On the edge of autumn,
I see the sky and trees all
ablaze with color.
I can still smell the
smoldering fires of fierce youth,
when the landscape of my
heart was wild;
a wilderness that wouldn't
be tamed.
But I'm afraid that
old age has quenched my
thirst for adventure.
Even my poems have lost their teeth.
Gone are my scabbed up knees and
swords made out of sticks.
No beautiful maidens to rescue;
Just constipation to overcome;
as I listen to the
ticking of the clock.
A man
in long pants,
balaclava,
snow gloved,
grubby fingers,
threadbare jacket,
with logos,
adorned ugly,
foggy goggles,
gold front tooth,
reached up,
and stole,
my pants,
on a ski lift.

Leaving me
naked...
and cold
This monologue is meant to be interpreted in a number of ways.  Is it humorous?  Is it sad?  To you feel bad for the impoverished man?  Is he the protagonist?  If so, am I the antagonist?  You get to decide for yourself.  Let me know what story you see in this poem.
Oh sweet little lamb
Feed happily on Facebook
Instagram delight
Biased news media
Streaming through the night
Chew your Youtube
And accept your fate
As you consume digitally
And get loaded as the freight
No keypad mashing
Will free you from this crate
As you become consumer meal
Adorning corporate plates
Be careful digital generation.  Many of your kin have already fallen to toxic consumerism and fake news mills that are designed to keep you uninformed.  Go to the library once in a while and read a scholarly article to get your facts.  And always remember, you are just a payday to international corporations.  No matter what their advertisements say.
Despair and disrepair
Fingers caught
In knotted hair
Anxious worry twirling
Alone in wicker chairs
Longing for a comedy
As we are given tragedy
Sweet words to be
Could bring some levity
And some hope
Would bear great gravity
As it pulled me
back from my dark clouds
Ink
Some time since ink bled
On these lazy fingertips, poet
Clean hands; a disgrace!
I've dreamt a little dream
Tucked it in, safe and snug
In that little corner of my mind
Resting, 'til it feels that tug

When my heart gives a call
As it sees my eyes begin to awaken
The dream will break its slumber
The cloak of past defeats, gladly forsaken

I stand, eager and willing
To embark proudly into the night
With confidence my armour
And my only friend, the moonlight

Shadows no longer scare me
As they follow me down the road
My doubts and insecurities left behind
No worries, I've finally broken the code

I wade through the darkness
To reach the other side
My nervous shakes' not a weakness
But a roar to the tide

I will swim through the tumultous waters
Of destiny and time
The stars will no longer write my fate
Let the clock chime
Some days it feels like the world has twisted
Like the earth took a wrong rotation
Then it tried to fix it
but something didn't quite fit
There must be a crack somewhere
Where we all keep stumbling
One after another, day after day
Like a pile of dominoes
Welcome to the year 2020
20 dominoes that fell down
1...2...3...4...
20 things that went wrong

WORDS are my blessings.

WORDS are my curse.

There's a lot of past and more of the future.
A lot of crying and many more tears, of joy and sadness
Dumped In this huge pile of Present.
Which we are unhappy with.
Hoping to get more,
More more than we can.
More than we deserve.
What is this pressure?
Sharp like a razor.
Bleeding through the nibs of our pens and literature.
And us?
What about US?
What are we going to do with all this future?

And if it was for me,
And if it was for you,
To decide, what we will get in our life,
Would we still be able to get what we want?
