When we look to the future
let’s remind ourselves that the sun
shines all the time for everyone
and in making dreams
with possibilities
we distill hope
and our faith carries us on
even if like a candles it flickers
we will relight the flame
because we know love is the Holy Spirit’s
name.

You were the fire,
A beautiful, glowing light,
And I was the oxygen.

You said,
You could not function without me,
But all that meant was,
You were using me,
Consuming me,
To glow forever brighter.

Sometimes, I am afraid of falling so totally and completely in love with you.
I know you wouldn't hurt a hair on my head and you wouldn't dare tear apart my feelings.
But I am afraid of loosing you and that fear, alone is far stronger than any magic you can do to ignite this flame inside of me.
This poem was written in 2016.

The flame flickered
It knew it had lived enough
Helpless the lamp stood with the soot

Don't wait around
stuck in this pit
hoping one day
your flame will be relit

It's not going to happen
so get on with your life
because love is painful
and it cuts like a knife

she is filled with fire,
yet she fails to glow
that darkness cries out for a guiding light,
and still the fire shows no mercy
in all it's stubbornness,
it permits the absence of a burning flame
and that roaring glow inside of her,
it dies
and so too does her soul.
is a lost flame, truely a lost soul?
i used to think
we were the perfect match
but matches are meant
to ignite
and then
            burn out.
