you told me to

                   on
and the farther i get
from your light
        the worse
i feel, love.

My mother always used to tell me
that I could read anyone.
"Give them an hour with you", she'd laugh,
"and you'd just know."
Then I met you
and it seems that your book is
written a language that I just don't understand.
This illiteracy is driving me mad
and I know I would spend years just to
decipher one page.

You, little one, brought so much joy,
You were more than a beautiful toy.
You turned sadness into laughter,
You just made our lives brighter.

Maybe for some, you were nothing.
But, hey!  For me, you were a darling.
I loved the way you looked at me,
It seemed like I am your best buddy.

Oh what a jolly pet you were to us!
But now you are gone, turning into dust.
I hated the way you suffered,
I was hoping your days weren't numbered.

Little one, you will surely be remembered.
I will treasure the love you offered.
And though it was a painful goodbye,
you still left me a look with a lullaby.
This poem is dedicated to my puppy who just passed away.
you told me i couldn't be anything
so i pulled up the burnt ashes
reviving my broken bones
and turned myself into something
you would want.

This is one of the first little snippets I wrote when I started writing poetry instead of just songs and short stories and every time I read this part it reminds me of what I wrote it about so clearly. Just wanted to post this because I've been uninspired lately and I'm working on a current project that will be out this year.
You shouldn't have made me fall in love with you
I have morphed you into words

You are the explanation for why 'lies' rhymes with eyes
because all i can see now
are not only lies in your eyes,
but in your mouth
and your heart
even at the tips of your fingers

Like your nose,
somehow I made that look like soon
Because even your nose warned me about
how soon you would break my heart
and leave me

Like your ear,
I made that look like hear,
because you heard what I said, but you never could quite listen

Like your shoulder,
should-er
hold-er
You should have hold me

Like your tongue,
Not only did it so much damage,
You left me tongue-tied

Like your heart,
I made that look like hurt.
because that is what I am.
I am hurt and broken.

I approach,
And carve a "Hello"
Out of my marble voice.
Before an exchange is made past introduction,
I stand there,
Paralyzed.

Plunging inward,
Hands crawling through the dark,
Gliding between muscle and nerve,
***** and blood,
Wrapped between and under
A bouquet of bone,
Traveling the tunnels behind my chest,
Spiraling humbly in and out of every rib
In the shape of the Special Beam.

Nesting,
Coddled in a diaphragm home,
My voice rocking back and forth
With a death grip on its shins,
Knees under chin,
Mumbling grievances of social disorder.

Courage dilutes in exhales,
Each breath shorter than the last,
Only enough brave in veins to utter
"Nevermind",
As I turn and walk away.
Its about looking for my voice, and failing.
Poetry is like gusts of fresh air
Harbinger of the soul’s catharsis
Flowing emotions through the pen
Concealed pain written across the pages
Healing the pain which was long buried
