listen to the rushes,
they wait for you above.
listen to the rushes,
the wind blows with no love.

listen to the reeds, dear,
for they have known your pain.
listen to the reeds, dear,
and be yourself again.

listen to the leaves now,
and forget how to live.
listen to the leaves now,
and remember you can give.

listen to the grass blades,
that tell you not to feel.
listen to the grass blades,
that make your life unreal.

and listen to the waves, child,
that call you from the deep.
listen to the waves, child,
and meet your endless sleep.
i'm liking my plant imagery lately.

if petals droop too far
without sustenance
what harm will slicing them do
if it brings back their shine later?

if the daisies told you to make your own decisions,
would you?
if the rosebuds asked politely for you to be yourself,
would you?
if the hydrangea bush pled for you to think your own thoughts,
would you?

i am lost in a myriad
of tangled, tangled
forsythia;
for shame,
you told me not to write strong sentiment,
that my drafts were best left in the drawer.
scared am I of that thorny vise,
but they're not drafts anymore.

i can claim to know my flowerbed
and the lives left on the shelf
but to water them, says my lost head
would destroy my vacant self

I have a golden locket,
That hangs around my neck,
It's heavy as weighted stone,
And I'm a nervous wreck.
I keep it with me through each day,
And through the passing cold,
I keep it close, next to my heart,
Although it has grown old.
I have this ****** and rusted locket,
Filled with ash and pain,
I don't know why I wear it still,
Don't ask me to explain.

little game

little people with big mouths and shriveled hearts
filled with excuses and pardons beneficial to themselves
pretending that the little game is just that: a game

forgetting about feelings and filled with fallacies
pieces are placed in their perfect position
strung along like stupid, sorrowful simpletons

experience is not something that can be fooled
anger is not something to be played with
apathy is something to fear

love is  patient and kind
love is also obstinate and persistent
it will not be misused or mistreated

true love is not an elementary concept
small minds simply cannot understand
naturally cling to games that only give empty satisfaction

Then leave.* Her voice lilted like light on snow, the snow that was fast to fade.
I... My heart beat faster, faster, faster still, and I closed my eyes.
I want. I need. But I....I can't.
Her eyelids fluttered. *Well, as long as you're here...

I guess I should just make it completely clear
I'm not expecting much

I'm just like that at this point
give me physicality
and I'll be fine

Not that I'm using you, I'm down for the romance
I'm just sick
of being tired

Let the flowers crown your crown
with life, leeway, and lust

Let the blossoms crowd your crowd
in your mind, marked and mine

Let the starlight head your head
from dye, disaster, and divinity

Let the acetone guard your heart
because when it comes to breaking patterns
rhymes
and constancy
you seem to be
holy
