When we sleep
I imagine that we go to the same place
I picture you
Your tattoos and red wine stained cheeks
You smell like ice cream and you taste like it too
Everything that you love
Looks like me
It’s so real sometimes that when I reach out for you
I can feel you reaching back
In my dreams you say everything that I want to hear
And you mean it

our lips will never meet
nor our fingers intertwine
and so bless my dreams
for indulging what's not mine

I thought if I could swallow the stars
I’d be as beautiful as the evening sky
I tried one night    with fireflies
They burned my throat
Their legs striking at soft flesh
But my skin did not glow
No moon crawled from my eye sockets
I was left with corpses in my stomach
I soon learned I would only ever be
A cemetery

Heavy is how I feel today
But today is everyday
Tea is of no help to me
And neither is a cup of coffee
Unfinished lines written all over
The screeches of a few more
Will I leave this too, undone?
Leaving the ashes in the burn

Life stares as death blares
And I make my truce
With the empty words,
Empty letters, must and should's

While all I want is to
Walk with the wind
To the gulls and the sun
Teasing the speckles on the crescent
Does that make me a traitor
To not love just one?

Creases and folds
On the lottery tickets
That's ought to make dozens
Till then, I'll just hide
Like a needle in the hay
And watch the world die in rue
And sad rains.

i spend my days
pouring myself into the cups of others

only to find that
when it’s time for myself
to take a sip

all that’s left
in my cup
is the remainder of a girl
who gave too much
self care is extremely important. most days I fight my depression by putting smiles onto others faces, but forgetting about my once bright smile.

I used to read your poems
but lately you don't write
you're silent and aloof
you know that isn't right.
You can't close a door once opened
you can't abolish all your dreams
you're a poet of the heart
mustn't fall apart at the seams.
Say what you can in words
they speak the message true
spoken from the heart
the poems will see you through.
A hermit's not your style
a recluse, you are not
never give up writing
of things that you've been taught.
I used to read your poems
I'd read them once again
if you would send them out
(this one's from a poet friend)

I miss the times,
when you made
me laugh

I miss the times
when you made
my heart beat fast

I miss the times
when you craved
the touch of mine

Those times we
left behind
Please lets figure out
what we are now

mostly i think about
all the different ways
i could undress your mind
every feeling laid out on the table
words leave your mouth
and land in mine
i watch as your lips curl
while your eyes blink
wrapping me up
in colours reflecting you
even in my dreams
i'm always running back
to you.
