
He well recalled the day of the deed
Months later the prisoner was bailed
softly whisper in my ear
those words I love to hear
they are ever so dear

whisper those words my dear
they'll take me to a wonderland
those words I love to hear

our love shall always be grand
forever those words shall stay
they'll take me to a wonderland

darling you're the light in my day
hold me ever close to your heart
forever those words shall stay

your enduring love you'll impart
our affection shall beautifully play
hold me ever close to your heart

the world shall be a shining display
our affection shall beautifully play
softly whisper in my ear
they are ever so dear
Some time ago one went on a little trip*
To check out the internet poetry landscape
What one saw remained in the mind's tape
A movie reel which had a compelling grip
Poet's comments were of such cliquish old rock
Like being an exclusive remarking club
Outsider verses left out of their hub
The scenery verily stunned one with much shock
One so wishes one had not gone away
A dream of venturing did disenchant
The roads lead to (an in house favouring)
After sighting the terrain's mode of sway
Taking a journey one may well recant
*These vistas weren't enjoyable savouring

Amnesia
yet again the sound
of guns fire
they fire in fits of ire
the guns aren't silenced
of their tragic sound
the guns issue
volley on volley of rounds
we hear them from afar
we hear them at close range
they're firing across
the Ukraine
they're firing in Iraq
yet again
the guns shall keep firing
to the regret of us all
the guns seemingly
can't be forestalled

an amnesia
has taken over the brains
of the firing men
when will they from
the gun abstain
the look at only me syndrome

avert not your gaze from me

Recall Phase
the mind often traces back
to events of the past
the recall of these memories
endure and last

the day Johnny started school
back in nineteen sixty three
the night the possum
jumped out of the old gum tree

the memories flood black
they are relived for a while
the ones that made you cry
so too the ones that made you smile

they are stored in the mind
for our recollection
pictures in our photograph gallery
our own personal collections

this is nostalgia
reflecting on events of past days
bought to mind every so often
when our thoughts are in recall phase

out front of the parade
the piper plays
his devoted followers
skip along
to the tune he plays
they skip to it
all the live long day
his notes make such an impression
on their minds
they are powerful
coercive
in their process

to his address

they are blind to the piper's
flawed tune

Mr Abbott hasn't a snowball's chance in hell
Of getting the Senate to pass his tax sell
The numbers are stacked well against him
Passing this legislation is looking rather slim

He's been all around the country selling his pitch
But the electorate thinks its a *******
Pressure is building up in government ranks
They know they'll receive a whipping to the flanks

Opposing senators don't want a bar of the bill
Within the next few months they'll be a spill
A double dissolution election shall clear the air
That will surely sort out what is and isn't fair

The voters require utmost sanity to prevail
As they've taken enough of Abbott's rude mail
The conundrum in parliament must be attended to
For it is causing one heck of a hullabaloo

a pity of ashes, were strewn well about
love lying in ruins, the fire burnt out

embers expired, the flame not living
smouldering heap, love's timber burnt out

finished passion's taper, no visible flicker
ardor had lost its shine, all twas burnt out

no more elan for the two, the spark gone
love's crackling unheard, a flint had burnt out

verve's bright gusto did dissipate, as the days passed by
an ash mound within hearts, love's cinders all burnt out
