We could never have had it all
That was our greatest downfall
You wanted everything to be right
And I messed us up in time

You said I was a whirlwind of contradiction
Sunny one minute and a downpour the next
You couldn't recognise the chaos behind my eyes
Or understand the trouble that left me tired

You hated my mess and reckless ways
Those times I'd sit completely hazed
You hated not knowing what was on my mind
But I couldn't divulge the dark that I hide

I wanted to be pure for you
And left unscathed from my ways
But even with a burning heart -
I still knew how to be cold from the start

In the end, everything you said was fire
When you couldn't get my mind right
We said some things we both regret
But we can never turn back the time

Lord Byron
When we two parted
In silence and tears,
Half broken-hearted,
To sever for years,
Pale grew thy cheek and cold,
Colder thy kiss;
Truly that hour foretold
Sorrow to this.

The dew of the morning
Sank chill on my brow—
It felt like the warning
Of what I feel now.
Thy vows are all broken,
And light is thy fame:
I hear thy name spoken,
And share in its shame.

They name thee before me,
A knell to mine ear;
A shudder comes o’er me—
Why wert thou so dear?
They know not I knew thee,
Who knew thee too well:—
Long, long shall I rue thee
Too deeply to tell.

In secret we met—
In silence I grieve
That thy heart could forget,
Thy spirit deceive.
If I should meet thee
After long years,
How should I greet thee?—
With silence and tears.

The lake where we sat
Dark blue
Old creek
The taste of second chance
Lingering
Teasing me
The smell of cut grass
Cheap wine in our glass
Wet face from heartache
We reminisce the distant memories
Stories unfold
Truths untold
The taste doesn't taste the same again
We try to right the wrongs
Holding on too tight for too long
But summers end is near
So we kiss away our fears
And then let go

Wandering amongst the city lights
The colds creeping in on this hungry night
Ive succumb to the moon and its leading me afar
I'm racing away from my doom

I hear your voice and I'm distracted
Look now how I've reacted
These shaking limbs I can't ignore
Once again I'm knocking at histories door

My steps falter as you're leading me from safety
Everything's starting to feel kind of hazy
This ship was only ever made to sink
The towers we built are now caving in

The pace is chasing my hearts racing
You feel it too and you've decided to move
You're stalking your prey, everyone is staring back at me
I feel a storm bubbling up from the sea

It feels so good but I'm cold
Shivers race down my spine tenfold
I shudder you shake
Together we break
Then build and bend again and again

I stand under street lights
Barefoot at midnight
Emotions deplete
I feel incomplete
Holes in my soul
From truths untold
Burning desire for something
Aching
Breaking
The floor is cold
These shaking hands you dare to hold
Fever struck I lose a day
Bundled into a whirl of haze
Lost
At what cost
I find my feet
I'm losing sleep
Time escapes
My mind awakes
I'm gone again

My mind is aligned with the stars in the sky
You watch as I burn through the night hella high
Dangling in the spectrum of wrong and right
I chase the moons illuminate white light
Should I stay or should I go
In your arms will you forever hold
Me
Breathe
Release
Repeat
I fumble through forests from night 'till day
Wondering when I'll see your face again
When you think of us
Do you think of pain
When you think of love
Do you see my name
Is your memory tainted
Painted black and white in your mind
We've tried and we've tried
But it's getting harder to survive
We can let it all go
Watch it melt away like snow
And years from now we'll still feel the sting
Of what was always the greatest thing.
