Black Bird

A plaintive song a black bird sang,
before he took to flight.
He did talk to remind me,
to be cautious of night.

I did see as he did fly,
he left a gift for me.
Some of what he ate that day,
flew right upon my knee.

Though he was so black as night,
I sent him a wish strong.
Telling him I was of light,
and knew I’d feel no wrong.

For the night has stars so bright.
They dance yes every night.
I have angels round me now.
Their cool and out of sight.

When I wrote you this, I was in a really bad place
   do you remember?

My faith is practically dead right now, future me
   do you remember?

You're missing the woman you love that you lost
   do you remember?

She's that sparkle of gold stuck in your soul
   do you remember?

Or how strained things are between Kayla and you
   do you remember?

Remember that night you wanted to end it all?
   do you remember?

Have you come to terms with your friend's suicide, yet?
   do you remember?

You're going to be a warrior someday... I have to endure
   do you remember?

Has anyone wanted your love, your passion?
   do you remember?

I hope you're married by the time I read this again...
   do you remember?

Maybe you'll still be where I am now, stuck in love
   do you remember?

Just know it was worth it, loving her. Even though she's lost...

I gotta say, it's hard to write to your future self...

The title and repetition is my hopes that I'll forget the Hell I'm living in right now...

Eternal Dreams

Gone

If anyone will listen
To what I'm about to say
Please understand my hurt
And how I got this way

Left behind in darkness
Wedged between walls of ice
I pray that someone hears me
Friend or foe...that would be nice

Isolated in my fears
Caught between truth and lies
Will someone wake me up
Or hear my cries

I don't believe in loving
Or having a caring friend
Because the second that you trust them,
Is the second that they bend.

So in a hollow heart of mine
Is an invy of envy that's starting to twine
And sprout the weeds of guilt
That slowly began to quilt

Over my hatred that began to grow
Over my bloods ocean to flow
Which to that I began to fall
And to which I lost it all.

I'm sorry for the people I've hurt
With the death I have presented
But seeing what this could of been
There's nothing that could've been prevented

I paint a picture
With a twist
With a razor
Against my wrist

You hear my pleads
You see my cries
I writhe in pain
And you wonder why

I made these scars
Not long ago
I cry it out
With tears of pain

I've held it in
Now I can't let go
These words of sorrow
Hidden deep inside

The gun, the bombs, the revolution
Has got something to do

Cornelius, Rupert, Travis, Tyler Durden
Who could really tell how many are we in a single body?
Mind creating multiple personas, good or bad
Or both could mean the same thing,
A label, a name as it is,
Could mean something or nothing

And there could always be a Tyler Durden
The Bold and Free, The Enlightened one

We see ourselves as we’d like to be
Good or Bad? Again, we decide what is right
