August burned quickly, incipient nostalgia
prematurely vanished, mellow and gentle
sea stone on the tiled table, cedar plank
with fish, sunset through the eye-slit window

thigh high in life and riding wherever life
takes me like a hopeless romantic
shout out to ang for lighting literally every poem of mine up

I have seen the lines in the sand.
Perhaps you understand.

God in the machine, weeping,
Perhaps you understand.

A furrowed brow upon the back of my hand,
Perhaps you understand.

A final hasty sigh, unto the void creeping.
Perhaps you understand.

Moon-lit slits through ivory curtains,
Windows kept ajar for creeping secrets,
The sound of humming busy bugs.
Beds kept warm through unconscious bodies,
This was what summer was about.
Silly whispers of unkempt persons,
Clothes of disarray,
Tangled limbs and kisses of good mornings,
Time seemingly kept at bay.
Memories never made so none were lost,
Places never visited so never seen,
People of uncharted territory so they were never missed.
Fingers roaming unwanted strangers in the dark,
More silly whispers about a forgotten tomorrow,
No more good morning kisses of today.
I can't seem to sleep during these hauntingly sweet nights.
You're the oil in my engine.
The flow to my rhythm.
The foundation of my building,
The one that keeps me from falling.

You're the helium in my balloon,
The fire to my Zeppelin.
Without you, my shape can't be sustained.
You're the medicine to my pain.
In my heart, your love is forever ingrained.

You're the light to my darkness,
Brightening up my day with your every/very presence.
You are the spark, the inspiration.
With you in my life, there are no limitations.

You're the rain to my seeds,
The one that makes them grow.
Always coming in calm drizzles.
Never a storm, always the perfect dose.

You are the air that I breathe.
The oxygen, the one that keeps my fire blazing.
You are my everything.
If I have you, I have no need of anything.
bodies familiar in the hues
of a dying day
in the shadows, in the shade
blacks and grays,
indigos and jades

whispers muted in the last
gasps of light
our language,
words knit into the night
our vision, monochromatic --
your breaths,
the moon,
my static

when they told me:
Guard your spirit
i laughed, frilly manner
listless with decision
a water lily bobbing;
eager to cut my anchor and drift
Sinking
Sinking
drifting into deep

depth swallows my yellow.
