Many times I get asked what anime is. I wear anime t-shirts, I watch it with glee, I fantasize about it and have conversations about it as well. I go to conventions, I discuss it with my friends nitpicking at strong foes, and I even supported toonami coming back. Yet this question of what anime is always makes me pause. What is anime? I always think about it and I am always unsure of it. It's almost like theaters and movies, anime has many genres such as drama, romance, and even tragedy. Yet sometimes people argue that anime is nothing more than a cartoon. I could say that cartoons are only meant for kids but anime includes that as well. I could say anime has different art styles, but the same could be said for cartoons as well. I could say anime is more Japanese oriented but anime has no limitations. People question it however the same could be said of theater. Why do people love tragedy? Why do people wish to see a girl die from cancer? Why do people wish to see a couple being put through a lot? Why do people enjoy death? Anime has many genres like theater, anime has death, tragedy, and yes even **** Do not judge anime by it's differences, do not say it's simply a cartoon. Because to some people it is their theater, their muse, their life, and their dreams and inspirations.

Everything in quotations marks and italics was written by TS Eliot. eyes knowing glossy men, sheer women, creatures, not all artists, but artists, always thus, centrifugal, simple from their core, emanate, resonate, expand the exterior with interior precision sculpting to the interior delve, via brush or limb, pen or music, the exposition, the exploration, the reconstruction of composing one's self, creation and destruction of your own myths movement of arms and legs, sparseness of simplicity subsidiaries of centricity, tributaries of complexity, oriented to their locality the simple purpose of inhalation, to exhale, after transformation, the calculus of thought into emotion: *"the tongues of flame are in-folded into the crowned knot of fire and the fire and rose are one"* the dancers hear the music: *"so deeply that it is not heard at all, but you are the music while the music lasts."* **”Quick now, here, now always – A condition of complete simplicity (Costing not less than everything) And all shall be well and All manner of thing shall be well"**

"A condition of complete simplicity"
All you have to offer me is broken English but what you get in return is a broken heart! "Hi cute pic u me friend?" you ping me randomly; I am sorry dude,my picture didn't respond! Not just you,but all the guys from your clan have a typical dressing style that I can note from your photos. A smug face, bright colored clothes, unkempt hair; cigarette burnt lips and alcohol shot eyes! Don't judge me, I am just sharing my observation but I appreciate your perseverance of sending multiple messages! "Hey u","Reply and expect* me","Don't put scene^","Fraandship#??","Change new pic" and all I could think of is "Not happening bro!!" Wondering why I wrote this ode to you?! You are a hero man! An unsung hero in your own world! When science and technology advances, when countries and continents fight and make up all you can think of is this random girl who is ignoring you!Talk about goal-oriented!! You have a dumpy old computer with an internet connection and a Facebook account and you want to have girls who you don't even know; You are more ambitious than Shakespeare's Brutus! You get irritated looks from all the girls you stalk, Yet you are unaffected as you never get to know that!! I envy your spirit, I envy your hard-work!! Burning the midnight oil to get ignored by girls you don't even know! Though you stalk this much, in reality you are shy to even talk! You are a mystery, a dark knight I might say!! Whatever anyone says, I know you wont give up!! You are a big challenge for all those privacy setting developers, you creep and crawl through the web so much and still you always remain -A random stalker!!

workplace illusions
My ascent into adulthood was just that, an ascent. It has come slowly with little consistency and massive amounts of determination, stamina, and a reassuring trust in the universe. But the idea of adulthood has slipped its way into my expanding comfort zone with ease, which I think has come from the preparation I received throughout my childhood. The importance of perseverance and hard work in achieving anything at all was beyond emphasized in the parenting techniques of my immigrant mother and father. They sent the babies straight from their unemployed bellies into the best forms of higher education they could find because My achieving of adulthood was more of just a gradual shift in mentality and perspective that developed into my addiction to change and new experiences, distaste for dependence, and denial of my previous nostalgic tendencies. With more maturity also came a more logical understanding of the world around me. The more I understood the working ways of my surroundings, physical and psychological, the better I could feel my drive to achieve. The achievement I sought was not economic or career oriented in any aspect. It was based off of my ceaseless search for something new or for the rad or for the gnar or for swagger or for living a life that could inspire a minimum of 3 people including myself. The seed of this search was planted in me during my childhood by my five older siblings who all held within their bellies a fire of the same breed.

I truly believe that one of the reasons that the US is despised and condemned world wide is because of such views on such characteristics as: honesty, integrity, independence(this includes not thinking in a collective mindset which we do as a culture, everything is apple or windows, pepsi or cola, republican or democrat, people need to think for themselves stop claiming and just be), persistence, determination, morale, empathy, tradition/heritage, learning, chivalry, discernment, and humility. Instead of utilizing and perfecting these people of this nation and similar one's have become: prideful, dependent, drive-less, imprudent/unwise, insulting, ignorant(willfully so), objective, biased, crude, mediocre, and surface oriented. In turn we have neglected the responsibilities we have of ourselves. This has resulted in physical, mental, and spiritual capacity regression on a mass scale. Most people have no idea what they are consuming in their daily dietary intake(I mean really know what all the ingredients are and what they do whether positive or negative). Most citizens have also become, literally and according to the United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organization, mentally incapable and completely inane as compared to even 15yrs ago. We have forgotten how to have a community to the point that neighbors don't know each other anymore. We have exchanged the truly important things in life like knowledge and wisdom for wealth and appearance. We have completely forgotten how to survive without the aid of water treatment, electricity, and useless objects. One of the worst of all things we have stopped doing, is being involved with our government; instead, we have put our trust in them without oversight, and this is why we have been losing our liberties. I believe, just like Benjamin Franklin stated, that any individual who sacrifices even one liberty for safety/security... deserves to have all of their liberties eradicated. In conclusion, it is time to return our societies to ourselves. We need to relearn the truly important things in life and start living with ourselves, each other, and nature as we must to thrive. It is on us as a people to repair what generations before us, and our generations are doing; lest, I am afraid, our children and grandchildren will inherit the same ideals and expand upon them until we regress to the point that insolence, ignorance, and imprudence is the common norm... we have already begun to accept these. Open your eyes to the truth, at first it will be painful and difficult, but than you will be set free. WE THE PEOPLE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR FUTURES AND CHILDREN'S FUTURES.

There are categories.... Positive: Narcissists think they are better than others. Inflated: Narcissists' views tend to be contrary to reality. In measures that compare self-report to objective measures, narcissists' self-views tend to be greatly exaggerated. Agentic: Narcissists’ views tend to be most exaggerated in the agentic domain, relative to the communion domain. Special: Narcissists perceive themselves to be unique and special people. Selfish: Research upon narcissists’ behaviour in resource dilemmas supports the case for narcissists as being selfish. Oriented towards success: Narcissists are oriented towards success by being, for example, approach oriented.

I Am A Narcissist
Sunday's newspapers come on Saturday, coupons spill out torrentially. weekend manna from publisher's hell. makes my breathing heavy, from studious inspection, so many needs unmet. I fall to pieces every weekend, securely knowing, I'm lacking in so many things, feeling my insecure neediness keenly. my Target is feverishly simple, solution oriented. no can find any discounts for new rhythms, new rhymes, life high fivers to satisfy, adhere, and revere, that would be my Best Buy. but I'm clipped, the coupons, not.

Sunday's newspapers come on Saturday
I have faith in medical science But little in practice. Straight spined doctors Racing stopwatches against Their appointment books. Extolling the virtues of thousands of years of medical research But unable to consider anyone's opinion other than their own. Kindly, soft-voiced nurses shuffling from Room to room Doling out condolences and reassurances Paired with regimens Of drugs and IVs. While Old Time in the ticking clock Slows To a dead crawl. And the noise of heartbeats on machines And discussions out in the hall And loved ones distracting and pacifying patients in beds Layer on top of one another to form a firm blanket of Crushing. Boredom. And the antiseptic smell does nothing to ease The passing of time spent waiting While the medical machine spins its wheels To the chime of slot machines. And the bustling rush outside a curtain On hard white floors, Does less than lend a sense a peace But more of frantic urgency. Minute long - task oriented visits Where they know names, numbers, and insurance coverage And they know how many steps it takes for them To lend more of their valuable time In that modern balance of cost and care. Leaving me wondering, Where did the connection go? I wonder where peoples' trust went And when it was replaced with, "How much will this cost me?"

Hospital (Emergency Room Talk)
Excuse me Mam! Can I intrest U in a mutural gift? A possible win-win senario. Please pause a moment from U'r very busy day. Pause to listen and let down your guard. I am very sincere! Though i admit, a bit of an introvert. But underneath it all, I am a good person. I am dillagent and goal oriented. Though i admit, a bit obsesive. But underneathn it all, I am a good person. I follow the Rules! I try to please my peers and superiors. Though i admit, not always accomplished. But underneath it all, I am a good person. My accomplishments are noteworthy Though i admit, I am not of riches. But underneath it all, I am a good person. In some uncertain way, My love of life is bonded by these chains. Your inocent interest could set me free, if only for a moment. For the moment that U share, I would be a transformed person. Though i admit, not a person of the world. But underneath it all, I can make U happy to. Regards, Jerry

Underneath It All (2)
My own person is healthy and courageous. My own person is self-aware and emotionally intelligent. He is growth-oriented, resourceful and positive. My own person is supportive, thoughtful, kind and empathetic. My own person is ready to take accountability, communicate and work through things even when the going gets rough. My own person desires to make me happy, chooses me and shows up for me. He is sure about me and healthily obsessed with me. My own person encourages and lifts me up when I’m at a low point. My own person does not disappear when I need him. My own person protects me. He knows how to introspect, reflect and has a desire to be better. My own person does not make me feel small or irrelevant. My own person is a secure place where I can feel at home. My own person is expressive. He is a source of light when I am in a dark place. My own person is as sure about me as the sun rises and sets without our asking, with certainty; regardless of the weather, timezone or location.

My Own Person
I. Apply foundation in a tone more perfect than the one you're born with, doubt that there's anything beautiful in the term "natural" blot your lips with the cherries you deprive yourself of and wonder, "What good is difference when it's not appreciated?" stop reading this. II. Forget how you were born; every freckle, every beauty mark, every uneven line etched into your face are nothing to be celebrated. Deprecate yourself, you are unwound and beg this world to shape you in its eyes. skip this line. Society speaks subjectively of happiness, but fill your head with lies that we're all pretty if we can keep up our disguise. The weight of this world upon your shoulders, alludes to being big as too much to handle. Curl into everyone's palm as if you're so fragile, they have to pinch the skin on your bones with the thumb and index finger. stop. III. Draw on the perfectly plump pout, filled with nothing but expectations of everyone else. Your beauty is not a privilege for anyone, but judgment that has defined your worth. skip. Emprises that market upon your insecurities, admire that solemn face in the mirror as the reflection discourages you at the acknowledgement of any impurities Start. How To Be Beautiful Lifelong Admire the history that lives within the heartlines of your palms, how strong you've grown, once cradled in your mother's arms. Disregard where it is you've come from, but how much further you've journeyed forward. I. Apply the sincerity in your best friend's voice when                         she calls the time you've spent together, beautiful. Do not doubt the splendor that comes from wisdom. II. Every wrinkle you've earned, as time gives back to you from lessons learned. Blot your lips during the release of laughter as saliva mists through the air, your joy so vigorous the ghosts residing in the graves regret no more. You are as you should be, a composite of everything that gives you life and grants you purpose. Begging for this world to love you, there is no fault in this desire. They speak of happiness as if it's only a potential-oriented concept, Do not let your heart surround the gossip or it's golden armor become bronzed. III. Draw on the canvas of existence in the brightest of hues, in the purest of love. Filled with nothing, but expecations for yourself say farewell to the darkness open the curtains to light. Your beauty is magnificent as your name will be transcendent. In each day we decide to be ourselves, the poise presents itself. —V.H.

I am not your accessory a statement piece to your spineless connections The thousandth image-oriented festivity That you thoughtlessly threw Due to the boredom of your own reflection I am not a string of pearly witty conversation that you casually bring up when you aren't capable of employing stimulation I am not a magenta lipstick you reach to cover up your mindnumbing gossip about the neighbors indecencies You try to duplicate me and slip your right, then your left foot into vintage leather Jimmy Choos Oh but your archless perception of life Doesn't quite fit your soul next to mine Empathy was never your strong suit Oh but a tailored cold charcoaled judgement suit--that fits just.right. Still you try to wear me, despite discrepancies And oh how you hate the way I mock your silhouette I clash with your champagne clings You try to bash me against silverware but I remain mute "Oh but if I can't make her an accessory, I shall make her an appendage!" Oh how Christian and courteous of you In the same way you asked your bridesmaid to step off the alter when she came out to you on that heavenly day You ask me to be your brothers appendage Oppressive and aloof Asking was always a waste of time for you You expect.

Sister-in-law
Oxblood lips. A slit in the center. A distraught film. Shattered pieces that mimic her wounds. She cries for sorrow and weeps in the name of agony. Flashback. High voltage. Dawn's dew left a Seoul night in the hands of mischief. He watched her golden legs in his dingy shirt. She danced in a tunnel of head lights. His eyes. Oh, God, his realm of roses. A spectrum so broad- no force could obtain. 70s misfit. Shaggy rugs. A cheap bottle of Merlot. Kaleidoscope kisses. Craved like a hieroglyphic. He was her warrior. Plummeting grains of virtue into a dust oriented cushion...seven dollars and thirty one cents. I saw the light bulb touch the birch-wood floral. I could feel a thick metallic wind roar. Breaking the depths. A rugged man with a festive beard. His cheeks of stained silicone lipstick. He had shipped off his soul. He was a white man with a grip of steel. "Who put cookies in the watering bucket?" A naive response. "A wicked man with a lustful cavity." Erosion.Despair.Angst. Thin braids housed a blooming mind. Paint chips splattered the table top, plastering it. Morning.Good morning to luxury. What a splendid contrast. A lantern lit van took the highway by 65 miles. And all the while he never looked back.

Just Like A Woman You focus on the act, The ridiculous derring-do, Laughing at me Cause I chased away In my rumpled ****** The woodpecker that convulsed Our house at 5:00 AM, With a decorative pillow. Focus on the results, says the Results-oriented man. Has Woody ever returned? No and his fate is still unknown, He may fly forever neath our trees, But now he knows to stay away From me and the risk of my pillowy pillory! P.S. I may (or may not) Choose to disclose That upon my return The house still shook, From someone's uproarious, convulsed Laughing at a city boys country heroics. 10:30am June29 2013

never meant for me
Gifted Gifted means nothing to people who do not know I don’t even know the proper definition Strange that I do not know a part of myself? I think not. C’est la vie – such is life But why must only a few be burdened with this white elephant? Yes, a white elephant For although termed a gift, it comes with its own price On my school’s website, on the gifted page, there is a file This file, entitled, giftedness; a different kind of normal Aptly named I think The upsides? Exactly me. The downsides? All perfectly describe me as well My ‘gifted’ friends are just the same Why is this a gift if it sets us back in our standardized culture? Sure, I ace the tests, but I can’t start projects until last minute All because of my perfectionist side I am a ‘deep thinker’ But I hate deadlines because they limit the Time I spend on a good, fascinating subject I’m considered to have the ability to motivate people But it always comes out bossy I'm supposed to have high standards and expectations(which I do) But these fail me when I cannot reach them myself Causing insecurity These traits and numerous others all belong to my kind, the 'gifted' kids I've noticed we're all socially inept, awkward, clumsy To some degree or another And I suppose this analytically mindedness comes along with my plethora of troubles I'm supposed to have many interests, and this is true But it also prevents me from knowing exactly what I want I'm supposed to be very focused, detail oriented But I cannot stand the slightest disturbance These gifts are deemed part of the 'gifted' personality Why can't I be normal for a change? Being gifted really singles you out Such a small group of us in my school Almost all are best friends As no one can understand us better than others just like ourselves But why can't everyone be gifted?

SWINES OF CIVILISATION Alexander K Opicho (Eldoret, Kenya; [email protected]) Hypocrisy, sycophancy and snobbery Are the three swines of human civilisation All are social and power oriented Cradling from egomaniac fibre of human cowardice Complementing one another in to a social blend Of betrayal, despair and stagnation Hypocrisy removes authenticity brick From the mall of civilisation Sycophancy add aghast deficiency To the mall of civilisation Snobbery removes justice and fairness From the mall of civilisation

Swines of Civilisation
the page shivers under my pen like soil when the dam breaks it knows it must change like tinder to my flame inhaling, i consume it and make it a starry night but keeping my ears, to hear the light swell and ebb out beside all hope and along all doubt my brush paints the darkness, colourful and knows it is not ugly, knows it is not cruel but oriented towards the last ocean where the world is but a molecule among it's infinite directions.

Strong Woman
escaping shuddering city voices, lights that sank my salty eyes, searing, long oriented by starlight, today lost in lurid skies. lake waves, anxious to be heard, violently gasping, crashing whispers, restless, under moonlight, corrupted hope, of names last sung, long ago.

Moths
**Like the merchant who claimed to have a spear that could penetrate anything And a shield that nothing could penetrate This is a paradox, and it will be loved by many For the same reasons that many hate As the wise young man with dreadlocks Grows older and wiser... though baldness is his fate He knows when to slow his pace, where haste would make him late In due time his meekness would pay off And they will say "His insignificance made him great." Fly on the wall... unseen to all Watching and laying in wait In his principles he remains grounded, which allows him to levitate Above the chaos And find sanity in madness Sanity... to calculate To make choices, from experience of indecision Without taking aim, to hit his target with utmost precision A rational mind, complimented by gut feeling Result oriented, but if they found out his method It would probably leave them perplexed, like an honest man caught stealing.**

Paradox.
You Tend To Think Up The Most Innovative Things. Your Mind Knows No Limits. You Are Eccentric Without Even Trying To Be. You Are Just Sort Of Naturally Odd. You Aren't A Detailed Oriented Person At All. You Prefer To Focus On Ideas Instead. You Can't Help But Think Outside The Box. As Far As You're Concerned, You Don't Even Know Where The Box Is.

At the risk of being critical You’re nothing but a criminal. You take what you want And even stop to flaunt You thinking you are pretty Makes you have no pity. You take all personal pride From how you look outside. You’re as deep as a saucer And before I go further Let me lay this fact on you Most of us are on to you. We expect so little of you, It makes it hard to love you. There’s so little more to see Than your superficiality. To be sure your looks served To attract me so I swerved And ran along beside you To learn what was inside you But imagine my great surprise To find nothing behind your eyes. As far as I soon came to tell It was like I was talking to a well. But it is okay, cutie, it’s all fine I’ll just move on down the line And find someone with a soul; A personality that is whole. I will find a person who cares About more than clothes and hair You can move on and have fun With some other image-oriented one.
