something can hit you
upset your life
destroy you daily routine
make you aware
of the fragility of life

and of the statistically proven fact
     rarely ackkowledged
that bad things may also happen to you
not only to others
I see the hurt reflected in your eyes
A sad, sapphire, sea of enormous size
I'm drowning in the depths of your deep despair
It kills me to know I'm the reason for the pain in your stare.
I have been coming up with some great puns lately

skyler
perhaps
we always drift together
because our hearts
know more
than our minds

s.s
You bring out my cruel side
The part that is stubborn and mean
Weak and far too difficult
Carelessly obscene

I am loud and critical
I never stop debating
These are your exact words
"Cold and calculating"

You trample me gleefully
With words you say
But I am taking a stand
This frozen winter day

You have given me a reason
What I have waited for so long
To shout "I'm not stupid and ugly,
It's time someone told you you're wrong!"

To my relief
And sincere surprise
I find those tired words
Are only selfish lies
An old one about my brother
this is
where two points collide/
where a body meets a soul/
where that gold tint in the skyline
is a reminder of how a past lover’s hair
appeared in the sunlight.

this is the place where the sky falls;
sun, moon, stars, and clouds
hit the ground. they crash
and they burn.

the ocean spills out so many gentle words.
but like love tokens in the night time
they mean nothing when
what is done
is done.
we are what we are.
scarred and unmade.
messy and undone.

what is holy?
is it the way you hold your lips,
or the straightness of your spine?
the glistening of skin in the moonlight
or the kiss of sweat on your forehead?
or is that just human?

when did i ever
stop being able to tell
the true difference?

in this place where
our points collide
and our stars align
something
slants in our sky
and it falls/flies/forces itself
upon the horizon

inside our rear view
is something we’ll forget
leave the past behind

and the stars,
they shall follow.

you loved "me"
but you did not really love "me"
you loved the idea of "me"
but the vision of "me" you had
was the same one
of a million other girls
even guys
in the crowd

— i was a diamond to you, but diamonds didn’t mean much when you were in a mine full of them.
You said to the moon and back, how was I supposed to know that was really the distance between us? “Forever” is just a word, and “always” is just a lie. You changed the notes to our love song, strung them into broken pieces of what we used to have. I want you to stay, but it kills me to see your face. Your stuff takes up all my space, the silence in it all echo’s through my room.
You once said we dug ourselves into a hole to hide from the world, the ones against us. Who knew you’d ditch me in the ditch we dug, with no way out. Fellas walk by, but you keep me preoccupied. Trying to find a way out without you.
I think back to the night it all ended. You ruined my heart, so in return, I ruined my rug and my liver. You dried out my eyes, I found nothing sadder than our ending, nothing made me cry. Finding my tears meant digging deep back into myself. Letting someone in gives them permission to hurt you. I vowed that night to never let that happen again. Tissues in one hand, and my bottle in the other.

Midnight
The funny thing is...
I laugh in the shadows
And scheme in the light*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I lurk in the depths
And cry when I stumble.
I walk through the fields
And scream when I'm fine.
I tantalize the men
And shrink when they pounce.
I flirt with the ladies
But disappear when they come.
I beg lovers to change
But complain when they try.
I seek out the demons
And lead the angels astray.
I can't seem to decide
To choose the good over bad.
But I sure can complain
And I sure cannot change.
It's getting annoying
My heart pays the price.
But I'm still dancing with devils
And there's no end in sight.
Whatever is wrong with me.
