I'll See Ya Later
TigerEyes Mar 2015
I got some drama /Yeah-uh/with some haters
All I can say is I'll have to see you later
Cause I've got my own thing
Yeah, I've got my bling bling
n' now I know you're all just hate'n on my ching-ching
cause I'm so happy designing clothes
Yeah-uhh, you so want a pair of those

n' I'm so happy to be alive/yeah uhh/I'm groove'n with a smile
creating jewelry and, my line of clothes
you're so drooling over those
Oh, yeah-uh/you know ya wanna own it
Yeah/I'm so happy to be a girl who's on her game
I'm make'n bling with my own name
And it's not like I'm all that
uh, hell no/I ain't no kinda stuck up brat
I keep it real/Yeah-Uh-- I keep it low
I keep it classy like a cat-eyed 90210
I pass some girls /Yeah--uh, out on the street
n' when they give me that nasty bitchface look
you know the one with shark fish hooks
it's the one up n' down/then so slyly to the ground
Yeah-uh, you flash up from my face/and, then so slyly to my feet
while I pass them on the street
they check my ***
Yeah-uh --
the bitchface pass
I got some drama /Yeah-uh/with some haters
All I can say is I'll have to see ya later
Cause I've got my own thing
Yeah, I've got my bling bling
n' I'm so happy to be groove'n to my own thing
So sing it now/Yeah-uh/come join me now
If you can afford this kinda look/you're gonna love the second looks
Cause you gotta swing it like you own it/yeah-uhh you got to get down low n' own it/Yeah-uh/cause girls like us we like to show it/Yeah-uh we love to dress up all couture/n' swagger with allure/
n' when haters pass/as they're checking out my ***/I say...

Meant To Be
TigerEyes Mar 2015
Draw the lines for yourself
especially when you think
it's all gone to hell...

Inside you know you're good
even if you feel misunderstood
and, to all those voices in your head
that keep reminding you of all the mistakes you've made
just draw new lines for yourself instead
keep reminding yourself that you're alive
yeah, you're not dead --
be your best lyric
be your best friend
just keep on creating a new line again --
and, again --

You're the one only one that can define you
so let it go, yeah, let it go --
even if others can't
just listen to that inside voice that knows
it's about perspective, and circumstance
because everyone deserves a second chance

pretend that everything is your first time
just keep drawing those new lines
soon everything will be clear
you've erased all of your old fears
yeah, soon you'll see ---
*you are exactly who you are meant to be.

What Time Is Tomorrow?
TigerEyes Mar 2015
What time is tomorrow for all the lovers that are lost
between the smiles from their past
a love they wished had gone on to last, and last--
Yes, they’re so very lost, and buried deep inside
call it ego, call it pride
They're buried deep inside their sorrows
they've lost all of their tomorrows.
Their yesterday’s are all gone
and, the love they shared is like an old forgotten song
and, the memories that they had —
are now all just faded photographs
where they’re hidden from their eyes
to forget the pain, and all the lies
like a Shakespearian play of his, and hers
with the other woman/with the other man
both wanting someone to listen, and to understand
lovers that are lost inside tomorrow
just two wounded souls
lost inside their pain/inside their sorrows---
lost inside
where it rains, and rains.

My Cats Pet
TigerEyes Mar 2015
I am my cats pet
I am trained to be the best
fish chef...
I can toss fresh salmon in the air
with a single flip without a care
with one hand in downward dog
in a headstand while on a log
I can entertain as I coo her name
acting goofy with no shame
while her green eyes say, "You're so lame."
The bubble message just above her head?
Oh, Hell- No! Not this again!
I really need something new to read. The books you own
aren't up to speed.

Btw, I've read every issue of Film News
Seriously. If I could sing right now?
"I'd sing the blues!
Okay. Okay. I get it now. You're a vegetarian
you don't eat fish, and you don't eat cow.
Check the labels. Check them twice.
You don't eat face.
You don't eat mice.
I'm so happy to be your pet.
Look how pretty your table's set!

For All The Dreamers
TigerEyes Mar 2015
For all the dreamers who always knew
their whispered dreams can come true
to keep creating from thin air
even when facing complete despair
you toil through long hard days, and nights
never really giving up the need, or fight
for all the joy, and good that's light

You're touching lives inside your whispered dreams
listening for each word like a conscious stream
you wake to write what you've dreamed at night
grasping each shape to form it right
these whispered dreams they keep happening
like a familiar song you must sing.

Adeline In Far Away
TigerEyes Mar 2015
Adeline lives in  Far Away
where magic fairies with dragons float on  rainbows n' candy
all night, n' day
She took a trip down Abby road where giants live with
talking toads
on a weekend out with friends
where Adeline has decided to go again
but this time she won't be calling home
her parents lost her long ago
tripping down Abby road...

*Adeline is only twelve years old

When
TigerEyes Mar 2015
When is a word that can mean
so many things
When will you love me?
When will I see?
It's all about the love
that's inside of me?
When will I be happy?
When will I be glad?
When will I appreciate the moments
that I've ever had?
When is always waiting
what comes next.
When is anticipating
the next breathe.

That Which I Cannot Do
TigerEyes Mar 2015
That which I cannot do
would be
to ever stop
loving you
for all the sweet flowers
in the Spring
your joyful laugh
and, kind heart
mean everything
though you are there
and, I am here
my love for you
remains -- forever near.

Enemy's
TigerEyes Mar 2015
These two men from opposite sides were sworn enemy's
when they met eyes
One was filled with regret for the loss that he had left
with tears like rain as he sat, and wept.
The other man looked him in the face telling him he's a complete disgrace, "Sorry won't bring them back from the dead. I wish it could be you instead!"
Both in the room for the same disease that brought these two men to their knees...
Neither one will let go.
Forgiveness is a word they'll never know.

Dancing Notes
TigerEyes Mar 2015
I see musical notes dancing, and kicking across the stage
as Broadway lights flash upon the written words on each page
with the stoke of a pen I breathe some air
into a character like Fred Astaire
There's no business like show business--
I know

And, fade into the part where the two lovers begin to sing a song --
Yes, as they dance along --
and, they sing like they're in heaven
yes, they're like two blooming flowers in the Spring -- it's true love - the real thing
that boy see's nothing but stars within her twinkling eyes
that make him dance n' sing n' smile --
He tips his hat like that - yes, like this, and - then like that,
step, tap
step,  tap
clackity
clackity
step, clack
tap
tap
Then she spins around like this leaning in to give a kiss
but then she playfully pulls on back
just before laying a little smack
yes, she playfully pulls away --
she wants him to court her a certain way --
tap
step, tap
step
tapity
clackity
step,
tap

Oh, and the boy is confused by all of this
he just wants a little kiss
so he works hard to get it right
Oh, how he wants to hold her tight --
Then
He bows to her like a Princess as it were
Then
She so cutely leans in -
and, you just know it's so all over for this guy named Jim
then the lights begin to fade
as they both sing n' dance across the stage --

and, the love that these two have found
started out with a familiar sound
with the stroke of a pen
I will breathe air into them again.

Your Last Window
TigerEyes Mar 2015
I see the window you're passing through
full of all the hope, and dreams still inside of you
it's just a shadow
it's your last glimmer
of all the dancing candles
in your last window
you remember
the scent of red apples in the Fall
Oh, how you don't regret a thing at all
every pink cherry blossom on a tree
how you loved to watch them blowing by the sea
and, the fresh white linens you hung up in the Spring
as red robins harmonically chirped along, and they would sing
a reflection of all that's past
just like all the love you wish could last
fleeting as it may be
you don't regret the past
you're just happy you had a chance to see
how lovely a place this world could be
in this last window you're passing by
as I squeeze your hand, and say goodbye.

Turn The Light On
TigerEyes Mar 2015
A note to any future guests...
Turn the porch light on before you open the door
you might be surprised if you call for my cat
to see a pink mouse or, a family of rats
or, perhaps a gathering of wild raccoons
mastering great skills, and foraging tricks
they're now eating with my good chopsticks
because out in the country where I live
when it's pitch dark at night
and, the owls n' birds have long taken flight
you'll hear the call of the wild just after midnight
Yes, so when you call Kitty-kitty
when you open the door
don't be surprised if you let in much more
animals wearing white napkins galore
because you forgot to turn on the light
a family of raccoons, a pink mouse, and some rats
a mountain lion, and coyotes
have all walked in with my cat.

The Time That Divides Us
TigerEyes Mar 2015
The time that divides us is the speed of sound
but always, always --
our world keeps turning round, and round
In dreams -- perhaps, we may meet
and, yours  a familiar face of warm memory's -- the one,
I fondly greet
You --
a poet or, painter -- on a Paris street
And Me --
mysterious eyes
the kind that secrets always keep
a wistful smile of feminine wile
cultured, and fair
with fine clothes, and red hair
Time will slow down
and, there will be no divide
with fluttering memory's
that rush inside
I know when I find you
and, you find me
this time, this time --
this time again
our parallel universe's will collide
and, they will transcend
circling forward, and backward
again, and again --
like two cradling swans
loving again.

In My Imagination
TigerEyes Mar 2015
There on the cliffs
I spread my arms
over the sea
I reach for thee...
The room is still
I hear the ticking of the clock
I seek solace
as the ocean crashes against the rocks
These words, these words they're all I have
beckoning me home again, and again
You hold me tight
  while we're in flight
we soar, we soar, to dizzying heights
my white gown flutters
all through the night
Tick, tick, tick
and, there's the hum in the room
inside stars
it's just the sound of my cocoon
Oh, how I never want to leave this place
in my imagination I've found grace.

Go, Go Like Jackie-O
TigerEyes Mar 2015
No, no-- I gotta go
I gotta go like Jackie-O
cause she had style n' she had grace
Yeah, she always finished in first place
I'll spend some time with you in mind
Baby only, if you treat me kind
cause' I've been all there, and I've done all that
I will exit like a bored black cat
cause talk is cheap and --and, now I know
I'm not some blondie in your show
Uhhh-yeah--
now bring it all back
bring it all back ~ bring it ~ bring it
bring it like that...
Oh, n yeah'
I'll be your baby/I'll be your cat
just bring it ~ bring it
bring it like that...
I'll make you sing
as I scratch your back
ha-ha --
cause don't you know, Oh
I'm like a Jackie-O-
Oh n' yeah...
I like it - like it
when you do it like *that...

Conversations with strangers
have opened up my eyes
to all the interesting ways in which
people have lived their lives
like magical characters inside a book
I want to keep turning the pages
to find out the path they took
I have often wondered
as I travel from here to there
how we can connect with strangers
everywhere
Their story might not be yours
perhaps they're here from Singapore
they miss their children/they miss their wife
but still they look you in the eyes, and smile
It's the conversations with strangers
that have left me feeling *inspired

In Honor of Eddie Yooper
TigerEyes Feb 2015
I always felt sorry for poor Eddie Yooper
who was bullied, and teased by mean Tommy Cooper
our school bus would bump up to his road
to a house that looked incredibly shabby n' old
Nine brothers, and sisters --
I think there were even more
they had goats walking in n' out a missing front door
and, little Eddie Yooper couldn't help that he was poor
One day I stood up to mean Tommy Cooper
That's when I yelled,
Knock it off - this has to end!
Eddie Yooper is cool, and he is my friend!
Now we're all grown up, and I'm happy to say
that all through the years --
he is my best friend to this day.

The Color Blue
TigerEyes Feb 2015
I call out your name from another room
but your mind is trapped inside the color blue
I want to pull you out of shattered glass --
from all that haunts you in your past
you are here but you're still there
where bombs, and blood are everywhere --
lost in the color blue while you're
wandering from room to room
you are trapped inside the color blue
I keep searching for an open door
to tell you that you're home from war
you are here but you're still there
trapped inside the color blue
but, I keep searching from room to room
forever, and ever until I've found you.

If
TigerEyes Feb 2015
If
If I could be a color I would be a crimson red
painting hearts with my quill feathers
while dancing playfully around your bed.

If I could be an angel in your dreams
I would float you gently on my cloud
softly rocking you with my wings
so that you know you're safe, and sound.

If I could be a song of love
I would sing it just for you
I would sing it every day --
so that you know I love you too.

Give Me Red Roses
TigerEyes Feb 2015
Give me red roses Monday through Sunday
I don't want any grey
I'll take love over pain because I like it that way
Give me a heart full of chocolates with a bow n' pink tie
not leather n' chains or, some fantasy with lies
Give me Paris in Spring, and I'll dance, and I'll sing --
with you by my side, and your smiling blue eyes
I'll take Central Park walks or, white horse buggy rides
just give me red roses --
and, I will love you for life.

Whatever happened to old fashion romance
when the ladies were ladies with the gents, and they danced?
Letters were written about how they were smitten
scented with roses, and sealed with red wax
the thrill was always when their lover wrote back
when courtship was always a classy affair
and, it didn't involve a whip, and a chair
When sharing popcorn was a big deal
you knew it was love, and it was for real
back in the days when you maybe held hands
so you knew that he loved you, and he was your man
Whatever happened to old fashion romance
when butterfly's happened with just a short glance?
I guess I'm just an old fashion girl who misses the days
when we danced, and we twirled.

Until Now
TigerEyes Feb 2015
Until now ...
I had always looked a minute ahead or, a mile down the road
instead of gazing upon a flower that was blooming, or, had grown
Until now...
I had always waited years, and years for happiness to show
Until now...
I looked for love in your reflection
instead of looking deep inside of me.
*Until now...

Freedom
TigerEyes Feb 2015
Freedom* is like water it shapes anything it will hold
seeking words like faith, and courage
it responds to what it's told.
Freedom rushes danger even in the face of death
willing itself into this form until it finally rests.
Freedom speaks to every color it does not pick, and choose
pouring its shape forever until it rests in you.

The Closest Thing
TigerEyes Feb 2015
The closest thing to love is the light that shines through you
even in your darkest hour --
search inside the heart so it can find you too.
The closest thing to peace is the calm within your soul
even in your darkest hour --
it's the heart that always knows.
The closest thing to joy is the smile I give to you
erasing all your darkest hours --
shining love right back to you.

Outside In

Outside in
inside out/upside in, again
Like a storm in the sky you'll catch a glimps in my grey eyes
when I'm upside down
n' darlin' you always know when I'm in the rain, again
and,  I know you've been here before---
please, darlin, please,  just don't walk out that door
I don't want these storms, anymore
just don't walk out that door
Can't you see that I'm outside in/inside out/upside in, again, today
when you say you don't love me that way --
please, darlin, won't you, won't you, please stay
just give us, give us, one more chance, just one more day

The Beggar
TigerEyes Feb 2015
I caught a glimpse of you across the street
your eyes scorned my torn clothes, and ***** feet

I glanced away quickly on that day
feeling judged, and embarrassed to look this way --

I keep a pen, and paper in my hand to write my stories
I describe what's in my soul and, who I am.
I hope one day someone remembers me
I was once a great fighter in the Baltic Sea
a captain of a great ship called the Marna Dee

Now I beg for warm places to lay my head
I beg for dollars, and for dimes
wishing daily that I'll get fed.

I beg for stories on the street
through all the strangers that I meet
who offer more than scornful eyes
that pay me kind, and cheerful smiles
when they happen to walk on by.

The Final Frontier
TigerEyes Feb 2015
Their home overlooks the East side of Saturn
where the others have built more towers
with all of their money, and all of their power
There's a bridge in the middle that has a tall door
it separates the two classes we've named --
Eastrich and, Westpoor
The skyway jams up as early as four
with cy~chips that are paid incredibly more.

I found a thin paper book with old photographs
it had pictures of animals in zoo's like giraffe's
I saw pictures of ocean's with fish in the sea
there were mountains with forrest's as green as can be.

I wish I had eyes, and a body like the ones that I see
if I could wish for one thing that's the thing I would be
but I was designed with fine metal instead
with mathematics, and physics built into my head
iWork in Westpoor with others like me
if I could be human that's what I would be.

Wings
TigerEyes Feb 2015
I watched an eagle circling high
right into a stormy sky
his graceful wings were spread out far, and wide
and, he used the wind to speed then dive
to feed his family, and survive.
I followed him to his nest where the mother
warmed their young ones with her wings, and chest.
I wondered how simple life could be
if we came together you, and me.
There is nothing we couldn't solve
then perhaps humanity would evolve
by sharing our eagle wings to those in need
just think of all the nations we could feed
we have to start all of this here at home
there are just too many of us that feel alone

spread your love like eagle wings
*and, watch the beautiful peace it brings.

until you can own it, and believe it.

Near is the friend that comforts you when you're sad
or, wipes away your happy tears when you're glad
who never leaves your side
even when you want to run, and hide.

Near is the friend that can look into your eyes
and, will never tell you lies
that uses words you know are wise
telling you everything will be fine
who strengthens your spirit all the time.

There was excitement in the air
as scientists, and scholars
had never dared
to dream of a world where we can go back in time
rewriting our wars line by line
They watched their hero disappear
He waved before saying,
I'll be back in one year
Five hundred years had past on by
everyone had thought
the hero had died

Nothing had changed
the wars became worse
politicians were blamed
nations felt cursed
Behold, one day
a flash appeared up in the sky
Coming in faster than the speed of light
burning so much day turned into night
there was thunderous sound
when the hero struck the ground
scientists, and scholars
looked on with awe
with big eyes
and, open jaws
creak
a hatch opened, and everyone stared
at the hero approaching with glowing white hair
he said,
words
no one could understand
so he showed them with pictures
*waving his hand

Hummingbird
TigerEyes Feb 2015
I watched a hummingbird
hovering, suspended
during flight
wishing
I could be it
for one night
it looked so free
without a care
at the same time
so aware
that life was good
it understood
He flew away
to let me know
he couldn't stay
reminding me
to enjoy my day.

Doors
TigerEyes Jan 2015
There are seven doors floating just above in front of me
It's a dream I have night after night
I rush into stars/I rush into flight/I rush into this dream--
night after night
like chapters unfolding in a book
sometimes I'm afraid
to even look
at what mystery, magic, or darkened road
may be waiting behind each un-opened door
I wish I knew before I opened
one through seven
Cause'...you know
I'm not quite ready for hell, or heaven
I don't want to see what's on the other side
but I know that I cannot hide
from twilight, midnight, sunlight, on a given day
mystery unfolds/come what may
behind a door
dragons, demons, darkness
light
there's a spell that's cast
each night
1, 2, 3, 4, are the numbers on the doors
5, 6, 7, 8
I open the door
then through the gate
suddenly I see the number 8,
wondering what to anticipate.

Phantom Lover
TigerEyes Jan 2015
You're like a phantom lover, yeah, like some kind of ghost
I reach for you but there's nothing there
making me wonder if you ever really loved me
yeah, yeah, if you even cared
as I have undressed my soul in front of you
and, I have laid it bare
leaving me with sweet sadness when you're not there
Yeah, yeah --
You're like the flicker in a candle dancing in the night
you're gone as soon as my bedroom window shows some light
there must be something about me
that brings out your greatest fears
It must be like this/something I've known since our first kiss --
You've wrapped your heart up in stone --
your heart has been frozen in ice for so long
Yeah, you've kept it safe/Yeah, but it's kept you all alone --

You don't know what to do with a girl like me
I keep it real/I speak the truth
I'm not here to tell you how to be
but I need more than this you see..

I hope someday you can set your heart free
that you can be loved the way you want to be
Oh, how I wish/how I wish
Yeah, that you would have let it be me.

I See
TigerEyes Jan 2015
I can see how one tragic event
could push a person
to a ledge
when that person
was already teetering
on the very edge
looking down for quite some time
picking up loose dimes
on the street
trying to scrape together
just enough to eat.

They didn't plan on it being this way
they've just been trying to survive one more day
She is your neighbor down the street
in a small town where power has gone to the local Sherrif's heads
A mother of three
out of work so she steals a loaf of bread
while her kids play in polluted dirt
I see how her story could end
she didn't have any friends

Smile at a neighbor today
you might keep them
off the very edge
of a ledge
the gift of hope
while they're at the very end
of their rope
You might be the one person
that keeps them alive
just by smiling...
and, looking into their eyes
*You just might keep them alive

Walk Away
TigerEyes Jan 2015
You've made it clear that I will never whisper
Dear
And, I will never call out your name
You've made your point, Oh yes, you've made it clear
that pain is all you want to inflict on me
Dear
You've cheated and you've lied
I've seen your stupid truck parked outside
when you've come around n' spied --
I am walking away from this home
that you've forced me to sell on my own
with your bitchface lawyer on your side
n' your puffed up chest filled with pride --
So that you could say that you took me down
I guess that makes you feel like you're a man
because you enjoy inflicting pain when you can
to the woman that once gave you all her love
let me tell you I am going to rise above
I am going to walk away and not look back
I am going to make sure my heart is left intact
So go on an' try to inflict more pain on me...
my back is the only thing you'll ever see
Cause you'll never know where to find me again
and, you'll realize that the pain you've tried to send
will have come to a final end.

Delivered In Red (A Song)
TigerEyes Jan 2015
These enemies that I see are really just all the dark parts of me
darkness, darkness, let me be--
when you gonna realize it's the light I wanna see--
I am gonna **** all my enemies in my sleep
I am gonna drink down their restless souls I've reaped
drink them down drink them down
I'll drink them down into the ground
dry them out dry them out
light the match light the match
light the match and I'll burn you up

(Chorus)
Your blood red darkness drifts up into the sky
with your lies with your lies
with every lie you've ever told me
in my dreams in my dreams
darkness, darkness let me be
when you gonna realize it's the light I wanna see

Yeah, the enemies I see are just all the dark parts of me
so darkness, darkness let me be
I won't let you capture me I won't let you hold me down
I will burn you into the ground
Yeah, I won't let you come around
I am heading toward the light/ yeah I am taking flight
cause I'm tired of your secrets I'm tired of your lies
Yeah, this where we part the our ties
these enemies of mine have made me hide

Yeah, yeah, I am going to set myself free
It's time that you see that you cannot own me--
I am going to save my life
I am going to set myself free--
you can no longer own a part of me---
I am delivering this message in blood red
I chant, I chant, I dance, I dance
Until I put myself in a trance
until I know you're all good n' dead
When you read this message in blood red
you'll be evaporating in my dreams
Yeah, you'll be dead
These enemies that I see
are really just all the dark parts inside of me
I'll be left with something shiny, and new
bright, bright shining white
darkness, darkness, I'm done with you.

It's just another day in this sleepy little town
n' I know you dream about the day
when your ship is gonna finally come around
You’ve got big dreams with a big heart
but you feel like your life will never start
cause right you're down on your knees feeling torn apart
And now is not the time to quit on life
no, no — now is not the time to quit this game called life
You’ve got to believe that you can be anything you
want to be —
Yeah, yeah/Anything you want to be—
Girl, all you have to do is dream
Yeah, yeah/all you have to do is dream
Take all that passion that’s in your heart
n’ go on out n’ make your fresh start
Because nothing is ever out of reach
it’s just the small minds you’ve met that preach
that you were born here so that’s where you’ll die
and no one but you has ever asked them why —-
A girl can only dream of being someone’s wife —
I know you dream of bigger things
in your beautiful young life
Yeah, I know you want to be/you so want to be--
more than somebody's simple wife --
in this sleepy little town --
that you don't like hang'n 'round--
You wanna go where no one knows your name
Yeah, I know you want live where nothing is the same
I've watched you try to smile
with those big tear drops in your eyes —
Yeah, I know when you hear those lies they say
just as you turn n' walk away---
So go on girl n' pack your bags today--
go n' live your life your way—
Yeah, just go on n' fly away—
Go n’ fly away —

About Mrs. Budge
TigerEyes Jan 2015
Has anyone seen Mrs. Budge around today?
My, my, you just never know what she'll say
Everyone knows her by the stories she tells
not to mention her unique smell
a mix of moth *****, and gourmet soup
she built her own chicken coop
raised nine kids on a farm
made all their clothes from her yarn
After that she built a barn
where she kept her honey bee's
to pollenate all her orchard tree's
she put up pears in the fall
after that I heard she got a call
to sell her canned pears in a fancy mall
I hope that I'm like her at 93
they finally found her in an apple tree
laughing upside down on a tire swing
singing joyfully to her honey bee's.

Shortcut Down Marble Street
TigerEyes Jan 2015
I took the short cut down to Marble Street the other day
to remind me of the cafe' where we met in May
We could of written our cute meet for the screen
just like a couple being filmed for a romantic scene...
I was wearing black n' white with my lacy jacquard tights
You were handsome wearing blue with your matching saddle shoes
That's when..
you winked at me above your book, and, then you looked away--
then I took you by surprise n' I smiled right into your eyes
and, then I looked away--
Oh, in a playful way---
That's when...
You swaggered so cooly up to me just as courteous as can be
but I pretended not to hear playing the naughty girl you see...
Yes, I was naughty I was bad cause I wanted you to chase after me ---
That's when...
I got up with my book tossing you that flirtatious look
that's when I knew I had you by the hook
because I watched the way you shook
then I reached out for your hand
I said,
I'm a woman that knows what she wants n' I won't tease n' I won't taunt
That's when you said,
I'm a man who understands, and I'll give you all the love I can,
Now we're...
taking the short cut down to Marble Street on this sunny day
and, it's been ten years in the month of May
You know, it's the little things you say
that makes me so happy you looked my way
Baby, there's no one else that brings so much happiness n' peace
you've brought joy into my life
I'm so grateful you're my wife...

That's when...
I melt right into you...

Around The Corner
TigerEyes Jan 2015
Just around the corner...
there's a little place called Orange Grove where Alice likes Paul
in room 203, but Paul likes Edna who's 83
n' like little children they bicker n' fight
on Tuesdays when it's poker night
they're no different than younger folks
they still love to smile n' tell good jokes...
it's like they've been put away to die/and, there's so much sadness in their eyes..
when they're sitting all alone, and no one calls them on the phone
They still try to keep their hearts alive ---
sometimes their grandkids come to visit or, stay
but they're on Facebook the whole entire day
they struggle for words n' what to say
A quick goodbye as they wave
Grandma/Grandpa
I don't know when I'll be back this way--

Just around the corner...
there's a little place called Orange Grove
where Joan loves Blake but she's afraid he's on the take
and, he'll break her heart again
like her first husband who's name was Ben
Blake wants to play the field
he's got his eye on a third base deal
he likes Joan cause she cooks his meals ...
but he has the hots for Sally Ford
who lives in apartment 204...

Mrs. Parks used to knit me socks
I could talk to her around the clock...
she was so funny, and so wise
there was such a twinkle in her eyes...

How I miss all those old souls
that I took the time to know...
they used to wander around Orange Grove
while trying to keep their hearts alive
they'd smile with sadness in their eyes
every time I said "Goodbye".

New Year Man
TigerEyes Jan 2015
He whispers in my ear...

What stories will you tell while surviving your bitter cold dark hell
because this year is a carry over from the last
and, darlin' you get to clean up the wreckage from your past ---
It's really hard to be you right now

He whispers in my ear...

I promise to find out how to pull you through a New Year, now---
We'll take one challenge at a time, and darlin,  I'll do anything to ease your mind

Just have a little faith in me n' soon I'll help you through you'll see I'm true /that I'll be right here by your side
to calm all the fears you try so hard to hide
hang on for one more day n' I promise to help light up your path some way

Let me be the hero in your New Year's story n' I promise you be won't be sorry--
Just have a little faith in me n' soon you'll see that I am true--
cause' I'm not like the other guys you've had
the ones that tore you down n' made you sad --

Darlin' let me be your New Year man/the one who wants to help, and understand/just reach out  n' take my hand/
cause -- I wanna be your New Year man.

When
TigerEyes Dec 2014
When they say...
your best thinking got you here
run for your life.
90 meetings in 90 days
the goal
to surgically implant all of their meaningless
platitudes into your brain
while the stains left from
sipping crushed grapes are still
wet, and dripping
from your thirsty morally
defective lustful lips
insatiable to the last drop...
run for your life.
The truth may be that
you were trying to quiet
the loud drums inside your mind
that played along
steep and darkened
caverns within your soul
that were carved by sharp knives
making you bleed emotions
so red
you just wanted to calm your passion
that came in storms
flooding you internally
without warning
until it began
sweeping majestically over
snow capped mountains
for a month
touching down briefly
for a week
sometimes less...
picking up speed
dipping down
like a roller coaster
nose first
tormented by gravity
plunging into dark ocean floors
sipping grapes along the way.
When they say...
to abandon your ability to reason
intellectually
dumbing you down so that you
are frightened into questioning
their dogma, and everything
that you know to be true
run for your life.
When any one person
or, group
tells you day after day
you are powerless...
you are defective...
that you must give up
and, surrender
your right
to think for yourself
run for your life.

A Life In Pages
TigerEyes Dec 2014
You don't remember turning the pages
or, landing on the milestones
all the roads, and darkened alleys that you've run,
perhaps walked,
hitch hiked -- or, driven
the pages you've dreamed
or, written
some of the rooms you've entered
were in darkness, and some in light
some of the rooms
you flew into --
while you dreamed at night.
Right now you find yourself
in the middle
between black, and white
much like the grey in life
today,
used to be yesterday
yesterday was last week
last week was last month
last month was last year
now you find yourself
exactly,
here
in the middle
reflecting upon
a life in pages
with many more chapters to write
filling them up
without grey
everyday
embracing
adventure, laughter, and love --
a bright yellow sun shines above
while you sail around the world
writing the rest of your life in pages
with every color of the rainbow.

Open Season
TigerEyes Dec 2014
It's open season as we walk down the street
we were just keeping to ourselves
when cat calls, and whistles came to us
at the age of twelve
and, we looked to our fathers or, brothers to understand
they took us by the hand
saying,
"It's open season on little girls
now you'll have to put away your dolls n' things
go put on mommy's lipstick, and paint your face
here are some tall boots
and -- a black top with silk n' lace"
Those of us that survived
knew that it was a higher education
that would help us thrive
there were always the ones that sold out
and, you can see them on the street
the challenges of open season
just too great for them to meet.

A Broken Cup
TigerEyes Dec 2014
I dropped my daughters favorite cup...
James Dean was laying at my door
his face was shattered on the floor
I was trying to glue the handle back on the cup
before it slipped from my hands
I didn't seem to understand
I've been pushed aside, and over a fence

a light bulb moment happened next
and some things began to make some sense

I have been sentenced
for my so called sins
In "once upon" I had a shot
like the legend in Camelot
not perfect - no, not at all you see
but it was when I felt they may have loved me.
When I used to matter
before they dropped me
and, I shattered
I have fallen into a wall of silence
The cup is just a symbol
a sign, or - symptom
of all the blaming, and shaming
that can happen
in a twisted triangulation
a kind of strangulation --
there's always one broken cup in a family
they're the chosen one
to choke out all the darkness that's taken place
a sacrifice for all the wrongs that your ancestors have done.

it's all been passed down from face to face
generation after generation
my soul finding its way to this great nation
I was chosen long ago
by someone I do not know

I am a broken cup
I am glueing myself together...
it doesn't matter what they say
even though I've been castaway
I've decided that I'm okay
I know inside
that I am good
and, what matters most--
is that I know I'm kind.

July
TigerEyes Dec 2014
Before July...
I had not lost part of myself /I had not been robbed yet
I had not been damaged yet
I was not waking up each morning with tears in my eyes
I had not been cut up/torn up yet
by not just you, and -- you, and you --
but him, and -- him, and him --
On top of the others, in July.
It wasn't until August
then it became - them.
There were four of them that came to my door
I did not have bruises on my body yet
I am trying to paste all the pumpkin colored leaves back onto my trees
I've raked them into golden piles
in my mind I rewind the leaves back onto the branches
it looks like a film moving backwards
I want to rewind my life --
back to July,
before, August --
before the tears.

Desire
TigerEyes Dec 2014
You whispered her name then she rose from the lake
you named her desire when you saw what she'd take
an inferno of fire consuming black holes
atoms/particles/were tossed, and thrown --
she formed every thought she'd ever known
expanding inside a tiny black hole
she exploded rainbows /forming galaxy's in streams
and she expanded the universe just like a dream
when you were lonesome /you called out her name
you wanted, and wanted -- but she never came
forgetting desire is never tame/she's like fire
she only wants one thing
to burn brighter/and brighter/higher and higher
she responds to light from the heavens above
her name is desire
she wants, and wants -- she seeks love.

Cashing In
TigerEyes Dec 2014
It was the last thing you expected but it was the last thing that brought you down
         down
                  down.
It was the last thing you expected but you'd been living on the edge for quite some time n' now you find yourself living on your last
                                                                                                            dime
                                                                                                                 dime
                                                                                                                      dime.
And all your guru's, and your saints they're all just a memory that's barely faint n' now you're living a life that feels so unkind/Yeah, you owe the man that owns your time/working through the day with little food n' little pay/

n' you remember when you were young oh, how you laughed oh, how you sung /you never thought you'd end up this way n' that you would have to pay just to breathe in simple air/Yeah - you were taught that life was fair/
when you see how others steal just to score their next big deal
n' you did everything that was right yeah, you gave it your best fight..

It was the last thing to take you down
                                                                 down
                                                                         down...
Now that you're no longer round they're making a killing off your rings/all your jewelry/books n' things

They've cashed in on everything that you owned/that you ever cherished/they've now sold

They're now the proud owners of all your gold,

What a pity you didn't know before you decided to up n' go.

I Won't (A Song)
TigerEyes Dec 2014
I won't let you use me like the other girl hanging on your arm
Yeah, I saw you last night singing to that other girl with your guitar
the way you gazed into her eyes is just like all the other times
you used me like before like a devil at my door

Yeah, and I know it's my own **** fault when I met you in New York
I was taken by your charm but it's the weapon you use to harm
I've seen the damage that you've done n' I just won't be another one
who's been used just like a rag/then your small ego has to brag
you're just a devil that's been at my door n' I don't know you anymore

(hook)
Devil at my door /don't ever come 'round me no more
cause I'll take you down, down, down
if you ever come 'round 'round 'round
I won't be the other girl hanging on your arm
n' all your devil charms don't work no more
I see the devil in all your lies
when I look into your devil eyes

Work in progress/I normally don't like using double negatives like "no more" but this is meant to be sung really LOUD with a guitar riff ...Janis Joplin style. ; )
