Anna Jones
The pile of boxes
Lay at the end of the bed
She stands
Researching
Rehearsing
Each line he said

Her horizons
Endless, nameless
A story starting with her sun

She acted all day
Perfecting the play
Of forgotten summers

At night, her mind in transit
Musical interlude
Records spin on repeat
Arms stretching
Around every boy she meets

Staring
She looks at them now
Vinyl sleeves worn thin
Each song tells a story
Needle scratches
beneath her skin

She'll never forget his face
Feelings transcend time
But still the rock
keeps turning
Burning, forever

Telling tales of youth gone by
Eternally lost
In the orbit
of her mind's eye.

On Bosworth field the die was cast
As banners flapped and arrows flew
The King of England breathed his last
A new one crowned before the day was through

Spewing lead the canons roared
Armour glinting in the light
When Henry's banner Richard saw
He led his men into the fight

The standard bearer he cut down
Then ten feet from his foe it's said
His horse got mired in boggy ground
So failed the charge that he had led

As Henry's men surrounded him
Richard stood his ground and said
I shall not flee, I'll die a King
England's crown upon my head

For the House of York the cause had failed
His skull was smashed, the deed was done
The House of Lancaster prevailed
On Bosworth field the war was lost and won
The battle of Bosworth Field, 1485, was the decisive battle ending the English Civil War, known as the War of the Roses, fought between the houses of Lancaster and York. It was the end of Richard III's reign, the last of the Plantagenets, and the beginning of the Tudor period with Henry VII.

Richard's body was slung over a horse and taken to Leicester where it was put on public display before being buried in an unmarked grave. Only recently in 2012 was the body re-discovered, under a large letter R written on the ground, under a car park. His remains have been re-interred in Leicester cathedral.

-An extract from the poem Bosworth Fielde-
The form and content indicate that it was written within living memory of the battle, probably by an eye-witness;

“Heere is thy horsse att thy hand readye;
another day thou may thy worshipp win,
& ffor to raigne with royaltye,
to weare the crowne, and be our King.”

he said, “giue me my battell axe to my hand,
sett the crowne of England on my head soe hye!
ffor by him that shope both sea and Land,
King of England this day I will dye!

As I looked up at the roof over my head
Silent tears welled up in my eyes
Thinking of those without homes, seeking for shelter
Those whose cities were hit by a natural disaster

As I filled my stomach with food everyday
Silent tears welled up in my eyes
Thinking of those in poverty-stricken countries
Starving, fighting the hardship for centuries

As I cuddled my little one to sleep
Silent tears welled up in my eyes
Thinking of those who lost their loved ones
Due to fatal diseases or firing guns

As I lay on my bed every night
Silent tears welled up in my eyes
Remembering all the things I should be thankful for
Especially for still being able to breathe
*And so much more...

I pour myself into
your glass each night,
a toxic taste, I beg
for you to choke on.

You drain our bottle
dry, drinking desert
laps but still thirsting
for Pacific oceans.

Delving into firework
taste-buds, savouring
how we spill so easily in
nights drunken palms.

Telling me I'm cheap
stuff, liquid eyes that
keep you sober, but are
still a tempting sip.

It was the new way to say goodbye
Simply text

Dear John
It’s over
Don’t cry
Must fly
Time to start anew

And if it doesn’t work out
We know just what to do

Dear Jane
Been thinking about this for a while
It’s your style
Just not for me
Want to start something new
Be seeing you

What the hell
No style
Dear John
Have you gone mad
Are you on the moon
Been thinking for a while
I've got no style

Dear Jane
It’s not all about you
Look at the bigger picture
We can see other people
Now that we’re through

Dear John
I can’t get my head round this
We’ll have to meet up
I’m all in a tiz

Dear Jane
Only if you insist.

I am sorry for your pain
but I am not the cause
and seeing how you've treated me
I think I know what was

Dishonest in your ranting
as you're girlfriend and not wife
no wonder why he shies away
from unrelenting strife

Accusing without evidence
eschewing private mail
you castigate me publicly
as illogically you rail

Behaving with much cruelty
demonstrating zero class
you couldn't solve a mystery
if it bit you in the ***.

Oh joy - my first troll.
Congratulations on being the first person on this site I've blocked.
On the other hand, you inspired me to write a new poem, so there's a reason for everything.  I hope you learn from this ridiculous episode, but I'm not holding my breath.

The plan was perfectly drawn
      nobody doubted it was flawed,
but every day and night added
     particular effects on the sketch,
each changing season had a whim
that made a clear impact on it.

Even the most perfectly laid plans
need to be approved by spirits
the cosmos will incessantly unleash,
that in no way anyone can control.

The plans would never go wrong, I thought,
    her invocations to the mysterious
forces of universe, alone make it happen,
in all humility now I realize!

Deeply I cherish, the feminine power,
that walks with me matching step to step,
in the true tradition  of brahminical wisdom, I chant:
"Not for me, but all this sacrificial offering,
for the plants, animals and humans, the whole of universe.
Each and every speck in this limitless cosmos
is webbed together, for ever and aye,
Oh!   the consciousness that pervades in all
the connecting stream flowing to the ocean,
be the lighted lamp, burning within,
dispel once and for all the darkness of ignorance."

You ask me,
Do I miss you?
How can I miss you?
You are always with me,
Your face behind my eyes,
Your soul sleeping in my heart,
The essence of you dances for me,
Sinuous curves shimmy within shadows.

You ask me,
Do I love you?
You should be asking,
How much you love me?
Then measure that feeling,
Holding it tightly deep inside,
Knowing that I feel just the same,
With every single fibre of my being.

You ask me,
Do I miss you?
Perhaps, I might sigh,
The very truth, though,
Is that I miss you terribly,
Is that part of me aches for you,
Though we are intrinsically entwined,
Sometimes, such closeness is not enough.

You ask me,
Do I love you?
Do you need to ask?
I live and breathe you,
As you live and breathe me,
Your roads lead to me, woman,
I am by your side, holding your hand,
One day, we will surely arrive together.

You ask me,
Do I miss you?
Everyday baby,
Never doubt it is so,
My pain is like your own,
Insomnia, numbing, yearning,
Hiding tears in the soft darkness,
But knowing, we will be free, one day.

Created while walking around woodland. 24th May 2015. First poem I memorized off by heart for quite awhile, so posted it here. This deals with love found in friendship, accepting feelings that cannot be changed, living a relationship physically separated, while emotions remain linked and trust and honour remains intact. We cannot help how we feel, but we can be true to ourselves and others.

If some day
I should pass you
clothed in shades
of pale pastel

all I ask
is turn your face
from my failing
sense of taste...
I have an age old dread
of an old age dress sense..

maybe i'm better off without you,
because the days seem brighter
without your shadow in the way
standing over me,
acting like it's okay.

O my bleeding heart aches to see days from old.
When I had a double portion of your Holy Spirit.
When things seem so much more simpler then.
I felt so much more blessed back then even though..
I was without an income , but you were my provider.
Providing all my needs, but with great Flavor then.
I felt your presence in such a greater way then Lord.
