Dare I write a poem, claiming God doesn't exist?
I admit sometimes that faith is missed.
Sometimes I lie awake, ponder the past,
Wonder why my belief didn't last.

Then I remember what I was forced to see,
The memories of abuse that still bleed.
I remember my polluted childhood,
How it bore very little good.

I think of cancer in children, and natural disasters,
Supposedly the plans of a loving master.
I think of ****, ******, and child abuse,
Suicidal kids hanging from nooses.

Science motivates my disbelief to a certain extent,
But other than that, I refuse to be content.
I can't follow a "loving creator" who fails to care,
A "loving creator" who is never there.

People consider me atheist,
But I am agnostic deep inside,
I recognize an unearthly power,
One that works at unearthly hour.

you don't believe in a God
you don't believe in a Greater Good
but the fact that you believe in me
makes me believe in a Greater Entity
oh God, i'll never get over the way you look at me.

I've cried out to God during all my times of need,
And tried opening the door.
But it seems that my qualms he will never heed,
Even as I pray, falling to the floor.

The door is not locked, see,
The door does not exist;
But what does?
The blood flowing through my wrists.

It's time to let him go, to turn the page,
And to let it all evaporate, the unrequited rage.
He does not exist, he is not all around,
He doesn't care if his children are safe and sound.

That's okay, counting on myself is better,
Than using fantasy as a crutch, an old sweater.

I believe in people, I believe in love,
I just don't believe that any comes from above.
Three decades back,
A communist,
As a fad atheist,
To my chagrin
You taught us
"God doesn't exist!"

To my surprise
After mass
I saw you yesterday
Kneeling down
Hands upward
Wholeheartedly when
You Pray.

Out of His mercy
And benevolence
No doubt
God will forgive you
At once,
For what matters
Is your repentance.

But  I can't help to ask
What will be the fate of
Of those credulous children
At their formative years
You sent off the track
Without a mental map
To return back?
Based on a true story.Ethiopia, once, had embraced socialism.Though a highly religious country the so called communists were promoting atheism.Ironically taking lesson the hardest way most of the atheist have become  faithful.

Don't shut your eyes.
Give no volunteer.
They will speak for themselves,
fall over your cheeks,
and mirror your pupils,
as they roll back,
pulling your conscious with them. Hesitating only enough to leave it behind. But consciousness is always best
kept at the border.
If you find you've been left with enough
to remain alert,
by then, you will be dreaming.
A distorted image
of prominent conversations,
or any notions with the significance
of being sufficiently alien.
The narcotic superlative,
naturally expressed.
God's allegory of home,
fully understood,
only by those
who discovered it deeply enough
to make it a reality.
But I had always been a skeptic.

Every night,
I pray to God,
Even though I am an atheist,
To erase my memory
So I don't
Feel the pain, the anguish
That I get whenever I realise
That you could never feel
The same about me.

I was told that god
Is the father for the
Fatherless
Well, he has a lot in
Common with my father
Because, they both
Abandoned me when
I needed them the most
To those who are religious, please don't take this poem as an insult.
