Stay tonight,
Stay every night.
Fight what kills me,
when the darkness comes.
Take me to places,
Unknown,
Unseen.

Where just I would be your queen.

Look me in the
eyes, hold my hand,
Take me to neverland.
Where my heart can fly,
Beautifully upon the sky.
The crushing reality
stops in time.

And finally, your love is mine.

My little star,
shinning so bright.
You're my everything,
My only light.

So please... Just stay tonight.

All was quiet
the Lord and Lady retired,
courtiers all gone to bed,
the Great Hall silent.
Hounds slumberingly snored
next to the dying embers
of a cooling Inglenook,
occasional crackles popping
as the heat catches wood resin,
it splatters and dies.
A lute lays idle
amongst the mess of banquet
as a lonely secretive figure
detaches from the shadows,
prowling through the detritus.
Slim fingers pick up the lute
and gently strums a chord,
the Minstrel exits stage left,
to compose and construct
new songs and ribald stories
from this nights celebrations.
Retiring to his chamber
his eyes stare balefully
at an uneaten bowl of stew,
the gruel of his station,
a metaphor for the content
of a nearby journal,
closed but waiting,
for a quill rich in ink
to fill its void
with the musings of a Fool.

my untackled thoughts
quake miniature dramatics ;
cramming for the light
having fits for my attention

through each
I am irresponsibly born
and then hastily killed...
it is a wasteful process

from now on
I shall label them
as they surface
I shall call them Petty Mort
both a joke at their expense
and a simple dismissal

with this manner
I shall practice trimming them
from my chosen daily effort

i'll feel autumn's cool rush
in the park
on a sunday,
with you by my side,
your arm curled 'round
the sleeve of my leather jacket.

and sunlight
will soften
your face;

together we'll walk,
retracing our steps:
it's a dream i chase.

I’m not lonely
But these roads are
Teeming with ants and birds soaring above
I drive on by, past them all and the clouds too

I’m not lonely
But this car is, this heart is
I miss the days when it was the other way around
When I had someone to chauffeur me

I dream of you
Standing in the tall yellow grass
Thumbs up and a cheeky grin
I don’t drive on by

I dream of letting you in
You laugh at the CDs I keep
All by your feet
But you like the music anyway

I ask of you, “Where you headed?”
You just laugh
And my cheeks turn red
But it’s not because of the summer sun

I sing with you
And you love the lyrics
To these old rock and roll songs
But we don’t part ways

I kiss you
Maybe not then
Behind a grimy windshield
But eventually

We don’t part ways
Instead, we keep each other company
In this dinged up white car
On grey-blue lonely roads

But you don’t exist
Not outside my mind
Not outside my heart
Not outside my words

So, I implore you,
That when we meet
I want our story to be
Of a happily ever after
And not a Twilight Zone episode

So,
Mister Hitch Hiker,
Do you reckon I can give you a lift?

A portrait of love
In the realm of fantasy
Our hearts beat in sync
Rainbow paints on a canvas
Only us, in bed, naked

Reality unfocused,
Fantasy lingers in my mind.

I once dreamt of a place where time did not exist,
Where the moon always shone, and the stars always glimmered.
I once dreamt of a watch that did not tell time
A watch that belonged to a good friend of mine.

This friend sat with me, under the sunless sky
And told me of the place where he was from.
He said: “This concept of time you are bound to here
Does not exist for us. It is what we most hate and fear.”

Then he did something rather peculiar.
He took out a small gold circular object
And polished it with his sleeve
And opened it up, and peered into it.

He beckoned at me, “come close,” he murmured.
He turned the object, he turned it, and turned it, and it turned and turned.
“Look up.” He pointed at the sky, “What can you see?”
“I see the stars,” I said, “I see the night.”

“Yes, and for us, it is forever like this.”
I couldn’t imagine a world with no light,
But staring at the momentary darkness around me
Made me appreciate the sun and the birds and the morning glee.

And as I look back on this dream,
I think of the friend, and what he is experiencing.
Day, night, he will never know the difference,
But he will always know, they exist together after visiting me.

The ocean was once filled with crowns.
It will tell you all about it
If you sit still long enough,
But you never do.
You see, it saw those children with their frowns
and their struggle to commit
To a world that treats them rough,
yet rarely rewards virtue.

The waves then went out to distribute
Their gifts among those in need,
So that their innocence may scatter
and be spread.
To this day they break as a tribute,
Go watch them while you bleed.
In a moment you don't matter,
you'll sense a weight upon your head.
