Seconds ticking by on the clock, Circling around and around
Another day gone, another day of living.
I've survived...
Managed to live another measly 24 hours.
But, I AM NOT LIVING!

Another new year,
Another red-letter event.
One more unending day I've been stuck here alone on this planet of solitude.
I am alive...but I'm not living.

I'm not living if I don't have you to hold.
To spend every second of the clock talking to and thinking about.
To while away the time reminiscing all the happiness we shared together,
And planning every second of our future together.

You are the sunrise that breaks the ceaseless night.
You are the oxygen that fills my lungs.
The drum beat of my heart.
When I am with you I am not just alive;
I AM LIVING!

I miss you
I know I've not spoken to you
But it's because I don't want to lie to you
If I say hello, you'll ask me how I am
I’ll lie. I'll tell you I'm fine, or I'm good
But I'm not
I feel alone, lonely, emptiness
And I can't let you know that because I don't have a reason to feel this way
I just do
And I don't want to make it seem I'm making things up
I can't wait till I see you again
Because you make me happy
The happiest I've ever felt
And I don't want to burden you with my sadness when we’re apart because you deserve happiness
You are wonderful
You are everything, I'm my eyes
And I miss you

I can't change
I wish I could
If I could
I'd be happier
I don't know how
But I would
I'd be talking to you
Hour after hour
That would make me happier
You would make me happier
You always did
You never even knew
You just always had the words
If anything could change me
You could

We were a frozen lake, pristine, glistening, perfection.
We were always going to fall through.

We lived on two islands.
Stood by the ocean, always within sight,
But never in reach.
So, for years we just looked on.
Wondering what could have been.
If not for the water, and the danger it screams.

Yet one day I could take it no more.
Dived in - head first, determined to reach your shore.
Barely half way and my legs giving in
I wondered just how much a fool I had been.

But then I see you once more,
But not on the beach? You’re here, you’re in front of me. I was so happy I swore.
As we embraced one another,
The sea took its prize.
We fell under the waves and I began to realise.

That this was the end,
The end of our lives.
Yet I’d never been as happy as now – looking into your eyes.
As we hit the seafloor,
I don’t feel regret.
I just hold on to your hands,
Knowing our love will live on – forevermore.

My   life    is    staccato
Living    by   each   solitary   beat
Every   memory   I   have   is   sharp

When you came you brought melody,
You paused my loneliness with harmony,
When I was with you my life moved rhythmically.

But bar by bar you beat me down

Arguments began to repeat:
Inevitably we fell out of tune,
And as it always does the music ends.

I’m not who you think I am.
How could I possibly be?
You’ve only known me so long. But,
I’ve lived my whole life as me.

But there’s nothing wrong with who I am,
Well…scratch that, there’s plenty.
You want me to name three?
No problem, I could give you twenty.

You think I’m really nice,
But in the past, I know I’ve been colder than ice.
I’ve given up on people when they needed me most,
Pretended not to see them, like they were a ghost.

But I carry the guilt with me every day,
This debt I’m in I can never repay.
I can’t change the past but I can apologise,
For running away, right as the problems arise.

I’m not who I want to be but I’ll try to be better.
With every word and every letter,
I’ll try to be good. I’ll try to be helpful, and kind,
Maybe then I can find some peace of mind.

I describe us as the autumn -
Crisp, as the morning breeze grazes against our skin,
Colourful, like the leaves falling gracefully from above,
Captivating, as the sunset's glow draws ever closer.
But behind all that magnificent splendour - decay
Sean Ryan Nov 2016
The snowflakes danced around us,
Innocently we danced with them,
And as flowers in the spring we blossomed.
Bathing in the sweet shine of the summer evening.
Slowly we fell with the autumn leaves, dying, decaying, rotting.
And eventually the snow melted,
And with it, melted all laughter, joy, purity, happiness and love.
Gone.

Our world has always been in the apocalypse,
The Devil isn’t just one person.
The Devil is no man.
The devil is within each of us,
A living part of us.
There is no Messiah coming;
There never was.
We are the Messiah,
Just as we are the Devil
There is no paradise coming;
Not unless we create it,
Not until we all become the better halves of ourselves.
Once we all overcome our inner demons,
Defeat the devil within us.
But until that day will come:
We can never have peace!
We can never have harmony!
We can never have paradise!

Silent               he goes unseen
Drifting along the city streets
Leaving no trace of a presence
A gift               a curse

Stealthily               a predator among prey
Taking what he needs
Food, water, money,
A gift                     a curse

Alone                    he goes unseen
In a group of people, no trace of his presence
Left to drift through the streets
A curse

Lonely

perfect for one another

you were the flame to my candle

we danced gently with one another

we gave each other life

until the very moment we died

Love is rolling the dice and knowing you’ll always have double sixes, hitting the jackpot of every slot machine, always having an ace, even when you don’t have sleeves.

Love is not watching the seconds tick by but wondering where the hours have gone, when you watch the sunset and rise because unlike the day our love cannot end

Love is the sun, creating life, warmth, comfort and safety.
Love is music, the sweetest melody that never leaves your mind.
Love is the blissful fragrance of sea air, a calmness that can rage with passion.

Love is waking up in the morning and feeling the size of the smile on my face, knowing I’m with you.
Love is knowing the future is bright.

Love is internal – the beating of our hearts, the dilation of our pupils.
Love is external – the simple act of holding hands, the precious fragility of two lips connecting.
Love is Eternal – For I shall love you forever and always

Words create worlds,
Happiness, laughter, pain and suffering,
Love and Loss.

Language leads to life

There was a time
That could have been ours
Yet like the sand in the hourglass
We let it slip     away

It may have been nothing
A problem
A mistake
Our undoing
Now to me you mean everything
And I mean nothing

We can’t control the clock’s hands
I can’t bring back those hours
And now I wait
Hoping somehow, one day
I will be yours

— The End —
