reading your poems

this website provides a lovely service
giving the unspoken a megaphone
(even though it's set to one)

many of you are young
thoughts about lost love
about who's who to you

it doesn't get easier, but
at least you can write here
feel safe, loved, famous

like the lust you lost
these pages will fade
a burning candle in a sea
of misplaced memories

so here you are
reading my poem
didn't have to
but did
Through the hectic buzz,
a moment of calm breezes by;
a teen utterly possessed with fatigue.

It was then that demons surface;
merely suppressed,
now relishing its reign once again.
summer nights, outdoor bar fights, the smell of alcohol on men's breaths
cigarette fumes from her dolly friends and the smell of leather in her hands
***** converse and scraped knees
tired eyes and gentle caressing
tired, tired little girl
getting lost within a big world-.

tangled in white silk sheets, listening to his records
while he fixes them a drink
hair smelling of perfume, her body soft as satin
and the pillows like beautiful pastel clouds
silent shifting and awkward positioning, don't touch her or get too close.
tired, tired little girl
getting lost within a big world.

*******, auburn hair, scarlet lips, soft sighs
brushing her hair over 100 times
little girl, little girl, where are you going?
painted red lips and your pale limbs showing
hair up in braids and your legs lovely but barley clothed yet
tired, tired little girl
return to sleep
don't get lost within this big world.

i never asked you
to start a war
for me
but you could
at least
be my shield
when my walls
come crashing down
go
ahead.
shimmy along.
i'll lace
up
my chucks
and
watch you
*******
dance
while I
walk
back into
the nothing
from
which
I
came.

You asked me once,
“Will you write about me
if I break your heart one day?”

*I thought you were joking.
