Along the grass,beneath the sky
The draconic sun vitrified
The lover figurines.
Flattening them
Adjacent to the surface,
Skin blent in crackly tessellation,
Deforming to fit the sphere, adhering to it's
Wondrous silence.
Frail limbs minute, heart's heavy as whole islands.

Is it not love embodied to lay defined as an image?
To be held as shatterless glass, reflecting it's deity's melting
In progress, 'neath the star that impelled a shelter,
The star that paved their meeting, that overlooked
Their life and death in a predetermined stasis,
The divinity that shimmered underfoot at all times,
The star that held all places of the earth in one.

The figurine lovers, faceless mannikinis
Sentenced to worship forever without a choice,
For prior love, for prior sins,
It matters not--they rot and twist as the Sun's play-dice.

Pablo plays with toys
Some of them are his friends
Some of them are cars and some of them are guns
Vroom! Goes the police car
Watch out! says the cowboy
Pablo plays pretend
He always gets the bad guy
Stop right there! the hero says
You’ll never get me alive! yells the bandit
Pablo knows that good guys always win
The policeman and hero find the bandit
Bang Bang!
I’m dying, says the bad guy
Good job, the policeman tells the hero, you’ve saved the day
When no one watches, Pablo looks for more play things
In the closet on the shelf, in the back, he finds a very heavy toy
There is no water in this gun
He takes it to his room
Pablo plays pretend
In the end, the good guy always wins
Bang!

Dragonfly lights on the lily
her veined wings translucent
morning sun on the shimmering dewy grass
seeps through seducing my eyes
drawing me in to this delicious glory.
Looking at a stained glass dragonfly plant decoration in our garden room I was reminded of one of my favorite poetry books, Ode to Common Things by Pablo Neruda who is one of my all time top poets.  He could inhabit the essence of a chair to make you think you were friends if not intimate with it.
It started with a devious question
And the answer was clear
To all
But a curious faction
Fueled by fear,
With the means to concoct
An Orwellian plot
That rendered hate normal,
Like bible study.

Let the Right say, 'Amen'.

"She should be in jail," said
A lady in the deli
With a red cap
And matching tee.

Her eyes spewed fire;
Mine stayed on the menu.
Bypassing the bologna,
I ordered turkey on rye,
To Go.

I had a revolution to catch.
One I'd missed like the polls
On Election Eve.

Dylan shot nine,
Dead.
Sparing one to spread the news
And start a race riot
Before Obama takes away our guns.

Then Vladimir bombed
A city Gary didn't know
But no one asked Don.

"I like you," said one tyrant
To another.
"But I despise Fidel, CNN and ObamaCare.
They are all dead to me."

We heard the lie.
Of the grand Muslim celebration in Jersey
After the towers fell.

And a million more.
Yet the tide of deaf ears kept growing,
Engulfing US in a tsunami
Of *****-grabbing misogyny
That made Bill blush
And gave Hill another shocking traumatic defeat.

Women from Times Square
To Tokyo rained on his parade
And a speech spawned in 7th grade
Earned an A on FOX
And a wet sticker
Everywhere else.

Let the world say, "Impeach Him!"

I love you as certain dark
things are to be loved,
In secret, between the
shadow and the soul.

I dreamt of
Picasso’s cat
slipping through
streets like an evil
spirit with rumpled fur

Surely a train
standing in the rain
is a sad sight
in Chile
but what about those trains
that leave stations
like bullets
in search for unhappy men
at the crossroad of their life
and certain death?

you are the Austin to my Uniqua
you meet me in the backyard
Pablo watches from inside the house
Tasha cries in the corner
and your still here
but Anthony's not
To the backyardigans...
