You pledged your affections to me that day
As you snuggled up to me.
And nearly everyday since,
You'd sung me to sleep.
Your strength was the kind,
People like me couldn't be afraid of.
Because I knew, you'd use your might only to protect me.

You fell in love with me before I did
And I couldn't wait to fall for you soon after -
That's how lovable you were.
That's how worthy of being loved you made me feel.
I think of that day; and today, and realise that
You've been the most loving
And the most fearsome person I have loved.
I wonder, how can someone personify
Both love & reckless anger at the same time?
Is it a twisted version of your love for me I see,
When you turn into the control freak that you do?

You say that some birds cannot be caged,
Their feathers are too bright.
You nearly caged the very bird you had freed
In many ways with your love.

And I am the bird who doesn't want to
Fly away from what had become a cage for her
Now that the door is open,
Because she'd fallen in love with her captor
Way before she knew she'd be terrified of him some day.
The zeal of God's Love for our hearts and souls
    cannot be matched or conquered by human willpower;
It can only be rejected by our cursed nature.
Not exactly a poem, more of a meditation on our relationship with divinity.
This fleeting second
Vanishes in your eyes
Like a shooting star
Across the night's sky
May this night not end
Not ever, my love
For the morning will bring
More seconds and
The night will bring
More stars
But I won't have you

Two cents anyone? I've got two cents here for sale.
I'll sell you two cents for one cent,
now have we got a deal?

If that's not enough, then you can have them for free.
They've just been burning a hole in my pocket, no but really.

Still you're not interested? Well you drive a hard bargain.
I'll pay you to take them, now that's what I'm offerin'.

Two bucks and two cents, that makes $2.02.
Just listen to me for a second,
hey now just won't you?
Oh no, he's trying to talk to us. Run.

You walk into my mind
You take over
Its beautiful for a moment
And then you leave
And then its torture
Sitting here in my living room
It's early
Kids slumbering in their beds
Wife's at work and dogs are at rest

I've got my coffee and my phone
The television is on, but muted
Other than the din of the freeway
And the gurgling from the coffee ***,
It would be completely quiet,
Except for my thoughts

Yes!
They're a freight train
Steaming
Streaming
Barreling down some unseen track in my mind

Sometimes they come to a crashing holt
When the house settles or a dog yawns
But then they start right back up
Without so much as a warning

They switch tracks and rewind
Second guess
And remind me of something I forgot
They're loud and obnoxious
They're unruly and cacophonous

They slow down
They speed up
Shifting
Swirling
Swiftly and softly moving through me
And then spilling out of me
Out of my mouth into the air
Or out of my fingers onto a screen

Sometimes I catch them before anyone sees
Sometimes I let them hang out for all to see
Sometimes I wish I could take them back
Cast them back into the dark pit they came from, but I rarely do

It's quiet in my living room...but it's never quite silent.

Words will mean little
If they're dead on arrival.
Live within your words.

Haiku #6
If truth be told
I long for her wretched soul
If truth be told I tire of my own
I thirst for the moistness between her hips
I envy the lips of the ones she's kissed
If truth be told
She'll never know
