These are some
Senryu poems about friendships.
Who knows us better?

Friends are family
by invitation - accepted
gifts to each other.

We don't care what
your specific gender is
we're calling you dude.

I love to hang out
with people who make me forget
to check on my phone.

We all have a friend
who thinks of everything
in a ***** way.
friends are the BEST

looking up at all the stars
i hope for a better tomorrow
thinking through the late night
my mind and heart know.
our first take
was so long ago
but as I leave the sun city
its for the best that I let it all go.
like most, I associate songs with people, memories, etc. and unfortunately these titles have the most baggage.

the temples built of gold, silks finely spun,
a song of palaces in babylon,
where mede's daughter pined beneath the sun,
for mountain streams and hills to walk upon.
before the persians let the city fall,
great babylon held asia to the east,
the hanging gardens near the mighty wall,
their history told by an ancient priest.
if herodotus added to his tale,
he lent to grandeur with a poet's tongue,
a vision by euphrate's winding vale,
the river flowing where his story sung.
nebuchadnezzar built to please his queen,
to bring her trees and vines of verdant green.

amytis - daughter of king medes.
king nebuchadnezzar 2nd - built the gardens
herodotus - greek historian from ionia.

3 days
until I'm on the road
back to you.
I come
carrying some hope
that "we" are not overdue.
I begin
to remember all
of what we used to do.
the day
finally comes to leave so
I set to depart in a few.
the road
induces me to play
Suncity, a go-to.
passing lanes
under a tangerine sky
wishing you could see it too.
I begin
to notice glimmering
lights out of the blue.
stepping out
little did my heart know
what it would go through.
a feeling
helpless against heartbreak
please, maybe we can start anew...
this does not sound like closure

the night i let my heart play its course
i was curious
the night with no labels
i was comfortable
the night we celebrated you
i was content
the night you were knocked out
i was chilling
the night where we almost
i was complicated
none of it should have happened
this night restarted a toxic cycle

A lasting kiss
spoils the poison apple

A smile of obligation
and it's off to the chapel

A tale of sexes and sevens
around the campfire

Years of bitter indifference
collapse in on the walls
of desire

Happily ever after
Is a magical kingdom crime

Abiding commitment
On the other hand
Is an attainable climb

when we were children,
unimpressionable
innocent,
happy children,
the nature of a liar
were ill-behaved,
put to the corner
with their pants on fire.

when we were teens,
social lives
romance?
it struggles to
survive
an educational
stress in between
to lie was a sign
of betrayal and blight
one you could detect
from mere sight and reflect.
it was a feeling
a presence
that you avoided
for fear of getting hurt.
it was a waste of time.

when we grow older,
and the jar of cynicism
freezes colder
our definitions change
like leaves in the fall
for the upcoming winter's
frosty display
liars are what bring the bad
days.
it would never release
a more pungent beast
to see them lie to your face
on something that didn’t need to be said.
As adults
we learn to value honesty
Not as the cliched policy
But as a form of establishing communication
and trust in some way.
We feel like fools
when we’re used
abused
mistreated little tools
missing the detection
of a well-coifed liar.
Whether the excuse be
naivety or hopeless desire
Personally I’d rather die
Than to be caught
Or distraught
From something so simple
So easy
As a white lie.
