I wash the world from my body.  Thick in its desires, its wants and needs.  Heavy with grief and suffering.  I try to purge myself of the violence and greed and the fascination with death and dying.

I shed clothes as a knight shedding his armor in hopes that the light will find a way to cleanse my soul.

I lie exposed for all to see.  No barriers, no cover-up, just me.  But you turn away.  Do I disgust you?  My head hangs low.  The water pouring down my back.  Should I wash away too?  Would you know I was gone?

My sins are cleansed but the water continues to pour.  There is no friend, there is no love, there is no god.  I am man, incomplete.

As I wash away, I see you coming.  Will you rescue me?  Or am I already lost?  A trickle, a tear, a drop of water in the shower.

lo the ugly duckling, a face no one could take,
left all alone to live an unknown fate

who by chance met a blind rabbit, who's hearing was very keen,
and they became fast friends, because he remained unseen

and one day he reflected, I'm glad you cannot see,
I didn't scare you off so you found the inside me

Oh you silly duck, I can see just fine,
I found what really matters, in your heart and mine

For every day with a bright sun and a clear sky there seems to be a gloom reserved just for me.  In this familiar darkness I see all too well the demons within and without.

And so I wander through every day with a clouded mind as if in a maze
and every night reciting a prayer to mother pain and father torment.

I wallow in your tears as your words rip my heart asunder, soul thrown to the winds I drown in the agony of your love.

The pain of you keeps me awake at night and I keep it close thinking I just might hold you again and say it's alright, but now I only travel memories, treasuring every mile and I wipe the tears all the while knowing sadness has a way of making me smile

I'd love to be an eagle, soaring through the sky!  Breathing in the heavens, an ever watchful eye.  Surfing all the currents, wings beating strong and proud  Witnessing a sunrise, high above the clouds.

I'd love to be a dolphin, gliding in the sea.  Jumping over waves, playing gleefully.  Racing with my pod full of life and song, chasing after sunsets to see what lies beyond.

I'd love to be a rabbit, I'd love to be a bear.  I'd love to be an owl with an ever watchful stare.  I'd love to be a monkey, swinging all around. I'd love to be a horse, racing on the ground!

I'd love to be these things and the greatest part of all, is knowing that I will, when asleep I fall

I have seen life and I have laughed and I have cried.  I have met struggle and pain but I have endured and I have tried.  I have learned much in my time, experience that you may not see.  Yet through heart ache and pain I will smile and you will know that I am me.

You wrap yourself tightly with your blankets of pain and sorrow
Are you afraid of letting go, afraid of starting a new tomorrow?
Not letting go keeps you away from me
Alone is not where you want to be.
