Grey clouds surround me,
Thick to inhale,
Impossible to recognize shapes through

And then I feel it
All at once,
As if something deep from within tugs on every fiber of my being

I spin to face a shape assembling through the fog,
Slowly advancing,
Reaching out a hand that beckons my soul forward

Then I wake,
Pulled out of the dream,
Left wondering if it is possible to love a face that has never truly been seen?

Sunrises are God’s finger paintings,
A new masterpiece everyday,
That make even the birds smile.
LexiSully Jun 2018
Sometimes I wonder
If clouds cover up sunrises on purpose,
Jealous of the way they shine,
Or if they just long to be part of the masterpiece.

You can feel it, can’t you?
In the shiver of your spine
The tingling of your toes
The goosebumps forming on your arms

The time is now
Close your eyes, breathe, and
Jump.

He gently raised his hand, placing it ever so softly on her cheek,
And stopped for a moment—
He could foresee his future changing, felt in his bones his destiny altered,

And then he kissed her.

Don’t be a ray of sunshine,
Bringing only a glimmer of hope, joy, and light into the life of another

Be the whole freaking sun.

The small room was dark, except for one lamp in the corner,
Faded memories of loved ones decorate the walls,
Soft music swayed in the background,
And familiar cuddles filled the bed

Time—in this moment—seemed to completely stop.

We adventured to places where my soul was free and my converse got *****.

And when the waves hit, she tightened her sails
She wasn’t going down without a fight
The storm had come, and she stared boldly into its eye
She was the force to be reckoned with.

My mind frequently wonders
If birds pause in flight
To receive the fluffy hug of a cloud.

The sky painted itself with pastel hues,
Oranges and yellows, with very few blues,
It was a welcoming start, I knew,
For it was peaceful and still half asleep;
Yet it set my soul aleap.

It is alright to go to sleep upset,
For every morning the sky bleeds of fire,
And you are born again.

The distant lights across the water attempted to illuminate the shadow waves, swaying in beat with the cool breeze

The stars above shone in the darkness, their brightness unaffected by the misty clouds

The dock was slippery under my feet and damp under my fingertips as they glided along the railing

Our laughter mixed with the frog’s croaks to make music never before heard

And as I looked over, finding her next to me, my heart felt at home.

Darkness floods the outside world,
Obscuring trees into uncertain shadows,
Allowing distant lights to grow or diminish depending on the distance in between

But the signaling of the train horn draws me back into the lit carrier,
My reflection and that of the cab slowly appear into view on the window
And I am back in my body

In the reality that clutches me.

Star light
Star bright
Sky full of stars I see tonight

I wish I may
I wish I might
Keep this feeling I feel tonight

Moon light
Moon bright
Silent silver moon I see tonight

I wish I may
I wish I might
Lock this sight inside tonight

That restless feeling
In the pit of your stomach
When it has been three hours since you've seen someone

And you already miss them.

My vagabond heart skipped with every step taken,
As if the wind whipping around the trees whispered, “Go find your ‘Great Perhaps.’”

I have a pit bull exterior but is that all you see?
Most people who walk by stop, stare, and then flee
But I know I am different, like you want me to be,
For I have a loving and tender heart inside of me.

Perched quietly in the shadows of the night,
Observing completely, using all her might,
Untouched the landscape sat; she breathed a sigh,
She leapt and began to fly

She soared through the trees, dark and murky,
Weaving in and out, the ride a little jerky,
Until she reached the clearing, blooming and sprouting,
Where she landed and began scouting

She spotted a baby, small and alone,
Hungry and confused, wanting to be shown,
Flying over to the area in which it sat,
She pulled some wisdom from her hat

Unmoving and silent, she sat as an example,
Showing her apprentice just a little sample,
Teaching patience and perseverance was first on the list,
She didn’t quit until it got the gist

Next thing she knew, her student was growing,
In no time, it was the one doing all the showing,
She took a step back, gazing proudly at her work,
While the child continued doing all the groundwork

Rays peaked out across the horizon in all hues,
Most of which consisted of reds and blues,
She looked at the child, beckoning it to fly on home,
Although she longed to stay and roam

As the sun rose, slow and bright,
She decided to turn and take off in flight,
Twisting and turning through trees and brush,
She flew on quickly, as if in a rush

She spotted it then, modest and small,
The place she longed to go most of all,
Adventures are fun and she liked to roam,
But there’s definitely no place quite like home.

We're galaxies, long and carefree,
Spanning as far as the eye can see,
Connected by millions of twinkling stars,
Separated by nothing, except for maybe Mars

You and me?

We're rivers, running free,
Carrying only the feeling of glee,
Ranging across miles of verdant land,
Only to converge, as if with a smile and friendly hand

You and me?

We're humans, as He made us to be,
Longing to explore the sky, or maybe the sea,
Offering a kind word or a sweet embrace,
So we can travel through life with a kind face.
