Meera
you inhale tragedies
and exhale poetry
From where do you get your perseverance?
Heaven rained on me,
I breathed in the petrichor,
Bathed in the downpour.
I have sinned,
So destroy me,
With your rain.
she's a growing sunflower
what will you bring?
fire or water

on bad days,
i'm found in my backyard kicking dandelions.
on good days,
i feel like i can put them back together again.

Exquisite, exotic flower
To ever grow between
Overlooked sidewalk cement
And I adore you.

I wonder when the rest will see.

Emily
i’m the
type of person
to wake in the
middle of the
night
just to
jot down a good
story idea and then
not be able to
sleep
as the story

backs of my
closed eyelids.

And neither was your thought.
Give it tongue, give it volume, give it song.
Give it your lips and your teeth.
This is what you are to the world.
This is your truth, and your way.
There is nothing more precious than this.
Bite hard, never let go.
Published a few years ago as part of poetry collection for my university Womyns Centre. Thought it became relevant again.
The most beautiful face
is the happy one
No matter what the years
