Not by the mean faces
I see everyday ,
who smile
with a mask on.

Not by the harsh voices
I hear everyday,
that always
pull me down.

But by the unseen faces,
by their unheard voices,
only their words-
the wisdom within...

I am inspired.
On the small balcony,
they sit blanket wrapped,
just past midnight.

Earth smells of rain,
cloud dazzling secrets.

As he leans in,
not for a kiss,
but to give a piece
of his past
to her soul.

Sadness always takes
By surprise.
Enveloping with its
Heavy, languid
breath.

Bitter wine pours
Through the exhausted body.
Leaving scarlet traces
From its sharp needles.
I took a knife & cut the
vine

that tethered me to
you

No longer mine & that's just
fine,

   I consider myself
rescued

I'm happy to see you missing
me,

  because I'm not missing
you

  Predictably, it's clear to
see

  without me you couldn't
  do

While under your care I didn't
thrive

you starved me of your love

It made me know &realize

 you would never grow up

I now have reclaimed my
energy

it has grown &
bloomed

A bouquet of positivity

and a life that is brand new

Everything goes well

the way it's going, there is --

no final judgement.
Collection "Local traffic"
Back when Tigers smoked and Cranes
played fiddle late in the night,
back when men left the forests
for fear of the Moon Bears’ songs,
back when women were revered
for their surging red moon dance,
I remember less warfare,
more reason to feast and sing,
I recall my beginning
as father took mother’s hand
and bathed her in the river
in the late Korean Spring.
“Back when tigers used to smoke” is apparently a Korean idiom used as an equivalent to “once upon a time” or “a long time ago”.

Depressed—fighting silent wars,
Demons whisper through the pores
Of my thoughts. I try to stand,
But the weight won't leave my hands.

I'm not done. I'm not yet through,
But it's hard—what can I do?
I’ve got to fight for sanity,
But it's draining all of me.

Only midday, yet I’m bare,
Empty lungs and vacant stare.
This is more than tired breath—
This is what depression says.

the dark is too loud
the light too quiet
im used to the storm
