Grow! Grow! Grow!
Or you'll be left behind
How productive was your week?
Are you accountable for your time?

Tell me just what it is-
You bring to the table
How much would you profit me?
If you are even able.

Next! Next! Next!
Could you command a room?
Can you read context?

Tell me your greatest weakness
Is it also your greatest strength?
What exactly is your worth?
When you include your height and weight.

Are you reliable?
Do you think you're personable?
How do you work with coworkers?
Would you share bathrooms with her?

How flexible is your time-
when in truth its actually mine.
Good answer, sign this line,
No need to know what this implies.

See you Monday, watch your breaks.
Be on time, don't clock out late.
Remember there's no overtime.
My door is open anytime.

Welcome to the family.
Weekly breakdowns guaranteed.
Tour our facility, get to know the faculty.
We've had to lock the balcony,
apart from that small tragedy,
here we live quite lavishly.

First day's always the hardest one
Keep your head down till it's done
If you can bare the powderkeg
You can expect your weekly check

See you soon and don't forget,
You haven't even started yet!

"Ah humans, the vein of their own existence when
it comes to the workforce,
Wouldn't be surprised if you made everyone work
by force,
Women used to get mad cause all the men made more,
And now a lot of women really don't want work anymore,
Black men in the hood , no matter how hard they try,
Still don't qualify for jobs , not daquan or levi,
I wonder why ? We've been oppressed for so **** long,
Might wanna' stay tuned , this is gonna' be a
conundrum.."

Sitting by the desk,
Typing my Mournings, until rest,
Close to the end of today.
I mourn, the distant glares,
shadows shining through thin lines,
People come and go,
Going nowhere, I must love.
Fighting for some strength,
I find myself isolated from the rest.
Drinking a hot night,
I find myself, overthinking,
Silence through parallel remarks.
Compared to the old days,
I'm not broken by the unrest,
Closer to the finish line,
I find myself beginning a new track.
California dreaming,
Fighting for my lines,
Without thinking, once or twice,
A silent Melody until dark,
Doubting in broken time.
I continue without a mark,
Violence in the start,
War is but a breeze,
For Peace finds me at last.
Bouncing off of sounds,
But reflection of my chords,
Silence you will find,
If I see, who you really are.
I had a dream,
20 years had passed,
You and I had grown older.
Fate had taken a cruel twist on me,
I had to sail away,
Move to the city of Paris.
I wrote you letters,
You wrote them back,
But the ink was laced with tears.
I found a job selling newspapers,
My dream of writing crushed.
You went to work in hairdressing,
For not nearly enough pay.
I saved up each paycheck,
Worked to the bone each day.
I purchased you a plane ticket,
Flew you out to France.
We were happy once again,
Love knows no bounds.
Paris pronounced the French way. (pare-ie)
I just want to be outside...all day.
Well, from 4 to 2 Monday thru Friday.
I just want to feel some pride.
Where whatever it takes is right.

I wish there was a place.
Trying my hardest, wasn't a waist.
Where I can learn from mistakes.
Without fear of shame.

To throw myself into whole.
Be glad to leave a bit of my soul.
To net a livable wage.
To live to buy and to save.

To have something to look forward to.
This is my wish I wish would come true.
It used to exist, but now just eludes.
I just want a job I want to go to.

Does a star really burn in the sky?
Or do they simply work till they die?
Short poem I thought of while pondering jobs, I think the burning of stars is a lovely metaphor for who the capitalist system works you until you die.

Stir and Mix
Stir and Mix,
Keep your head down
Cuz’ hell you’re helping them drown.

Shake and Pour
Shake and Pour
Not your fault if they fall
Just wipe the counter s’more

Wipe and Scrub
Wipe and Scrub
It’s no wonder you feel undeserving
Of their love

Turn and Lock
Turn and Lock
“Congrats Kid, you’re off the clock”
Sorry for the long pause, School blocked the site for a bit but I'm back now! This poem was inspired by a career readiness course I've been taking and I've always wanted to bar-tend.

I gave too much, I see that now—
My time, my light, I don’t know how.
But now I choose to call it back,
And seal the holes that formed each crack.

They took my softness, stole my peace,
Demanded more, and gave no ease.
Their chaos isn’t mine to bear,
Their wounds aren’t ones I need to wear.

I’m not your friend, I’m not your crutch—
This soul is sacred, not a clutch.
From now, my light is mine to keep,
You’ll haunt no more the way I sleep.

I felt the drain, I felt the cost,
But now reclaim what I had lost.
No more will guilt or shame remain—
You’re not my burden, not my chain.

I cleanse the time that left me frayed,
The debt unpaid, the trust betrayed.
I take my power, my love, my fire—
I rise above, I climb up higher.

This wound will close, and I will shine,
This soul, this work, this light is mine.
And never will I serve once more
A weight that shakes me to my core.

I'd rather be with friends
than on the receiving end
of another certification
of my value in the tainted nation
fated to find its way back to masters
who offer no explanation
as to why they cast this draining paper
into a world that could be castless
if only we checked our own behaviour.

I'd rather be with friends
than working on a promised future
my abuser talking of a nuisance youth
and pointing fingers saying 'useless'
while they stuff us into suits
and boots that bare no resemblance
to the feet that marked our ascendance,
I seek not vengeance for the things we lost
I simply wish to reduce the cost
of being what we've become
cold and lost
and to continue what we've begun
to press on despite the cost and animosity
and all the atrocities
despite this we strive to build a world
that tempers its ferocity
and lets me be.

With friends.
About: Wanting to build a life with my friends rather than going off to be 'successful'.
