i was so sure i was better
but then you came back
around and you knocked
the air out of my lungs
with every little kiss and
every random embrace
you built me up and tore
me back down again i
was hoping you would
say "just kidding" and
come over out of nowhere
like you always did but
i know you don't care so
much anymore but god
i still do and i'm so sorry
Those eyes
Those bewitching eyes
Enamor me no end

Aqua cool
They tug at my soul
In their depth I blend

Besotted by them, I am
They leave me in a jam
My emotions I can’t mend

Crimson is her hue
The eyes, aqua blue
I guess that’s the trend

If I confuse you
You should see her too
You will comprehend

If I had eyes like those
You too would drift from prose
As I did for this Twitter friend

If I were another man
I’d have a different plan
To be forever content!

Deep within me
lay a poem of the sea
from a long while ago;

where air is fresh
but blusters wildly
when southerlies blow,

slick and slimy
mud between each toe-
mangrove's brackish home.

Whitecaps dance
in the open channel
close to where corals grow.

But further than fond distance
of childhood recollection,
where starfish-lined parades
demanded retrospection:

Gone are those carefree days
along with sands, white as snow;
somewhere deep within me
lay a coastal tale of long ago.
If you enjoyed 'song of the stars' then thus poem is a must read too!
hold your head up high
like a fightin' rooster
**** your walk like you used to

talk and squawk
screech and yell
scratch holes in the earth
fight like hell

rip through the rain
ride on the wind
run fast and firm and free again

cry out loud at the break of dawn
you can make the sun your own
send it on up and roll it around

make it smile
make the sun smile
and light your eyes
and paint your feathers

get your head up high
like a fightin' rooster
let us stand together
never mind the weather
blood is forever

She bound my soul in the frozen tundra
A thousand years I lay waste
My ship and crew had long since perished
My guardian angel without a trace

Frostbitten bitter arctic memories
Flee the howling changing wind
As she cast eyes on the nearest star
To steal the fire held within

Days of our youth freeze then crumble
Innocence fading shortly dies
Remainders of our icy palace
And a heart deceived in frozen lies

I pity her now as my soul thaws
To a world where warmth is in season
Yet there’s always a shiver when I remember
How quickly love changed to treason
The brighter the light
The darker the shadow
Upon my rusty cage
A vindictive past rattles

Come out, come out
And sell us your soul
The one we condemned
All those years ago

Did you think it was over
Did you think we were through
Did you think you could escape
The inhumane zoo...
