Sunday morning,
the air froze, the dahlias
once bloomed angry,
now they shiver and sigh.

Autumn breeze, faint but still,
the padded ghost-steps
of your laugh, running wild,
like vintage photographs;
scattered Polaroids of
my memory - a smile here,
a grimace there.

How the heat of
emotions buries itself
in the clothes of yesterday,
How difficult it is to
fetch from the seams.
The needles only *****
at a faint feeling.

I wonder; do you forget me
as winter forgets the living?

Because once an old man
told me I had sad eyes

Sunsets melt to chalky lines,
like cigarette stubs, they died
when you met her.

These days only my fingers
remember summer,
I touch the hearts of others
to warm them too.

My voice wind chimes,
the eulogy of the storm,
when I breath your
name I shudder...

And listen-
because I am in
the echoes
of her, of us.

I dreamed
there was a evil man
searching for wealth
beyond all riches
hidden in the hardened
sculpture of a woman
there was a hero too
I could not see his face
he journeyed to a sacred cave
to guard the precious treasure

he climbed inside
the statue's hollow center
and held the treasure to his chest
where it radiated
with such intensity
he had to close his eyes
it gently pulsed in his hands
calming the anxiousness
leaching sour
in his throat

the villain
shrouded black
entered the cave
a belligerent pirate
yelling obscenities
where are you *****?
when I find you, you'll be sorry
you think you can hide from me?
no one will ever love you
the way that I do

his craven hunger upon seeing
the lost prize glowing heavenly
beneath sapphire stalactites
left this dreamer cold
he began to tear
at the sculpture's *******
with hands encased in forged steel
spiked fingernails slicing
until shimmering gold bloomed
in the statue's chest

zealously the villain tore deeper
molten yellow dripped
from his over-eager fingers
when suddenly from the center
came a flash of scorching fire
the villain dissolved to ash
without a single sound
the hero too transformed
into a luminous bird
not unlike a phoenix

he shook fresh wings
flexed honed talons
raised his crested head
and from hooked beak
there came a sound
like a choir of voices singing
the hero flapped three times
and soared out of the cavern
into the bluest sky
I'd ever seen

Lost
Tears

Lost
Here I sit,
crying.
Here I sit,
dying.
Falling apart,
quietly.
I'm not the only one.
But because fresh cuts don't don my skin,
I'm ignored.
As if my pain is any less,
at least she has someone.
Me?
I'm all
alone.
Sitting here surrounded by people,
I'm alone.
No one cares.
I'm not cared for.
I'm not okay.
But they ignore the tears,
drip
drip
dripping

down
my
cheeks.
Tiny splashes
unto
my keyboard.
Pain
so clear,
if
they
would
just
notice
acknowledge
care
hug
praise
adore
pay attention
love
support.

*If only they'd just,

NOTICE.
I wish I had the courage to take that blade to my skin again.
Up, down, round and round
To and fro
Back and forth
Dance with me
this dance of ambiguity
I say this
You say that
I do this
And you do that
Sometimes on the same page meet
But most of it
Ambiguity
You reach to touch
I hold still
I lean in close
You back step twirl
I lean away
You lean close
Like two teens
Discovering love
Morning comes and goodbyes said
Till next time
We're in the others head
Awkward stance
Both you and I
We finally touch
It's not goodbye
One day soon
We'll be in tune
Until that day
*Ambiguity shall stay
One day soon...

I often play Checkers
With Fats Domino
In a downtown park
Underneath the lamps glow

When he wins a game
Sings out Ain't That A Shame
Where I'm less than thrilled
On Blueberry hill

Then it's off to Dominos
During the day
With Chubby Checkers
A game he loves to play

Twists and he shouts
When he turns over the tiles
Making up his own rules
I'm not sure that's aloud

You would think with their names
They'd play different games don't you know
But who can understand those
That Rock & Roll
For some reason I thought this would be a funny idea... Lol!

The little boy who wasn’t there
Has playground dust all in his hair
Some other kids are gathered around
When he tries to rise, they knock him down.

The little boy who wasn’t there
Has no defenders anywhere
He doesn’t cry out, doesn’t speak
He knows the others think him weak.

The little boy who wasn’t there
Acted sad but nobody cared.
School blamed both boys in a fight
Did not find out who was right.

The little boy walks home alone
But nowhere is a safety zone.
They catch him just a block away
They call him ***, they call him gay.

The little boy can’t tell his Ma.
She’ll beat him and then tell his Pa.
They’ll both look at him like a freak.
Two more times he mustn’t speak.

The little boy goes to his room
And listens to the voice of doom.
Depression has become his friend.
He only wants this all to end.

Like the sun that brightens the day
You light up my life in every way
Like the moon that glows in the sky
You give me your heart without asking why
Like the stars suspended above
Your precious eyes shine with love
You are my world
My day
My night
You'll always be
My source of light
I pledge myself
To you hereof
My boy
My son
My one
