You have
without knowing
reached inside
and
touched my soul
awakening it
with urgent
pulsing
like an electrical
surge

I yearn to
connect
with you
completing
the circuit

My soul seeks
yours
for a rendezvous

to mingle
in an ethereal
embrace

to share
a repast
in the soft candlelight
of awareness
and
the sweet scent
of the roses
of incorporeal
passion

filling plates
with
the words
and
cadence

wine glasses
with
the music

of poetry

You speak
the language
of my soul

whose words are
garden
          flowers
                     unfolding
                               pathways

sojourn
                   reflection
                              struggles
                                           life

whose syntax
is poetry
and
song

You
more than most
have taught me
to heed
and
understand
the language

to recognize
the melody

and

to dance

its rhythm
This was written some years ago upon discovering a wonderful poet, one of my favorites, Stanley Kunitz, who was also an avid gardener. I think he was in his 90's at the time. I heard him reading a poem on NPR and I was "smitten".  I bought several of his books of poetry. The one I love best has a lot of pictures of him in his late years still working in his garden.  He died in 2006, just two months short of his 101st birthday.  He's a beautiful soul. You can see it in his face, in his garden and in his poetry!

Word
With time, all wounds heal, and lesser the pain we feel
The bleeding heart stops, but not to beat, yet!
We live on;
and we live long after…
Some of us with only the scarred hearts reminding us of the past
Never to forget the memories of you, until the last breath
Only then,
when time is called and the rest of the body gets cold

Only then, may we forget

We were two innocent beautiful souls
Unknowingly destined to fall in love
Fate would not have it
An abomination,
Nature would not have us
Rejected were the wishes of our hearts
Prohibited were the passions within us,
Forbidden like the apple of Eden,
and Our sin denied us a moment in heaven
We are sown from the same fabric. You and i

Standing together arm in arm yet worlds apart

Our minds connected by invincible wire
You dream of I, and I of you
You are a beautiful sight I can never forget
I carry the memory of you on me like a tattoo of a taboo
Ashamed I cover my pride
Your image imprint inside my eyelids,

Yes I do, it’s hard to think
But I see you every time I blink
She thinks that she is only silver.
Second place, forever and again.
But this girl ... she is so, so much more.
She is my dear, dearest friend.

Her soul, while brighter than the sun,
is tortured by confusion and things in her past ...
lofty goals that would thwart even the toughest
and a lifestyle going so fast.

Courageous ... and meek.
A warrior ... and a flower ... all at the same time.
Legions of followers, those who look up ... never to see,
the little girl who roams in her mind.

She will get were she is aiming ...
my heart believes in her so.
She is strong, stubborn ... so very brave,
and this child inside her grows.

Now distant, I'll still watch her life
unfold

from this abyss, for reasons that may forever remain
untold.

She is far more valuable than any silver, precious gems ...
yes, even gold.

No object d'art or more costly antiquity ...
has ever,
ever been sold.

I only wish that I could have somehow ...
somehow
made her see ...
that as my friend ... she was so, so much more ...
than merely silver to me.
What can ya do ... What can ya say ... when someone just doesn't "get it"?
Step 1: Get out of bed
Step 2: Look in the mirror
Step 3: Practice your smile
Step 4: Eyedrops to hide the red eyes
Step 5: Conceal the dark circles
Step 6: Breathe
The curtains are almost up
Step 7: Lock down the pain
Step 8: Ignore the weight on your chest
Step 9: Silence the screams inside of your mind
Step 10: Choke down the sobs
Step 11: Ignore the stinging in your eyes
Step 12: Swallow past the tightness in your throat
You’ve put on this show a million times
Step 13: Don’t let them see
Times up. Curtains up. Camera rolling
You know how when you’re not ok but you try so hard to pretend you’re ok that it becomes a ritual
I walk in your room
But you are not there
A coldness a chill fill the air
It's already been a month since you left
It only feels like last week
I walk around this big house of yours
Lonely because I have with noone to speak
I bet you didn't think I'd miss you
I bet you didn't think I'd cry
But I cry and miss you everyday I wasn't ready to say goodbye
I'm trying to be strong for Benjamin's sake
But I feel like I'm crumbling to bits
Why did God have to take you from us?
It's tearing us to strips
I love you mum
With all my heart
And wish we never had to part.

My mum passed from cancer a month ago.
I miss her so very much
I know why the caged bird sings.

It's not because his song
is as vibrant
as his feathers, that he plucks away
each day because he doesn't
feel beautiful.

It's not because of the majesty
that exist in the freedom
of being able to spread his wings
though he knows
he'll never rise to the occasion.

He sings because he believes
that this cage
was made for a king
because he has never tasted
freedom with a side order of skies.

He's never flown past the sun
on a cool morning
or hung with the moon
on a warm night.

He's only ever known
the comfort of a prison
that his thoughts have
become accustomed
to calling home.

He would never venture
beyond the "welcome" mat
because what's beyond the threshold
holds no promise
the way these bars and metal locks do.

He sings because he knows
that no one is listening
so if he makes a mistake
he doesn't have to live with the regret
or embarrassment of knowing that he missed his note.

The caged bird
never believes that he's caged
because behind these walls
he's safe
and he prefers it this way.

I know why the caged bird sings.
A twist on a title by one of my favorite authors...

Feeling sad
Discouraged
Need someone
To console me
To hold me
To envelope me
In warmth
To handle me
With care
And love
To tell me they'll be there
Always
When I need a backbone
A support system
When I feel fragile
Broken
Someone to tell me
"YOU'RE FORGIVEN"
When the weight
Weighs me down
When I've been
Knocked down to the ground
Need someone
To hold me and say
"EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY"
Someone to remind me
That where life strives
Hope lives
That where there is darkness
Light can be conceived
That in a world filled with greed
There are still people that give
Selflessly
That love relentlessly
I need to be surrounded
By these people
I need to be saved
From this hole
I dug for myself
I need a new perspective
And a fresh start.
Thanks for reading.

Polar
I hear the rhythmic clapping
And feel the pounding of feet on the ground
As dust swirls and dances around
While I sit facing the sun
In all her divine beauty.
Encased in the wood of the red gum tree,
I am at peace.
Burnum carves my totem outside
Surrounded by holy men,
Loved ones and ancestors.
This is my signifier and protection.
I am Miki the moon
Recently returned to my tribe
Heeding the call of the spirits.
My people mourn deeply
But know I will come again
To be at one with them,
First I must commune with the great creator
Rainbow spirit of the sky
For now is the time for dreaming.
Thank you everyone for the likes/ loves and comments, you made my day special!! :0)
