Lets not exit Brexit
Marilyn Heavens Oct 2018
Twenty third June twenty sixteen
The biggest vote we’d ever seen
Results are in and Brexit win
and many say it’s such a sin
Those who voted not to leave
This news they just could not believe

Sore losers showed their  bitter anguish
soon from Europe we would vanish
Let’s vote again remainers say
'No vote again' says Theresa May

Our country voted in or out
and voted out without a doubt
The apple cart tipped on its head
Britain in Europe would soon be dead
Now Brexit was born the following morn.
This beautiful kingdom from Europe be torn

Remainers are mad while leavers are glad
Great Britain is out there is no doubt
So shut up remainers, accept what is done
We voted together and Brexit won

Let me be me
Marilyn Heavens Oct 2018
Mirrors always show the truth, sometimes they are so mean
it tell me things I hate to know and sometimes things I need to know
but sometimes when I’m feeling great and ready for a date
that mirror tells me don’t be late, your date he may not wait.

But sometimes when my diet fails and all my efforts lost
that mirror tells me 'don’t be sad, just think of all that food you had'
then I think of all that cake, the pies, the fries and juicy steak
that mirror stands in front of me, I sigh at what I see
I see a figure round and free, I see the truth, I see me
so mirror mirror don’t be mean, let me be...let me be me

A soul we think we know
Marilyn Heavens Oct 2018
A silhouette in darkness
strolling through a street.
A lonely man, a lonely soul,
who wonders where he goes?
Heading home no doubt
or maybe he’s a lout.
Walking into mischief,
or just a ticket tout
No one could ever know
what lies within his brain?
Or is he just a guiltless man,
or someone gone insane.
Whatever he may be,
whoever he may be.
His world is just as normal
As he or she or thee.
He walks upon a crowded street
but lonely is his soul.
Passing by without a thought
a world he used to know.
But now that world has changed,
and he is so alone.
He walks beneath a blackness
of shadows from the past.
A past of joyful times,
a past of blissful kinds,
a past of smiles,
a past of tears,
but most of all a past of fears.
This lonely shadow heading home,
Innocent and free.
His work is done, its time for fun.
Gone from shadow into sun.
He walks across a crowded street
with one thing on his mind.
His wife, his strife his daily life
cuts through his soul just like a knife.
Now that's what this mans all about
he is no lout or ticket tout!
He’s just a soul we do not see
Or maybe just an entity

Tsunami
Marilyn Heavens Oct 2018
Tsunami came from nowhere,
Mother nature called aloud
Bringing with it only sin,
Bearing devastating sacrifice
and death to all and kin.
Reality hit home within the first few hours,
As news came through the world soon new
It seemed the earth had cracked in two
Now our world is flawed with devastation
Death, pain, and desolation
We pray for those who died
And feel for those in pain
Our people’s lives were taken when that brutal mother came
This mother came from nowhere upon the highest wave
Bringing in destruction, death and devastation,
Loss, horror, and hopeless apprehension.
These words cannot portray our feeling of dismay
Our minds in fear as we shed a tear
For those whose lost and those who suffer
Awaiting news or searching through the thousands.
Undignified, coming to terms with loss of those who once loved but now no longer.
Mother Nature played her part so viciously,
Leaving just a simple question…why.
Today I pray alone, but I know I am not alone for the entire world will pray with me.

I watched the news today
Marilyn Heavens Oct 2018
I watched the news today,
I watch it every day
and every day It seems the same
painful terror without shame

As Mother nature makes her call
She devastates both one and all
She'll slice her way across the land
As father demon lends a hand
And seas rise up towards the shore
Where land becomes the ocean floor

I watched the news today...

War torn places on their knees,
The innocent no longer free
A starving child, he walks alone
across a stony path he'd roam
Searching for the freedom, a gift that he once knew
His mother dead, his father hurt his brother disappeared
This child alone keeps going, there’s nowhere he can go
He searches everywhere for someone he may know
But no one comes to ease his pain,
His search for freedom, all in vain

I watched the news today...

The starving child who walked alone
He walks alone no more
He’s found amid the war zone
crouched, cold and all alone
He stares into his fathers eyes
where pain and anguish clearly lyes
Hand in hand they walk together
father, brother, and memories of mother,
Along a stony path they roam,
towards the tiny shack called home

My man and me
Marilyn Heavens Oct 2018
I am asked so many times
Do I love this man of mine
My answer is there for all to see
For in my heart I hold a key
But now the years are rolling by,
My oh my how time do fly
I think about it long and hard,
Our life together, so unmarred
I ask myself do I love him still
And answer yes I love him still
But another question hangs in tow
Am I in love?
I answer no....
To be in love is to be obsessed
With *** and lust and a cosy nest
To be in love is for new affairs,
For holding hands and hidden lairs.
No No! I am not in love not now
but once I was and this is how.
My man and me we fell in love
Walking hand in hand together.
Swore our vows and led each other
Let no man put our love asunder

A Mother’s Pride
Marilyn Heavens Oct 2018
When your child’s feeling ill
His body hot, maybe a chill
Hold him in your arms real tight
Love him till you make it right

Our children are our own creation
made from love and procreation
teach them what is right and wrong
and how to sing that special song

When our child is feeling sad
When things all seem so very bad
We wrap our arms around real tight
Don’t be sad my little man,
and tell them all will be alright

When childhood is left behind
Our pride is something undenied
All the years we loved and cared
and all the lovely times we shared

There’s nothing more so precious
than love we cannot hide
There’s nothing more so precious
than that thing called Mothers Pride
