Black stained hands
Made me realize
That he who stares back is a man
A boy has changed from the feet to his eyes
Accepts no shame in letting lose a tear
Learned that you cant live in question with subconscious fear
Green cactus in the yellow sea

Sleepless night #?
James A Jun 2018
Why do I keep death inside of me?
Like shallow pools on summer days
Turns out, it wasn't so deep
Prayers can't ever keep it away
Cactus in winter, please freeze over
But pitch black tornado, it inches closer
Not to die but merely for it to end
A familiar eclipse
Hated cherished friend

On a walk home
James A Sep 2018
A dim blue glow
On tonight's walk home
Trees rustle in gossip
As lonely winds dance in streets
On tonight's walk home
Mothers comforts frightened babies
As man and wife lay in bliss
Another nights walk home
My heart softly beats
As the mind drifts far
Deep into the desert dunes
Under another walk home

Spring
James A May 2018
I rose before the sun wore it's mask
I sat at the edge of the world
Contemplating the task beforehand
The fury of winter has gone into annual slumber
While the lady of the desert awakens for her summer
I removed my shadow
Who kept me company throughout the night
I lowed my pen for the first time
As the flowers began to bloom and write
No longer should I find
Comfort in the endless night
The sun has risen and forever shall stay up
Now time to roam with curiosity and an empty cup

Dead End
James A May 2018
Near the end of a beginning
And beginning of an end
As I sit alongside a brother, my dearest friend
Surrender to stars
A walk among forgotten men
Unfinished #1

Every night I stare into an abyss
It laughs, dances, and begs me to jump in for a swim
I don't remember where it came from
Maybe it's best I don't exactly know
I know for sure
That beyond it, lies my temple covered in gold

Mushrooms
James A Aug 2023
To the east
At the count of one
A candle snuffs out
Under a mushroom cloud I felt this

Be
James A May 2018
Be
Time to see
Seconds to breathe
Time to grow
Walk the path home
There's only one me
So time to be

Laundromat whirls
James A Feb 21
I refuse to look at the mirror
Scared of what I’ve seen
Careful of what I’ll be
Don’t you see? Don’t you see?
I don’t care if I lived or died
In frustration and disrepair I started to cry
What were my promises again?
Or am I just wasting time?
