you
somehow you are in my lucid dreams
& i'm left wanting more sleep
a constant fear of rejection and hurt
even in my dreams
i wish you'd understand
cause you're never really who you are until you're all alone

Before I leave the corridor
I note the number on your door
Then perform my escape
Knowing it’s all for the rescue.
If I return it will be
To hear the music of the lover
To dance to one song
Then leave before it’s over.
I don’t want to brood
About what it was.
That was the time
I forgot how to work
And in the mornings
I’d make promises
We both knew would
come to nothing.
I didn’t ask though.
Except I did
And you excused
My codate mess
When you tripped over
The remnants
That you forged.
The voices told me to
Shake you off
Like the cluttering monsters.
But I run from them too.
You never know.
Next time
I might dance all
The way to the end.

Why did you reject me?
Will you ever accept me?
You knew I was hurting,
But I didn't stop burning
Myself out keeping you happy.

You left me on my own,
Abandoned at home.
I shared so many signs,
But you were resigned
To celebrate my stoic demeanor.

You knew me only in part,
As I buried my heart,
And walled off my mind
So you'd never find
Out I was an abomination.

Now that I am free--
At last wholly me,
You abandon me again,
Say I'm living in sin,
And shut out the chance to know me.
Taking my leave, I'll never return
Laugh if you wish, despair or mourn
Either if fine and either is moot
I've broken the rules and dug out my roots
My life was determined in absentee
I'm trashing your world now, so that you see
How dangerous it was to mishandle the Fire
My abused wild mind is like a live wire
Planning a ****** of everything known
Lost seeds of patience you'd carefully sown
Hijacking the towers of social abuse
It went on for centuries as a delayed fuse
I'm taking my leave now,
I've nowhere to go –
But anywhere's better
Than this line toe to toe
you can't escape society. nice to try sometimes tho

there was this boy who
got ****** at my friend
because she rejected him.

he called her ugly,
and we burst out laughing

because two minutes ago,
when he was flirting with her,
he didn’t think she was ugly.
two minutes ago, he called her hot.

he didn’t call her ugly until
she used the word “no.”

he stormed off after a few
more ignorant words,

but I wanted to ask him
what he meant.

was she suddenly ugly
because of her appearance,

or was she suddenly ugly
because he realized that she
had a voice, and she certainly
wasn’t afraid to use it?

was she suddenly ugly
because of her appearance,

or was she suddenly ugly
because he realized that she
was more than just a pretty face?

i'm tightening the belt
meanwhile,
he's got you so smitten you could melt

Some people are told
Never to return

They feel the firm clasp
That shoves them into the cold

But for me, you were silent
Your lips sealed, reproachful

And I learned to wear a heavy coat
To insulate from your malcontent

Your words like poisoned kool aid
Sweet and easy on the throat

But when I left I felt the cyanide
And the hole inside you made

Now I'm free and don't have to hide
My beautiful self from disgusted eyes

And though you did not say "disowned"
Your silence showed me the road

But ******* and your family too
This is much better for me
I don't care about you
