It was dark,
And there was rain.
I could barely see the reflection of the lifeless city sky,
In the shallow puddles,
I was passing over.
The pavement,
It took the form of a rough-backed beast,
That wanted nothing but to devour all,
All except me.

I felt lonely.

The world passes on,
And I remain.
Drops of water tap me gently.
I wish it would rain down, hard.
I wish it would rain tears,
So that I knew I wasn't alone.
Ripples, small ripples,
Shake me,
And I feel like I don't matter.
This is kind of a mix of ideas that I want to dedicate to individual pieces, but I thought it might be interesting. Here is a little piece of my brain.

I watched the world spin from the windshield of this old car.
I felt the slip of the bald tires,
My hands tighten around the wheel,
And I screamed.
I screamed but somewhere in all of that mess,
That chaos,
I knew I was going to be okay.
I knew I was going to live,
Despite totaling my car.
Trees.

Listen to the pitter patter
Paws of black padded pink
Hear the raindrops spray once again
To rest on silky fur
Taste the honey on a spiked tongue
Coating paws in bittersweet
Smell the dry sunlight whisk away sour memories
As the cat carries on
Watch the puddles catch every step
Paces always constant
Feel the blood pool beneath
The cat leaps off the path

Tried to tie the rain drops
when there was rain all around
In the chains of nature’s beauty
I tried to tie it up
Soaked in rain
feeling pretty much cold
heart bathed in love light
Shining brightly in the forest

playing with animals around me
in the puddles
splashing through them
i jumped over few branches
waiting for the sun
But you came right to me
like my light and the warmth.

...or--what?

(sonnet #MMMMMMMCDXXXII)

Rain trips so lightly in the hallowed sense
Of keener silence listning to that frail
Step traffic rushes heedless through.  Birds hail
With merry notes and fragile, as from hence
Lo, crickets murmer like for all intents
The solemn ghost of patience walks here, pale
As Sunday's dimmer eye.  Clouds' masque the veil
Oer all, an airplane's voice sifts through, and whence?
Oh! how the maples' boughs rock, tinged as twere
By orange' first warnings of that rendezvous
With Death.  Winds caller as they whisper through
This calm, wool, tights, and tweed now, are not poor.
And if I mourn that I've ne lover fer
Whatever, somehow even that's not new.

Titles, as all know, are rather tricky things.  And when I finished this particular stanza I drew a blank, then...presto?

through the happy,
through the glad,
when the good things yield their crops,
when life just grins and never stops,
puddles of laughter all around.

through the friendship,
through the love,
through the yellow, orange, and pink,
when God paints the sky with heaven’s ink,
puddles of laughter all around.

jump so high,
nearly fly,
puddles of laughter all around

through the black,
through the bleak,
through dreary days where joy is dead,
through poison thoughts that pound your head,
puddles of laughter all around.

through the sorrow,
through the pain,
through endless grey and silent tears,
through the seven famine years,
puddles of laughter all around.

going down,
run aground,
puddles of laughter all around.
friendship rings,
angels sing,
Laughter soaks through everything.
God and good friends are all you really need.
