We’re hungry
But we lacking

We can’t even dare ask
Cos for us all, eating food is really an heinous task

Their moving out in their cars
While we, in here we are, hiding in our infectious scars

I wanna go out of here to there
But what about these ones I’ve got as friends

It’s really irking
But can I be in such a hurry?

If I have the brain to leave!
How will my younger ones live?

If I have the power to go and beg!
What about those in here, living without legs?

But then, we’re hungry
And we’ve got no one sending us daily meals

Seems I just have to make a run for it
And beg a few things for human being to eat

We all don’t have a choice but to live our time this way
For we are children of those who didn’t make good use of their young days.

I stared out into the slums of a ruined society
Where the rich and the poor drew great disparity

I walked the streets that divided the city
On my left, the rich and to my right, those in poverty

The further I walk more sleeping eyes loomed upon me
A great unease befell with each shifting steps

The privileged stared down from their thrones
While the poor watched from below in envy

Politicians and conglomerates drew blood from the city's vein
While its citizens struggle to live through its pain

The rebels prowled the streets for their voices to be heard
Their cries silenced by temptations of ***** money

It reminded me of scenes from dystopian movies
Only this time I was living in its reality
My first take on poems about social issues. Please do leave a comment below to help me improve

Jamin Hollis has her residence in The Garden.
In The Garden, in the bloated blocks of Transit Town.
Behind the day shelter, beside the corner store.
Across the parking lot of the thrift shop.
Beyond the fluorescence of the pharmacy.
Right there, just a hop and a skip from the trains.
Right there, just a scoot from the bus barn.

Jamin Hollis is a rampant ***** and she needs,
she needs to die.

Jamin Hollis is a rampant ***** and indeed,
she'll die tonight.

Wait for the streetlights to dot the immediate sky.
Most of them are dead or flickering in the blocks.
Wait for the junk rats to leave for the metro line.
Most of them are dead or flickering.
If any open eyes remain on the sidelines, take a breath.
Collect your nerve and toss a penny on the pavement.
The eyes will blind to the shine and they will prostrate.

Bow with a force enough to imbed gravel in the forehead.

Jamin Hollis is a rampant ***** and she needs,
she needs to die.

Jamin Hollis is a rampant ***** and indeed,
she'll die tonight.

Sometimes I'm jealous of the poor
The financially poor
The ones that live in houses so close they're all like roommates
No, it isn't hypocrisy
This is the saying
They were born in the wild,
Learned to adapt early.
They fight for their share
And they're fair, about their share
Because we're all just trying to make it

Sometimes I'm jealous of the rich
The truly rich
The ones whose brothers don't have to share a name
The ones whose women they protect as their own
As their sisters, as their mothers
This is family
This is community
They respect from the old to the young
And protect those of their kind
But they give everyone a fair shot,
Because we're all just trying to make

I take my imaginary pen
I write down my anger
I close my eyes and count to ten
just to breathe a little longer

It's laughable really
when I see you justifying
Sure, you're all touchy-feely
only goodwill, so hard-trying

When you said that to me
where was your heart at?
Why calling me your better-half-to-be
when all you wanted was a shoulder pat?

Oh you, with your wonderful poetry,
oh, lies so beautifully written down
please just stop, you don't know no poverty
in your emerald sea everything you wanted me to believe is to drown

I never thought you would make me think
the worst of you instead
And I swear I could only stand and stare and shrink
when you didn't care to lose your head

Now you haunt me like the headless horseman
and you will forever
but I do not worry for my sanity, oh boy of thoughts turned cyan
I walked with ghosts before and a headless one is so less clever

And if you ever come back looking for this head of yours
Think twice, try a little bit harder wannabe
It might stick out of the sand at your emerald sea shores
Your love for me was never poetry

our biggest FAILURE yet, amongst all our grand designs and revolutions so forth, POVERTY. And it should be a SIN to think otherwise. In fact, to even utter the word “progress” should not be admissible to the tongue. Yes, technology has broken ground in the lines of industrial communication and data. And in digitalizing the Global front, but still fails dismally in sweeping the dust off the FLOOR, in layman's (lament) terms …the dusty faces of the POOR. Why is the World so keen in ostracising poverty as a human problem??? How can we be proud and call ourselves Inventers and architects of paradigms like the Food Chain, deriving History and experimenting the destiny of bloodlines from the sweat and adversity of the disadvantaged or non-privileged?? It’s so dehumanizing, no wonder God has no voice.  That’s why the world can never progress into the Future, coz we actually obsess in this perpetual vicious cycle like a possessive toy we can’t get enough of. It’s now become an unnatural part of this so-called human development and we’ve condoned it for so long, if anything it’s become bliss…IGNORANCE IS BLISS, right?

That’s why some of us are so absorbed by insurrection, we call ourselves REBELS…Because we don’t fall for the “Okey Dokey”, the “PINK is the new black, so let me be gay” propaganda. We don’t sell out the poor, WE DON’T HAVE TIME FOR A PINK WORLD, WE ONLY HAVE TIME FOR A “THINK” WORLD,

PRECISELY BECAUSE WE HAVE AN OBNOXIOUS CANINE SENSE OF LOYALTY TO THE POOR…FEEL ME

They say heaven and hell
will be the final in one’s end
But to us, we’re already there
We’re already witnessing stage one on planet earth

We’ve got so much as nothing to eat
and so to the streets, we take to feed
We just have to not die but live
since they’ll always be that caring hand who is willing to give

We’re children of those with nothing
We’re living in a place with nothing
living with a life of anything (comes and goes)
and so we too do not think of becoming something

Please, can you help us?
We don’t really think of becoming more
But you who is strong and can conceive greater thoughts
Please, teach us how we can live life with joy!

Please teach us what it’s like to be a child
To growing to youthful ages and then a fully bred man/woman
Please help us grow wise
And live our lives while on the right path!

Please, we do know we’ve got nothing to offer
and if we continue on this, we’ll grow wild
we’ll only set our minds on getting the cash
and if begging wouldn’t provide, we can just turn to rob people and banks.

Please, save our lives
For we know this we are children of circumstance
But we too want to become people of substance
and surely make impact.

Please save a dying soul.
