Journey of Days Jun 2017
dawning

comes at a time not determined by man's clock

Journey of Days May 2017
guileless
now you can accept
the pain that you bore

@journeyofdays
Journey of Days May 2017
when you know that
everything has led to this moment

all at once
the path is revealed
you see home

What became of me?
Stripped of my identity
Grief engulfed my soul
Where is the girl of old?
Was I simply existing
Inside a well formed shell?
No-one new my weaknesses,
No-one could tell.
What became of me?
Stripped of my identity
When you came to me
I was oh, so happy
You left me feeling hijacked
And my world was shattered through
Now I’ve lost my confidence
And lies became the truth.
What became of me?
Stripped of my identity.
I’ve become so sad
Thinking of what I could have had
I must learn to live with this
Yesterday’s girl non-existent
Now I have to get to know
The me I really ought to show
I’m living with a stranger in my head.
What became of me?
Now I see that I am free
Welcome in the new
And start to become truer to myself
I wrote this poem after the journey of losing a baby and enduring a period of deep depression and anxiety. Coming out the other side I realised I had never listened to my inner voice and was grateful that grief gave it a platform. It set me free. This poem perhaps resonates with anyone going through some form of transformation. Especially one of self acceptance.
Journey of Days May 2017
at least for this day
it calls for a submission
a call to account
be engulfed by the terminal end of the sunlight hours
setting clouds, earth and sea alight
a final fiery anointing

whispers are that you are sorry
reaching some level of self-awareness
I wonder if you are enjoying the same clarity
like this one here
with the sun setting fire to the waters
lapping at my feet

confident here at water’s edge
I see what has happened
and choose not to be part of the psychosis
you continue to spin
stirring up micro storms and wreckage
fueling dark fires to cover your prickled hide

fire on water
is not the end of revelation
there is a pause for the night
I will sleep wiser
knowing that I have taken the right course
you are no longer part of my journey

this day ends
it takes my submission
and examination of conscience performed
subsumed into the terminal end of the sunlight hours
another fiery rebirth
it floods the dark

What? You need healing?
You are the kind of person
Who can heal herself!

Contemplating meaning
       known paths seceding
into an abyss
       of what could be

Then all at once
The heavens became empty
And as dark as the void
From which God created them
And I knew in my soul
The era of mankind had ended
Yet the faithful remained
To watch the nothingness unfold
And the stars die out
From the eternity spoke a truth
As unseen hands shaped a world
That was always meant to be
"Let there be light."
After the Battle.
Xan Abyss Apr 2017
Trapped in a cavernous haze
A blazing inferno which burns on for days
Relentless, eternal
Incendiary waves
And you stand no chance of escape

Death by Stoning!
Buried in Smoke and Rock
Never Knowing
Where it all went wrong

Dwelling in a hellish abyss
Looking for the way you came in
But you're lost as your cause
And time gives no pause
To those barricaded within

Death by Stoning
Apocalyptic Revelation
All is Burning
Succumb to Smoke Inhalation

When the world is on fire
And the flames are only growing higher
Then try to ride the dragons thunder
And let it drag you under

Dying an ethereal death
Laughing at the chaos
And mayhem you left
Taking that final breath
Say Goodbye to suffering
with one final step

Death by Stoning
Apocalyptic Revelation
All is Burning
Succumb to Smoke Inhalation
