Smudged Ink May 2014
i have a wall around my heart
it closes off outsiders and protects me
but it also hurts me
shutting me out from people
when the wall starts to crumble
i quickly put it back together
glancing around to see if anyone noticed
it gets lonely here in my fortress
i wonder if the outside is better...
i guess i will never know

In between the lines
That is where you should read
Because it is in those spare spaces
Where you create your own meaning

being alone is one thing
feeling alone is misery
being in a room full of people
and still not belonging
i have to wonder
does anyone notice?
how i am there but at the same time not
do they see how i feel ignored
how i walk away feeling like there's no point
just when i thought i could be normal
i am reminded i'm that i'm not

appearances are everything
we are always told about inward beauty
but people will see what they want to see
we are judged on how we look
not on who we are
we are in a masquerade ball
where everyone is not who they appear to be
never really knowing who somebody is
i guess we will never know who they are
if we can't look past how they look

everyone's a little broken
we are are in pieces
waiting to fall apart
we are like glass
seemingly strong enough
but easily shattered
whether or not we are fixed
it is up in the air
to put ourselves back together
one piece at a time

Are you out there?
That perfect someone.
Taller than 5 feet
With your disheveled hair
And your imperfect good looks.
I don't mean you pretty boys
I want the beautiful ones
With all the flaws.
Inside and Out.
I love your flaws
Will you love mine?
Do you feel pain
do you embrace it
and let it wrap around you with familiarity?
Are you open or listen to good music?
An avid country music hater.
You are out there
Perfectly Imperfect Boy.
Where are you?
Because I have yet to find you.
So you can kiss me unexpectantly
and make me laugh.
So you can break my walls
Piece by piece
Till I am nothing left but myself.
Come rescue me
On your black horse
In anyway you desire.
