Lower the flag to half-staff.
Sing out loudly. Repeat the refrain:
Let us honor the legacy
And life of Senator John McCain.

McCain was the son and grandson of navy
Admirals. In his wild past he
Garnered a nickname from fellow students
Due to his cockiness: McNasty.

Later McCain's cockiness
Transformed into pluck, resolve, and verve.
Following in his father's footsteps,
He, too, decided to serve.

McCain proved that he could succeed
Despite not being at the top of his class.
Though he was fifth from the bottom at the
Academy, he would still pass.

Off to Southeast Asia he went.
On one mission while trying to destroy
A power plant, his plane was shot down
Over the skies of central Hanoi.

Captured, brutally beaten, and tortured,
McCain spent over 2,000 days
At the "Hanoi Hilton"--not what he
Would call in life his happiest phase.

Released in 1973
And broken in body but not in spirit,
He'd serve his country in other ways.
Life gets you down only if you fear it.

Elected to the House in '82
And then to the Senate in '86,
McCain wanted to make a difference
By throwing himself into politics.

In his first run for president,
A smear campaign did him in.
He tried again in 2008,
But again he wasn't meant to win.

A "maverick" they called McCain.
He didn't seek glory, fame, or applause.
Fighting for causes larger than himself
Was truly fighting for a real cause.

Many a politician on both
The right and left would admit to be a fan
Of John McCain. One didn't have to
Agree with him to respect the man.

Not afraid to admit his mistakes,
And though often called a hawk,
McCain came around to admit his error
In having supported the war in Iraq.

He'd also call out the president
If the leader abused his power
Or acted in ways that he considered
Unseemly. McCain would never cower.

McCain was also quick to forgive.
Note his efforts: for peace to thrive,
He pressed to restore relations with
Vietnam in '95.

"We need to learn the lessons of history,"
McCain declared. He also detested
Hearing the media called the enemy.
When he heard that, he protested.

Although he called himself an "imperfect
Public servant," McCain had style.
Not afraid to compromise,
He reached out to colleagues across the aisle.

The "joyful warrior" and "lion of the Senate"
Lived with dignity and honor, and not
Like some people in power to whom
Such qualities are an afterthought.

John McCain's battles in life
And challenges would never cease
Until he succumbed to a brain tumor.
May he now rest in peace!

Lower the flag to half-staff.
Sing out loudly. Repeat the refrain:
Let us honor the legacy
And life of Senator John McCain.

Simply speaking, encouragement with a talk with the Lord in overcoming a Health battle
Heaven holds the key
It’s the amazement for all to see
Health issues Doctors really don’t understand
A call to jesus is in demand
A dial up being prayer
Now let’s continue on from here
Senator John McCain has been diagnosed with Brain Cancer
Father in Heaven look on Senator John McCain
He needs a healing, but if it is your will
Doctors can on rely on a medicine pill
But Jesus you are truly the one that can fulfill
Please heal Senator McCain from the crown of his head to the soles of his feet
Encourage his family to look up
Lord, you are in control and for the family to not get fed up
I am a witness to what you can do
I had health issues at birth
Yet Doctors finalized that I would be leaving this Earth
Death and nothing but Death on the Doctor’s lips
But the Lord had other plans and living being an extended life
The Doctors said I will only live to the age of 7
Witness God’s miracle for all and Senator McCain, I am 60 years old and still living under Heaven’s breathing oxygen
Senator McCain never lose sight
This is only a temporary spite
Healing power coming from above
Blessings that come down below
Senator McCain, please take it slow
Of course be careful and patient as you go
Lord, give Senator McCain my praying hand
Let it reach him like a caravan
This I pray
Connection my relay
Amen on this day.

The president gazed out the White House window.
Squinting to see through the mist and rain,
He gasped as he made out the faint outline
Of the USS John S. McCain.

His pallid face froze in a grimace.
Turning, he said, “That just can’t be.
It has to be an apparition.
How could the ship be here in D.C.?”

Consulting his television set,
He let out a scream of utter disdain.
The image was on his TV screen:
The USS John S. McCain.

Dashing around the Oval Office
Like a madman, completely deranged,
He called his advisers, blathering madly,
"The name of that ship has to be changed!"

Off to Asia the president flew.
As he took in the view from his plane,
Down below him his eyes fell upon
The USS John S. McCain.

"Why…why…must he torment me?"
He asked his wife in a fit of despair.
He bit his lip with so much force,
The blood gushed out, causing a scare.

"Give me a towel!" he yelled. He held it
Up to his lip, which was throbbing in pain.
Moments later the blood left an image:
The USS John S. McCain.

Members of the president's team
Rushed to find places to hide.
Contradicting the angry boss
Would be political suicide.

The president, loving to bully others,
Finds his impulses hard to restrain.
May he be haunted forever and ever
By the USS John S. McCain.

You helped me to see beyond mountains and you achieve above valleys
Senator John McCain, you died with dignity and honor
Your devotion to Politics was Washington, DC’s gain
Your life will always be instilled in our hearts
Your mark being your first time as a Soldier and when you entered the floors of the Senate
Your war battles were strong and fierce
Yet you stayed the course
This gave you strength to be the Senate’s force
Achiever is your accomplishment
Each given speech was your emotions for the American people
Courage was first hand
Arizona mourns
But you passed through in a desert storm being your moment
Cactus trees saluted in honor
It was your mission that you achieved victory in every sense
It didn’t matter if was a battle with President Trump or the GOP
It was your presence in going forth for all to see
You covered both sides of the track being a Soldier and a Senator
You were the Veterans mouthpiece in fighting for their rights
Salute now and forever more
Yet, you want the American people to remember you in always being prepared to do battle
Fighting for what’s right
You opened the Senate floor in plain sight
Your scars are many
But there is only one Senator John McCain
It was commitment and responsibility that were your vital signs
However, your work was complete
Heaven called and said, “I will give you rest”
Each given period in your Senate years was a test
But you always gave your best
You passed each time
This achievement is your reward to Heaven inviting you to come up
Join the many before
Your history will follow for sure
Cannons are going off in the distance in your honor
But your spirit will always have a Washington, DC Capitol presence
You will always be remembered as the Well Spoken Resident
You ask that the American people, Family and Friends in not to cry for you
“I was a Soldier”
Hold your head up
Just Salute
Your victory has already been won
You are now in Heaven being among
Continue on my work you would say, and let my previous words be your guide
From time to time, my spirit will stop by
Washington, DC has loss but became Heaven’s gain
This is not goodbye, but until we meet again
As I laid in the Capitol Rotunda, think on me as a Veteran and a Senator
I salute you Soldier and Senator John McCain
My heartfelt sorrow and remembrance will always remain.

Long live the name
Of John McCain
Who felt some rain
But then again
Knew sunshine too
As we all do
An imperfect man
Through and through

Long live the name
Of John McCain
Who served his country
Without refrain
A prisoner of war
Who bore that stain
With unrivaled courage
Despite the pain

Long live the name
Of John McCain
A flawed man
But all the same
Loved his country
And was never her bane
Both as a sailor
And the senator he became

Long live the name
Of John McCain
Who fought with honor
Simple and plain
How else is there
To explain
That America’s loss
Is heaven’s gain

He isn’t a fan of
John McCain
But the fact of the matter
Will remain
Despite the hurtful
Words he said
John McCain
Is no less dead

John McCain
Was a prisoner of war
The same war
Trump chose to ignore
Yet he is still
Keeping score
Against a dead war hero
Because Trump is a bore

I believe what
Will Shakespeare said
The evil men do
Lives on when they’re dead
From the play Julius Caesar
Which Trump never read
Makes one wonder what goes on
Inside his small head

He’ll never be the man
That John McCain was
You only have to look at
What that narcissist does
To know that he’s sick
Because, because
No one makes more faux pas

I want to get hit by a BMW.
I want to get hit by a Mercedes.
I want to get run over by a Porsche.
Something big.
I want to get smeared against the pavement
by a Cadillac Escalade.
I want to get hit by one of those big *******
who drag gasoline across the continent,
but I want the driver to be a manic psychopath.
I want him to stalk me on the sidewalk
and then run me over slowly.
He's not any coward, not like those bald patriarchal
Corvette drivers in polo shirts tucked into khakis.
No, he's a great fat man, a hairy beast with
a crooked stare that slows the pulse on impact.
I want the police to cringe or get scared interrogating him,
and haul his truck somewhere to be inspected.
I want the price of gas in nearby areas to go up
by at least fifteen cents for two weeks.
I want to get hit by a BMW.
I want to roll over the windshield,
and drag under the bottom for about ten yards.
I want to separate at the middle and leave organs on his
left side view mirror and hanging on his hood ornament.
I want to seep blood deep into his car,
and when he turns on his heat,
he'll smell my blood full blast in his face
burning.
I want to wreck the car inside and out.
I want to get hit by a car with a McCain sticker on the bumper.
I don't want to get hit by some middle class Ford or Honda,
or someone's ****-level Chevy or beat up jalopy.
I want to get hit by a BMW.
I want the driver to make his tires scream like banshees,
and leave four long streaks of rotten burned rubber on the asphalt.
I want him to step out in business attire, and gasp, inwardly.
I want to flip off the sky, because my aim is bad,
and call him a coward for hitting the brakes.
I want him to think,
"What did I do?
Is he Okay?
What am I going to do?
What if I lose my license?
How will I get to work?
How will I pay for this.
Does my insurance cover
vehicular manslaughter?
I'm not alone right?
I'll get through this.
I'll survive.
I'll just be another statistic.
That's all."

John McCain's mother's husband continued to drive buses for a living after retiring as a bus driver in 1954. Then his wife died and they celebrated their 35th anniversary. After John McCain's mother enjoyed a successful abortion, the aborted baby was born in good health and grew up to be 18 years old in under 19 years. Lyndon Johnson started the Vietnam War and told John McCain to bomb Hanoi orphanages in self-defense a lot.

It's like a blind man leading a poor man
He sees the cliff coming but he doesn't mind
Grateful to have company on the way down
Thinks the cloud they'll fall through will be silver lined

It's like the teenager who just gave birth to a still born accident
It hurts real bad inside
But she's grateful that if she returns all the diapers everybody bought her
She might have enough money to buy a prom dress
Thinks the pain she feels will be silver lined

It's like the boyfriend of the young girl who just gave birth to the still born child
Grabs his cleats out the closet
Grateful he still has time to get a college scholarship
Dumped her over the phone
Said he didn't like the way her ***** *** whined
Thinks adding another drop to the bucket of pain he will never feel is silver lined

It's like a young man who works at a gas station
With dreams so big he'd have to run the world to accomplish them
Grows up, gets marrieds, gets settled, and settles
Knows the only way he'll make the TV is by beating his wife
Grateful that strangers know who he is
Thinks the jail time he's serving is silver lined

It's like the grown man who has everything the boy at the gas station ever wanted
Doesn't want it, wishes he could give it back, but can't
So he buys houses, clothes, and Cadillacs
Grateful to have enough
Thinks the silver lining on his silver Cadi is silver lined

It's like the overwhelmed twenty something year old who puts a lock on her own knife drawer
Too proud to get help
Grateful that she has a boyfriend willing to take the brunt
Of all the problems she can't see past
Thinks the inconvenience of the knife drawer is silver lined

It's like the boyfriend of the overwhelmed twenty something year old
Who takes the brunt of all the problems she can't see past
Grateful he has a key to the knife drawer
Thinks the blood on the floor will be enough
To show her there's more to the world than the problems she can't see past
Thinks his mama's heartache will be silver lined

It's like the staunch republican who got laid off last year
Now he's so broke he's on unemployment, food stamps, and TANF
Grateful the democrats were in control during the great depression
Still voted for John McCain
Thinks the bumper sticker on the back of his car is silver lined

It's like the young family started by a couple kids
Who insisted on having a couple of their own
Now they're too poor to afford but too rich for assistance
Begging their government to bail them out of something that nursery rhymes got them into
Grateful their truck didn't break down again this month
Thinking raising hungry babies is silver lined

It's like a poor man leading a blind man
Who knows the cliff is coming
Knows they're going over and doesn't really mind
Grateful to finally be in the company of someone just as blind as he is
Thinking the cloud they'll fall through is silver lined.

They won’t even explain
That comment about John McCain
Nor will they refrain
From causing him pain
Be that as it may
To this very day
They refuse to say - who
Or make ‘em pay

His vote doesn’t matter
Was their chitter chatter
As they stirred the batter
Before they scattered
And none will own up
To being so abrupt
As to corrupt
That scenario construct

So were they wise
They’d apologize
For speaking demise
Before cutting ties
With the guilty party
Who was such a smarty
As to shame Laurel and Hardy
With that sort of barley

There’s no denying
That John McCain is dying
But there’s no justifying
Them not replying
To our queries of who
Said what they knew
Would put the *****
To one of their crew

During the first six months of 1967, while McCain was part of an attack squadron of A-4 Skyhawks on the carrier Oriskany in the South China Sea, North Vietnamese officials said some 167 schools were bombed, along with 230 churches, three seminaries, and 23 pagodas. In late September—just a month before McCain’s crash on his 23rd bombing run—U.S. planes managed to drop four massive container bombs (2,400 pellet bombs apiece) on a grade school in Thanh Hoa province, south of Hanoi. The school had just reopened after the summer recess and, according to Vietnamese reports, the attack killed 33 pupils, ages 8 to 12. Thirty more were wounded, including two teachers. That was a single incident. The American estimate is that the 1965-68 bombing campaign killed between 52,000 and 182,000 civilians; the Vietnamese claim the figure was several times higher.
The weather outside is "Colder Than My Heart, If You Can Imagine" (A Day To Remember)
but that won't stop me from "Bleeding Out" (Imagine Dragons)
and you know I won't be "Happy" (Pharrell Williams)
as I am "Without You Again" (Sam Shaber)
I would never try to force you to "Stay" (Mayday Parade)
don't try to tell me I need "Therapy" (All Time Low)
until you hear "Both Sides Of The Story" (We Are The In Crowd)
you've always told me to be "Brave" (Sara Bareilles)
but now I'm afraid of the "Demons" (Imagine Dragons)
I'm sure we can "Let It Go" (Demi Lovato)
after all we're just "Human" (Christina Perri)
as long as you know "I'll Be"  (Edwin McCain)
more than "Weightless" (All Time Low)
up here like a "Satellite" (Rise Against)
but now you're back so let's "Begin Again" (Taylor Swift)
and "Step" (Vampire Weekend)
to our "First Dance" (Nevershoutnever!)
before we sit together under the "Starlight" (Taylor Swift)
until we're "Out of Time" (A Day To Remember)

In the year two-thousand and eight
While running for president
Senator John McCain stated
That we need more nuclear energy,
He stated that nuclear energy,
is safe and friendly to the enviroment.
Nuclear energy, he said is clean
because it doesn't pollute the air.
He said that nuclear energy is the
Wave of the future.

Yesterday, One Twenty-nine Ten.  I
read in the newspaper that the state
of Vermont was going to vote on
closing down its nuclear energy plant.
It seems that ever since it began
leaking Tritium (a highly toxic by-product
of nuclear energy) into its drinking
water they've determined a link to
the sudden high rate of cancer.

Tritium has also been found in water
supplies near nuclear plants in
Illinois and New York.  But, those
states have chosen not to react.
I think we should wave goodbye to
nuclear plants before everyone will
have to wave goodbye to their future

wrote a song about it

CLEAN TRITIUM

Hey Mr. Senator!
Give us a glass of that
Clean, clean tritium

Cancer's great stuff
We need more of that
Give us clean, clean tritium

Hey all New Yorkers
Illinois and Vermont
Drink up!  Clean, clean tritium

No, we can't breathe
But, at least we had that
Not, that clean, clean tritium

How about serving
A bottle to Congress
Drink up!  Clean, clean tritium

The House is refusing?
What's all the confusing
It's clean, clean tritium

Mmm it's so tasty
Just like cows from the sixties
Clean, clean tritium

Death is delicious
Who cares what's nutritious
It's clean, clean tritium

Hey Mr. President
You drunk a glass yet?
Clean, clean tritium

Everybody die
It's the only way to fly
It's that clean, clean tritium

He promised us health care
All we have is death here
That clean, clean tritium

Clean Clean Tritium
Clean Clean Tritium
Clean Clean Tritium

"Palestinian boy chucks rock at Israeli soldier.
Sixty-seven unarmed civilians killed in self defense,
against these evil terrorists. Prime Minister Netanyahu declares
'These continuos violent aggresive terrorist attacks against
the kind, freedom loving, law abiding people will not be tolerated.
If necessary we will **** countless more, until these monsters cease their terrorist attacks.' Senator Mccain, when asked about what he thinks about the situation said, 'I think Israel has every right to take justifiable military action against the terrorist government of Syria.'
Man on the street wearing a **** all ragheads tshirt says, 'All these heathen moslems are all the same. We don't need any reason to **** them, other than the fact that they hate us, and want us and Israel to be wiped off the map. These sandn*#@ers, are all irrational, racist, anti-semite, violent, camel ****** savages. I hate them, and if it wasn't for my extreme cowardice, I'd go over there and wipe them off the map myself.'  This is the thousandth case of Hamas terrorist aggression in the last year, and many experts believe that war against Iran will be necessary to stop the violence. Coming up after the commercial
'Are Prince Harry and Emma Watson seriously dating!?'

Drove 75 miles each way
To see Colbie Callait,
Somewhere in Connecticut,

That was back
In 2009,
Maybe 2010,
Maybe 2011.

Enjoyed it immensely,

Other than
The only thing
Older than me
At the concert
Was the building
It was held in.

And everybody at work made fun of me.

Took my woman
Downtown to the
High Line Ballroom
A few years back,
Edwin McCain,
He sang
I'll Be.

It was fine,
Other than
I was the tallest person
Standing on line.

Last year
Danced on a conga line
Led by Pink Martini,
At Carnegie Hall.
Ain't embarrassed to admit,
They dragged me from my front row seat,
Kicking n' screaming,
Hope nobody was videotaping!

At the Beacon on Broadway,
Saw Paul Simon and
Straight No Chaser,
And I would do it again in a
A Capella second.

This year,
High up at Lincoln Center,
Overlooking Central Park and
My city sparkling,
Saw Ingrid Michaelson singing,
It's OK.

She was giggling,
Cause it was so fun, for her,
To act so grown up.
Her parents and sisters
Even came to see her.

Sometime ago saw Marc Cohn, singing,
Don't remember when, don't recall,
Walking in Memphis,
Even tho both of us were at
City Center on West Forty Third Street.

At the City Winery,
In NoHo
Don Felder did Hotel California,
Went to the backstage partee
Cause I was around when
he first penned it,
When he was still part of the Eagles.

For an old geezer,
Born in 1901,
I'm pretty cool,
Despite the occasional mistake.

But I know better than to go to see
Justin Bieber,
Way too cool for that,
So those ticket to
Taylor Swift,
Ripped,
Having never seen
the light of day,
I think I even pretended to
Throw them away...
All true, especially the embarrassing parts.  Nooooooo I did not go see Bieber....really!

Each day we’d tell ourselves, it can’t get any worse.
But we’d wake up to the next bombshell from the Donald Trump curse.
His rhetoric and false promises stirred something in millions.
He was going to “drain the swamp” be the man of the people to his minions.
He brought out the worst of us, appealed to their deepest fears
Convinced them they could stop hiding, gave them a voice for four years.
He treated our country as the setting for his next reality show.
Each day a new episode, with fake news and Democrats the greatest foe.
He’d tweet unintelligible nonsense in the middle of the night,
Encouraging racists to come out from under their rocks and be ready for a fight.
Four years of bigotry, vitriol, and insulting nicknames,
crimes, pardons, and everyone else always to blame.
He bullied and intimidated, to keep his allies securely in his pocket.
And if you veered off his path, he’d add you to his docket.
These spineless Republicans who went along with this charade,
They were the most pathetic, doing his bidding as they were played.
The Trumper fanatics seem to have short term memory loss.
“Mexico will pay for the wall!” he said.
Now they’re paying for its cost.
Putting children in cages, separating them from their parents at the border.
300 children still missing, reuniting families, a useless order.
There were “good people on both sides” when white supremacists came to ****.
“Stand down and stand by”, he told the Proud Boys when asked to rebuke their will.
Each day we listened, watched, and read things we just couldn’t believe.
No one thanked him for McCain’s funeral, he told “the squad” to go back to where they came from and leave.
He insulted the city of Baltimore and labeled poorer countries as “**** holes”.
He alienated us from allies, and continuously used erroneous numbers in the polls.
The problem is, this is REALITY, not a show, and people’s lives were in his little hands.
He has no concept of consequence, having everything handed to him from his dad.
The list of his transgressions is long, but there’s one that will follow him to hell.
He knew how dangerous Covid 19 was, and decided not to tell.
He said it was not a big deal, not to worry, that they were prepared.
Looks like by April, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away,” he declared.
This is the flu, it’s just a flu. Don’t wear a mask, everything’s fine, was his call.
We’re doing a “tremendous job” he said, he’s not concerned at all.
Well now we see the result of his inaction and he said he takes no responsibility.
Thousands are dead and dying, NO LEADERSHIP was the key.
A sigh of relief when he wasn’t reelected, but he refuses to concede.
The election was rigged, the Democrats cheated, although there was no evidence to see.
His “alternative facts” were denied by the courts time and time again.
So what does he do, he turns to the underbelly, his faithful, deplorable friends.
As a result we saw something on Jan 5th that we’ve NEVER seen before.
These “protesters” stormed the capitol building, bashed in windows and broke down doors.
All the while, they were chanting their mantra to their king.
Replacing the American flag with a Trump flag, destroying everything.
These weren’t protesters, these were terrorists, leaving the chambers a wreck.
No respect for the ceremonies from the Constitution they say they vow to protect.
If that was a mob of black Americans, do you think they would have made it to the front door?
They would have been showered with tear gas, and shot dead, racial injustice to the core.
Trump loved every minute of it, held off the National Guard as pandemonium reeled.
Then he tweeted a loving video telling the thugs they were special and he knows just how they feel.
If there is a bright side to this attack on democracy,
it’s that it clearly exposed the ****** representatives for everyone to see.
It’s been interesting to see his greatest supporters jump like rats from the ship.
The biggest *** kissers in his club now want no association with him.
****** too, had dedicated followers who believed themselves to be good people.
And then they paid the price when the term **** became synonymous with evil.
To me, those who have sided with Trump will always be a mystery.
But one thing I do know is all of their names will go down on
the wrong side of history.
