As I grow older
it seems I attend more funerals
than weddings
it’s quite confusing sometimes
trying to distinguish between the two
Bewildered at the love I gave,
knowing I got none in return, while pouring more,
anesthetic ****** at times.
Elevated at times when I discovered someone new,
oh easily I give my heart to.
The damage is when my true self melts away
and I forget.
While no love lost, no lost found

Romantic gestures in a relentless fashion,
conscious in every moment, closing into
enlightenment, blooming to boundless
edges, like the lotus, newly found love,
from a starting point of fulfillment.
Finishing on something beyond conception.

Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today
That's what the man will say
All will be okay
He will say kiss the bride
From that day on
I will always be by your side
My best will pat me on the back

Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today
To unite man and bride
We will love each other to the end
With all our heart and soul
And through it all
God willing
We will be just in love as we were the day we met
This is the poem I will read on my wedding day God willing I marry the girl I want now
To poetry,
There is all kinds of women out there, women in the physical form, it’s only their personality is there difference is & where I value, soft spoken voices, touches over poetry curves, breathes & gasps, eyes like stars I gaze upon, addiction to romance, lets us talk in deep discussion, if not, let me glare deep in the eyes that you own, experience life together, let me experience you, love is a deep concern of mine. But such concerns I cannot commit to pen & paper that produces poetry. Love, bleeding into one soul as neo-enlightenment.
This is my hour of gladness
Here in this holy place
Joy that forbids all sadness
Glows as I see your face.

Bells proclaim the moment
God be with us now
As we seek fulfillment
In this sacred vow.

The things you bring to me
Will now and ever be
The greatest gift my world has known
All our tomorrows will be golden
Because the two of us are one.

You give your  heart to me
And in it I can see
A life of joy as our reward.
The love that we have built together
Will in God's blessing be restored.

If we walk with the Lord He'll help us to grow
And become ever strong and pure
He will show us the way to know in harmony each day
Love will endure.

The things you've given me
Are now and endlessly
The richest gift my world can own.
Tomorrow promises fulfillment
Because the two of us are one
God gives his blessing on this moment
As now the two of us are one.

I wrote these lyrics and my husband wrote a beautiful melody.  It was sung at our wedding any several family weddings since.  I'm proud of it.

OK, I photograph weddings at City Hall
Done thousands, pays the bills in so many ways
The smiles are so genuine
It's a happy place

I got all kinds of rates for your pocketbook
Hey, you gotta have at least one picture for the memory book
But how about the one I didn't take?
That was the one on my wedding day

She was sitting on a bench at the Marriage Bureau
I asked her if she needed a picture on that special day
She replied, "I'm not getting married, no way"
I gave her my card, just in case

This is a true story, I kid you not
We got together, we tied the knot
Thus, this is a holy place
Holy moley, wholly great
Where true love congregates every day
Just ask me, you know what I'll say

May we forever be lovers,
May we forever be friends,
And should we hurt each other,
May we quickly make amends.

May we enjoy our passion,
But never let compassion die,
Thinking in selfless terms as we,
Never emphasising I.

May we forever be soul-mates,
May our love eternally last,
May the food of love sustain us,
May we never have to fast.

May we use each other’s strengths,
When we are feeling weak,
May we both learn to compromise,
And always as one voice speak.

May we never keep dark secrets,
May we never tell each other lies,
May we both work unceasingly,
To ensure our love never dies.

My heart was very battered,
It was also broken,
It had endured so, so, much,
Of which I haven’t spoken.

With your love and tenderness,
My heart pounds once again,
Our hearts now beat together,
And there they shall remain.

Now …
My heart has found its true love,
My heart has found its home,
My heart is yours forever,
My heart is yours alone.

Sometimes I think of long lace hemlines, following a trail of white petals

and tree branches arching to form a dome,

sunlight dappling the green leaves like stained glass in a cathedral

But that’s not what I dream of.

Instead, I dream of black nights that turn into dim mornings

where we crowd the couch

And you play your guitar while we sing, voices cracking

and when we look at each other with blood-shot eyes,

we can’t help but laugh.

I dream of rain slapping our skin when we run, arm in arm, for cover,

my jeans are soaked, I shake from the cold, but your hands are warm

I dream of alarms ringing in the apartment, smoke billowing from the pan,

Because I burned the eggs again, the steam and smell of soap and grease

when I scrub the pan and make toast instead–

and you insist you don’t care—

but I make up for it with coffee later.

I dream of long trips, arms out the window and arguing over who’s going to drive

or who gets the radio station this time

because I’m tired of your folksy rock and you really,

really don’t want to listen to Beyonce

but we both do it anyway.

If I dream of a white dress, it has stains from the coffee we shared.

If I dream of petals, they’ve been drenched by rain and torn and trampled by our dancing.

Don’t tell me what I dream of isn’t beautiful because it’s messy and flawed.

For a thing of joy is a thing of beauty forever.
