Nights
When I cannot see the stars
Are the most tragic.

To see their beauty
Covered by the clouds,
          As if they are jealous,
Unwilling to share the joyful twinkle
Of the stars with anyone else.
          They cling to them,
Withholding their beauty from me,
Leading me to yearn for them.

Becoming addicted to that twinkle
I conclude that I am willing
To travel as many miles as it takes,
To discover the most secluded area around,
To hike the tallest mountain I can find,
Just to see those bright stars
Shine down on me.

They remind me of your smile,
          You know?
How it illuminates me,
How it brightens up my darkest days.
          Or your eyes,
How they twinkle
When you talk about something you love
          Or even when you laugh.

I would go miles to see your eyes,
Cross the ocean to see you smile,
Climb the tallest mountain to hear your laugh

The nights she comes back into your life
Are the nights that I find so tragic,
They're the nights my stars
          Are hidden from me,

The cloud of her presence
Covering the stars that fill your face.
Your smile hidden beneath your taut lips
          Formed in an impenetrable frown.
The twinkle in your eyes
          Hazed with over-thinking.

These are the nights I find most tragic,
The nights that I vow
To do whatever it takes
To see my stars shine bright
Once again.

I believe in ghosts.
I want to.
I believe in all gods; therefore

None.
I believe in both the survival and
Demise of Mankind.

I believe in the perfection within
Every shard and smithereen.
Existence is

Excellence.
Stop. Stop correcting yourself
To pieces.

You don't need to drop those sizes.
You don't need those wrinkles
Gone.

You don't need that stanza to
Rhyme; to reverberate; to shine
Standing out like

Embraces on a battlefield.
Everything created is an
Infant. Approve of it.

Adore it. Admire it.
Love your child, and
Forgive it. For

All it
Refuses
To be.

Why fight against the world so hard?
Does your hatred never stop?
Your poems sit here on my tongue
Like bitter lemon drops

What's shaken your compassion?
who put darkness at your core?
Do you scowl down at the paper
As you write your nevermores?

Why not try being happy
try some kindness one or twice
and shed your bitter cloak for good
defrost your heart of ice

I sit and read your poems
and I wonder who's behind
this anger oozing through the screen
but the truth I'll never find

So I say to you good lady
Get a grip, some therapy
and let a little light in
to your tower of misery.
To she I fear to name :-)

I carry the weight of your smile
like it is someone else's baggage that I am planning to steal
Something so desirable that I can not obtain on my own
I look in the direction you are in and I am being told
by the voice in the back of my mind
(that most of the time knows what it's talking about)
and it tells me not to stare
but how can I not
when something as beautiful as you
is in my sight of vision

You talk of loneliness so frequent in your speech,
You talk of loneliness as if it's company, you beseech.
You say you search for light & truth
Integrity--it grounds your roots
You rarely talk but when you do,
It's loneliness that torments you?
It occurs to me that you are blind!
I will not rest until you're mine!

But wait...

Your heart is one I've seen before
So fragile & vacant at its core...
I couldn't live with that bloodshed on my hands
(Yet, that hasn't stopped me with any other man)
But your's is one I will respect
So, from the shadows I will protect!
I'll be your angel in disguise
No one will harm you; They'll be denied!

A saddened day with us apart
Tis better this way--to guard your heart!
You are my God, my Love, One Soul!
Do not fear, my Dear, you're never alone!

She is the brightest star
        in the night sky.
But in the morning,
        when the sun comes,

              *she is nothing.

I watched his heart break
it dripped all over his shirt
a dark crimson swamp
I kept my distance.

I watched him fall to the ground
moving his hands across the ground (contact-searching, seemingly)
he had this look on his face of:
“where is it?”.

I thought
“I should help him”
But I knew no matter what
I’d never see those heart pieces.

The last time I saw you,
you were living off the moon
and over ripe peaches
The last time I saw you,
the mountains echoed
and the northern lights spelled out our names
The last time I saw you,
our hands were full
of each other
The last time I saw you,
I watered your dying flowers
The last time I saw you,
I knew it would be
our last
