I am so much more than the color of my skin..

& with it being 2017.
Having seen 25 birthdays.
Marrying the most gorgeous woman whose skin color is different than mine.
& together creating a little girl who has such a mixture in her & is the epitome of everything that is holy.
I'm both ashamed & conscious that even though the world is better..
This better isn't even close to good enough.

0.1 millimeters.
Practically a sheet of paper difference.
We've allowed it to be cause for so much turmoil.
..when in truth, no one has more value than the other.
Because we all love.
We all hurt.
We all want a good life.
& the crazy thing is, it's possible.
But with all the animosity because "their skin isn't like ours."
Good will never fully come.
0.1 millimeters.
Practically a sheet of paper difference.
You take that away.
& I ask you.. what will you judge me on?
My character?
My failures?
My faith?
My drive?
..because I will never be a perfect human being.
But I will always be one who strives to be better.
& though my mistakes can be catastrophic.
My redemption will always be more.

So I have to say it.
For the strangers that **** over the difference.
For the families that show indifference with the spouse, but love the kid without prejudice.
For those I know, who disagree with ones choices in who they love because of that difference, so they make sure to never let anyone else make the same "bad choice" as long as they have a role to play.
& for myself, so that I never become apart of the problem.. so that my daughter can love & feel loved from all those around her.

..I am so much more than the color of my skin.

Paralyzed Authorities
Making no-sense
Here, Am I,
living in the nation of dead
Or,
Am I,
the refugee of the country of birth?

Year by year
I have seen my soil shrinking
No Man’s Land, getting proximity
Loosing Identity, inches by inch.

Curse of voting, venomous Puppet
Instructed to, divide and rule
In a name of by/for/to the people
Later,
“My own People”, they say

Always, here,
I stayed Outcasted
Categorized by,
Tongue,
Color,
Dress, and the
Sacred thread.

I wish to be the Pillar
Unmovable,
Strong,
Hard,
Let me get the fragrance of my soil
And,
Blessing of it.

Mama.

To quote a cliche,
Today is a new day,
Reclaim your imagination,
Stolen by the new generation;
Walk along not listening to Jay-Z,
But the heart beat of your own city:
Start to reclaim, your life,

Embrace the cultures of others,
Forget the pain; we're all brothers,
Enjoy a coffee on your own in a new cafè,
Who knows what that will bring your way,
A new set of friends for new experiences,
Or a new partner; a real change of appearances,
Start to reclaim, your love,

Believe in what you are,
Daydream while gazing upon a star,
Tell a stranger that they are beautiful,
For no other reason than to be thoughtful,
Make someone smile because you can,
Because all those above certainly dont give a ****,
Start to reclaim, your personality,

Enjoy life because theres nothing left to do,
Smile at someone, why does it matter who?
We can forget stereotypes or expectations,
If we all become one as seperate nations;
Something we can all achieve by giving happiness,
By lifes smallest acts of real human kindness,
Help others; reclaim their lives, thoughts and love.

We are who we are

But we are still all human

No matter how vast the world we live in

No matter how near or how far

We are where we are

We are all human

No matter the hue of our skin

We are all human

We are not all men

But we are all human

No matter the nationality or origin

We are all human

No matter how thick or how thin

We are all human

No matter how great our sins

We are all human

No matter faith

Or what we believe in

We are all human

We do not love or hate the same things

But we are all human

No matter how strong the convictions

Nation against nation or between simple citizens

We are all human

No matter the civil

Or social unrest that has risen

We are all human

No matter the wars we wage

No matter the battles we win

No matter the violence that's made

In the end it's humans both sides are burying

Human life lost that both sides are mourning

The weight of human life in the caskets they're carrying

But both sides are still human

One thing we all have in common

Times not our friend

It is and should be our only end

But…

In the news

I only hear about humans ending humans

Why is it that I see violence

Why is it that when I look around

I see humans

But…

Little humanity
"I see humans but no humanity."

Time and I like to race,
And the both of us won’t give in.
We wish to claim first place;
We both deny what’s not a win.

With my eye on the prize,
I try to beat my nemesis.
For it’s time I despise,
It is a thief with arrogance.

And for the longest time,
My rival was in the craved lead.
I now forbid his crime;
I have stolen his spot, indeed.

“How I do this?” you ask.
Well, it is the most simple thing.
Within each day I bask,
And in each small moment, I sing.

I don’t say “Next week I…”
And I don’t mention what has past.
I live for the day, though,
attempting just to make it last.

One day I will have won,
And I will claim my spot: first place.
I am who made time run,
All because I slowed down my pace.
