the poem i resist digs deeper into my chest like a buried soulmate. it grows blurry and distant until i can’t find the sharpness of it, but i can still taste how it made me feel. the feeling becomes a dull hunger. the distorted memory of a bite. still gnawing, lost, hopeful that i will give in to my undoing and gruesomely reveal the bloodied shadow of a bluff that has been called home. neither of us can sleep. my teeth ache. when the sky turns purple with torment, i end up in the woods, collecting feathers, consumed in the uncaging of a fire that will never catch
we were planted in each other’s lives
for a reason
and ever since, our hearts
have been beating
I want to grow with you,
no matter the season

we are two seeds, independent
destined to grow into beautiful creatures
we are filled with love and harmony,
two plants growing into a romance,
tasting each other carefully.

you are the sun I need,
and I am the rain that waters your seed.
together we will bloom,
as we wear flowers as our costume.

we are two seeds, planted for each other
happiness is what we seek,
we are destined to love,
destined to suceed.

“Wherever you go, there you are.” They warned as I crossed the first three state lines.

Now, I’m here. Far.
Yes. The change is significant
In that I can’t feel your pull quite as hard from this distance.
…Though then, pull you do,
Regardless of miles.

But night falls and the same speckled skylights up brighten the distance the same. Between you and I.

I feel the pull, eye to I.

As our stars dance ‘round the moon
Just a tease, while we close our eyes.
lazos quemados,
promesas rotas,
espaldas apuñaladas,
corazones partíos;

almas ahogadas en añoranza,
rechazando el sacrificio de hacer feliz
mientras lloran los fantasmas de lo que fuimos
aprenderé cegada por el dolor de mi cicatriz
a olvidarme de ti.

you tell me,
'it doesn't matter where you come from'
and for the first time,
i even believe it.

we spend every moment together
you have your responsibilities,
and i stay by your side.

i find a home in you,
i was finally not alone,
gaining a family.

you are taken from me,
i live day by day,
missing you,
it's unfair.

you come back,
'it's you, it's really you'
'yeah, it is'

it's unspoken,
i know what happens next,
i don't wanna accept it,
you can't go,
i wanna be selfish.

i don't wanna say goodbye,

'you guys are the best'

this is goodbye
you are taken from me again,
and i know there's no coming
back this time.

i miss you, forever.

A conjunction of two words,
each separately has its own meaning.

The soul is the immaterial part
of what makes us human.
The  intellectual energy that makes
one immortal.

A mate is one of a kind.
A companion.

So how does one know if you have
truly found your soulmate?
