These days
I don’t feel like writing
What I feel about
The feeling itself escapes my thoughts
But life has its say, makes you sway
In every way
Sometimes
It’s more than the sun and twinkling stars
And pearly moon’s glow  
Beyond the words the words have other places to go

Behind the palm trees
In the vast, rust coloured sky
Sets the orange sun

The trapeze artist
Lithe and limber
Does aerial somersaults

At a height
Holds no fear
Swings in the air

Hands held
In ropes of hope
Bar to bar
Poles apart
They rise, not afraid of the fall

Colours in the sky
Blend into the blue

Golden yellow
The mellow sun

Bids adieu
Slides to the west

Slender and tall
The shadows fall

Sudden rains
A little downpour

Shiny wet
The platform gets

Daily
Life goes on

Moments to moments
Faces change

It’s a journey
Destinations await

The trajectory of truth
Linear or curved the path
Dependent on time
A geometric ride
Through theories and theorems
Divide
Add and Subtract to curtail the free ends
Velocity and speed
Gravitational pull
Home bound
Stands test of time
A proof

Hollow silhouette
Mysterious, shines the orb
Enchanted strands lit

Limited by the limitless
Shouldn’t be limiting at all
Limited by limitations
Can be limiting at times
Upgrading the limitations
Can downsize a good chance
A limitation lost
To the limitless possibilities
Limitless one can be

H is combustible
No colour, it owns
O helps combustion
Yet we inhale and breathe in
Together H and O combine  
To make a pure compound
None of us can live without
Individually
Properties they posses
Fiery, to say the least
Together they douse
Put fires under leash

Baby waves
Pretty
Holding hands with every molecule of their little hearts
Bubbling, gushing towards the shore
Mighty mama waves roar
Rush, with a lightning speed
And tuck in safe, the baby waves
Before they break onto the shore
Gurgling receding, pleading
Mama no Mama no
Mama let me go
No baby no
No, not yet
Alone
To the shore

Under the shade of the banyan tree
And green cascading leaves
Lay shoes and backpacks on the ground
Bicycle handles curled to the left
Parked by the lake
On the side stand
There were sounds of laughter and music
On the other side
Quiet the water in the lake

Leave them be
Headphones on
Cancelling sounds
Yours and theirs
Equalisers on
Fine tuned within
Listen to the song
And truly belong

Under the blue cloudless sky
White doves and pigeons
Flap wings and fly

Heritage domes, rustic brown
Stand clear of dust and sand
Glorious, withstanding every storm

Motor boats painted blue and green
Sharp the curvature, folded hands
Bow to the rising waters in the sea

Stillness of the silence
Clearly felt in the sound of the flapping wings
Broken leg, the bird could fly once

Brilliance of liquid gold
Speckled with glitter and stars
Arresting the celestial plafond
A touch of Neanderthal aesthetics
Modern and ancient air
Fusing under the beauteous sky

Dazzled by the sun
The sea sparkles and smiles
And gently lifts a wave to its friend
The sun moves on westward
Leaving a little shade behind
The sea gives out a sigh
Stays still eastward bound
The passing breeze
Tickles mischievously
And the sea smiles again
Ripples and waves
The birds make a faint shadow above
And dive deep to pick a fish
Before they retreat for the evening
Unmoved the sea waves
And prepares to welcome the moon

His Slender tender shoulders
Shoulder the responsibility of his family
Vibrant orange cartoon print shirt
A mere reminder of his childhood
The jute sheet he owns
A spread of colours and shapes
Of many vegetables
He sells every morning
To add to the earnings
He has learned the trade young
Captivating, his innocence

Oblivious notes
The worm scrawls on the wet floor
Early bird savours

What you see
What you know
In between
what you take
What you give
Living with the residue

The mirror and the window
Side by side
One reflected the possible truth inside
Other looked at the possible possibilities outside

Mountain mist swirls up and curls in the air
With White puffy clouds as in Noddy’s toy town
Gold and green leaves upon the conical trees
Densely grew into the forest wild
Layers of withering leaves on the forest floor
Soon faded down into the earth, brown
Scenes change as seasons do
But the mountains blue
Stood ever so tall, as they should

Old and naive me

Soon to be a memory

Rebel to relive

Ocean spirits undulate

The sunset sky
Wore lovely colours
Pale blue with streaks of white
A trace of pink
Skipping violets and reds
Embracing the faint peach
A rainbow somewhere arched
The other side adorned
Pastels and soft golden yellow
Changing hues
To twinkling twilight blue

There are reasons to smile
In gratitude for all the good times
Wrapped away in a warm blanket
Of summertime

Sweet sunshine of nostalgia streams
Through the growing years of memories
Unpacked and dusted through masks
The antiques got a golden makeover
Polished and restored to their prime

Ash from the sacred fire rose
Sandalwood incense lit close
Fragrance of the past lingers

Hopes renewed and happiness felt

River rowers sail
Rafters raft in the rapids

The breeze made an impression through the night
That of a warrior back from a fight

And dark clouds and rain together drive away the sun in pain

No loss no gain

Free under the blue sky
Stood strong in all weather
Weathering every storm
Gave shelter and provided for many
Even laid its life in the end
In death it became the throne to the ones
Who sought and asked for its kingdom to be owned
With every inch of its being
Selfless it stood strong

The mind is infinite
The core of our inner being
The world it shows
Admirable and to truly believe
Like nobody knows
Need not know
Connected and righteous in its own rights
For the world to believe in you
The truth of being true to self

As the wild & wide ocean believes in self

Today my mind drifts to a place
Familiar and mysterious the ocean breeze
Gushing and rippling with happiness
The waves curl and crest
On the sandy shore quietly rest
Are they free, free enough to not wave
Or are they truly bound
To the shore and the sea
Like a wild song, bound by lyrics
And the rhythmic beats

A woman, she is
Runs her own boutique
Arts and artefacts
She sources from the farthest and deepest parts of the country
Lost in the urban lands
Antique
Precious eyes
She has a penchant for the lost treasures
Restores and redecorates
In her boutique
A life
Dedicated to her only son
Young, at nine
Detected with the dreaded ‘C’
He lived his life
With all the love
Showered by his doting parents
A young boy, with a talent for paper craft
Made unusually beautiful flowers and quilled earrings
Never ever did the pain
Show on his face
Gifted child, knew his time here
Was short
Taken away at sixteen
Made most of it
A happy child
Early, one morning
He left this world
At peace, in his sleep
She lives on
The mother of the child
Finding lost treasures
From the deepest parts

In their paper skin
Under the burning sun
Smile the paper flowers
In bracts, pink and white
purple or orange
Colourful red,
never fade or bleed
Evergreen in their woody homes
They fly with the wind
In their paper skin

Iridescent wings, the butterfly sings
Purple sunbird, makes round trips to the marigolds, and flutters by the hibiscus
In moments of flight and being still
The wings sing a symphony mid air
A pattern of life and flight
As the eagle appears in the sky

May I have the strength to pray for the wellness of all
And pray, that all the prayers be heard
Even if there are no prayers, the sufferings of all be gone
And be cured and healed
May we have the pleasure to meet and greet
May we all share the shores of sunshine
And dip our feet in the calm sea waves
And not be bothered about any other wave
May we all, be equal in the brand new day
and love be the binding force
Care and kindness, care for no race
May the march to peace, in every step be pieced together, spanned in time
Through the pace of life
Paved for the future infant steps
And not a soul be burdened by fears
Mortally aware
Such a day, for I truly pray
For one and all

When the day is done

And the thoughts settle
In the quiet of the night
The thoughts find a resting place
Picking up the peculiar
And particular moments
The day had
When it had just begun
Rolling out the perfect hours
And those
Wasted, like an amateur
Trying to find the best time
Losing out
Swears by the alarm
At leisure
Counts the seconds and every minute
To cherish
Through the day
Together
The hands only met twice
Rest of the time, stretched wide
Apart
Running around in circles
Shrugging shoulders at ten past ten
The clock says
What is done is done

These days
There are many who are going through pain
Uncertainty has caught us by the neck  again
The virus lurks, has been on a house hunting spree
Causing distress
It’s been here for a while, creating stories of its own in every home
After a brief pause, back to bringing our lives to a pause, if not standstill
The world its classroom
Sending out individual and group invites
Nudging us to face it, brace it
Trying to teach some life skills
Will it be able to create a new world
A better one
We’ll see
Hopeful with prayers on lips
This time we are better equipped
Empowering each other with help and support
To heal

The sky looks great
When the sun is up
And the clouds are late
Spilling bright threads
Doing crochet patterns along the vast blue
Slowly, curling back into a ball of white
Swathing the sun
In rose gold silks

Long lost road
To the old fire station
With a beautiful archway
The fire engines
In bright red
Never knew rest
A drill or two, a day
Fitness parade
For all, to learn to save

No sirens
No calls to attend
The bells ring no more
Snorkels saving lives
Salvaged many a blaze
All gone
Peacefully it retires

Amidst old walls

Brilliance of the light

In chiseled geometric stars
