Is it weird?
Pink vison
Eyes sparkle
Wicked smile
I don't just see it
I feel it
A pony of energy
Hot mess mane
Cotten candy stain
Little miss evil
Oh wait that's me
Alter ego
My Pinkie Pie
See something deeper
Down inside
We see you
always there
searching
waiting
lurking
To jump out
Not hide

Asked, questioned
can I love
My Amber

When, what
point I realized
I wanted

How, whence
genetic girl
so accepting be

Who, why
how could I not?
Open-minded

Judge, absolve
Don't cast stones
Everyone lives in glass houses.

We should all be so accepting of each other.

I am Frankenstein's Monster.
Only, I wear a veil.
It hides me from view.
Sometimes it slips,
reveals a glimpse of me.
People see, they run, they cry
...in horror.
I am Frankenstein's Monster.

I am transgender
I am different
Though I often feel looked down on
I am beautiful

I look in the mirror
To see a young boy
Masquerading
Typecasted into roles with
Skin-crawling costume design
Constricting and waist-binding
The seams searing the skin
Molded to meet the suffocating criteria
There is sorrow deep in his eyes
Knowing he has deceived and deluded
And performed this scene for far too long
Acting restlessly in a futile effort to belong
But he was never meant for this role
The blinding stagelights and heavy curtain
Even if he will miss the roses and applause
He wants nothing more than freedom.

Look at me,
Look at my smile that dances in the natural light.

My old name is dead to me.
That's why they call it a deadname.
The person who had that name breathes no more.
She was killed by my own hands.

She was named for both of her grandmothers,
some sort of sentiment to come from a careless mistake.
Maybe this is what made it so easy for me to **** her
because her name was a throw-away.

Her middle name came from the title of a movie
that her parents had once liked.
But the movie is old and bland, and the plot has no meaning.
So her names are futile attempts at trying to right a wrong,
trying to make up for something that can never be fixed.

I killed her.
I wanted her dead so badly,
so I killed her.

My name is Casey.

I am not heartless, though.
She wanted me to be Casey.
Although I killed her, she still means something to me.

I had to **** her in order to move on.
She knew that.
So I am Casey for her.

Casey.

It means spear.
A weapon.

Fitting for a murderer.
Our prompt was to write a response to "My Name" by Sandra Cisneros. I took a slightly different approach and wrote about my deadname.

there are only two genders
trans is not real
are you a boy now?
i would be open to experiment, though
you need to have your brain checked
what are you?

unsolved.
i am unsolved.

an unsolved puzzle,
equation,
mystery,
rubik's cube,
mirage,
the horizon.

everything you can't figure out at first glance,
something you have to squint at to understand.

but i don't need solving,
i don't need understanding,
i don't need to keep explaining.

i am me,
i am unsolved,
and i am happy.

I am summoned into court
The month of September
Being transgender is the trial to be fought
The jury doesn't know how to handle the situation
And nothing is fought

I am summoned months later
The year of 2016
Being transgender is why I'm there
The jury hasn't overcame their pain
And no solution to the chain

Years later I am summoned to court
A stage in my life I couldn't ever see
Being transgender is the reason
The jury has come to an agreement
That it's okay to ease in
There are trials (problems) you are summoned to.
And the jury is the headspace. (Emotions)
the verdict is atlways a lesson to be learned.

Trials reappear when the jury doesn't come to an agreement. And trials will reappear again and again. Until the verdict is learned.

I needed to learn how to fight for myself. Advocate. Never give up.
I needed to release the pain I was dealt. I needed therapy. I needed help alongside advocating for me.
And I was finally able to be my authentic self. To push through the waves of suffocating water and resurface.

Hello my name is Kole
I was confused
I made a friend who loved me for me because he understood
He understood because he was trans
I was gay
But then I met him
I knew something was different inside me
I met him and I understood who I was at last
I was born a girl
I hated my body
I pretended to be a girl
I wore dresses and makeup to please them
But now I have cut my hair
I feel authentically me
I am happier than I have ever been
I have a ways to go but finally I am me!
I am a transgender male and I owe my Discovery and life to my best friend Finn, Thank you.
