I stand there
teeth rattling, head chattering
watching the world slide not so gently
from a place I didn't know to a clear ----
hi.
how are you.
doin fine.
the sky's awfully blue

Some days are ephemeral
A short but sweet memory

Some are longer days
That carry me far away
And I simply drift

The days that are the longest
Are the ones that take me farthest

And I simply drift
Into the abyss of time
Chasms of nothing

The void of desolation
A veil torn to shreds by light

Till I find the path
That leads me back to myself
I will simply drift

Those days when you were told
These are the best, better behold

Those days when you were told
Learn the best, make yourself unfold

Those days when you were told
You are the best, be strong and bold

Those days when you were told
Take your rest, shelter from hot and cold

Those days when you were told
Do not test, patience is gold

Those days when you were told
It is not a jest, you will grow old.

Who knows when this world will stop
When the winds will change
And my heart will drop

I live this life knowing  
Only what I’ve learned
Whether good or bad

It’s days like these where I reflect
The light of the sun
And when darkness comes
I’ll fight tooth and nail
To see your shining hair
Brush upon mine

But for now
I’ll keep my selfish secrets
For no apparent reasons
Other than to remain an enigma
To your mellow heart

Sunday afternoon
With nothing to do
But fall in love

I can't sit around waiting for the rain to stop
waiting to just feel "okay"

I will paint the sky blue myself
no use in waiting for you to change to my ways

I can't sit waiting for the sun to peak through
skies of gray

The storm is gone
from now on
there will only be golden rays

I no longer need your lingering presence
nor rely on your praise

This is a new era
These are the good days

Embodying love
In a world of hate
From a family of love-hate
to a people who are bred for love and still hate
Is incredibly tiring
And yet,
With blackened eyes
I will still continue to love
for
I will never truly know
how much I am needed
by someone who is dangling
over the same edge
that I once fell over.
Choose love with your heart
and with your mind.
