‘The Immensity’   by Stuart Williamson

“La Inmensidad”
Salvador’s words
Vast burgeoning watery place
Myriads of small creatures tumbling to the sands
Spent waves already fighting back against the tide
Cemetery walls crumbled in its wake
The bones of long dead fishermen once again felt the air

And a ***, the work of human hands
Striped with red around its rim
Cradled within a larger bowl
Exposed for us, and all to see
Left for a thousand years or more
To be held with pleasure once again.
On discovering an ancient *** as the sea tore away at the land.

Repetition after repetition,
I'm exhausted over the inconsistent text messages you continue sending,
I'm just confused about everything, your lies are making things unclear,
Sometimes I wonder if I don't try, will you still appear?
Not on my mentions, but on your mind,
Will a thought still be drawn to you in the same moment of time?

a child yearning for their parent’s touch, flinching at the grasp of anyone else’s

never introduced to kindness nor stability --- a child will seek comfort in forms outside human possibility

the bottom of a bottle, the inscription on a pill, the smoke of a substance

people never wanted a child and the child does not need people

a soulless blossom, an obdurate posy
yonder aglow heart of abrupt semblance
hidebound mind of a fledgling gal
her whereabouts were far-flung from the paramour

an opaque gloom sealed an exodus of rumination
frayed oddments of oaths atop the merriment
atrophied.. absorbed.. from pristine percipience
dimness of an omitted stipule aloof from his ardor

poised for sum, deflected from the camaraderie forever
bewilderment subdued his contend to anew discovered supposition
neverending paroxysms are intermittent forthwith
without flawness departing from this sphere... to the sphere as a whole

Yes, it is true
I once believed that I loved you
Just as I once believed in faries

Flesh on flesh to fingers on glass.
No longer do I say the words.
Instead the text I type tells you that “I love you.”
The evolution of emotion.
The technologicalization of the hearts fuel,
Makes the organic feel no longer relevant.
No longer do my lips show my expression.
Instead all I give is a kiss from my thumb.

So far away, but my presence lingers in an invisible stream.
Like a ghost I am with you.
Travelling through the waves.
A tower, our connector.
We love in the age of the screen,
The age of the machine.

Love now feels so solitary.
My heart no longer beats against your own.
Instead the buzzing of vibration beckons my digitized feelings.
I now find myself romancing alone,
Romancing the phone.

What if
I liked the way
You grinned at me

I knew youd
Be the death
Of me

Playing it off
You told me to lie

Never speak of this
Or she would cry

I kept it
Every time
Each time
Getting harder

When you grow distant
I chain you again

What if
I liked this
Kind of sin
